i don't want to troll around here kasi obviously offset lover ako(kasi nga sharing insights di ba?) but i would like to disagree-i feel na mas marami ang fans at gumagamit ng mga strats/tele, les paul/sg at ibanez shred/metal guitars than fender jaguars/jazzmasters sa mga gigs. its not that "too" popular imho. hirap nga ako makakita or makahanap ng mga bandang gumagamit nito-mangilan-ilan lang... sa local scene natin - up dharma down, sandwich, mayonnaise, itchyworms. mas popular siya actually nung 60s nung uso ang surfguitar at nung 90s gawa ng shoegaze at alternative scene. kailangan kasi yung vibrato ng gitara na ito sa mga ganung tugtugan. narresurrect ngyon sa mga indie bands gawa ng mga 90s alt babies na naabutang idol ay si "gulp.." kurt cobain na mahilig sa modified mustang at jaguar...nauso siya nung late 80s/early 90s kasi mumurahin lang siya, nabibili lang sa pawnshop at platform sa modifications/experimentation(diy attitude ng mga rakista noon hanggang ngayon)...pag sinabi ring offset guitar hindi ito sa limited sa fender jaguar/jazzamster o mustang lang. makikita kasi ito sa alignment ng guitar body. eto considered na offset guitars din: firebird, firebird non-reverse, mosrite/univox hi-flier, charvel/jackson surfcaster, b.c. rich mockingbird, squier super-sonic, airline guitar, yamaha sg 3, ibanez jetking
so there you go- jaguars: piece of gear that not everyone likes...di rin easily available sa market unless bumili ka ng Squier Jagmaster or RJ copies 
This. Personally, I'm a huge offset fan. My first serious electric was a Mustang copy and my two current gigging guitars are Jagmaster derivatives. On Bolt Thrower's point about Jaguars/JMs (by extension) being hipstery guitars, I rarely see those around shows here. At least the ones I go to. I've seen the Itchyworms, Up Dharma Down, The Royal and Candyaudioline use them and that's about it. Oh yeah, Lochness too. Compared to the number of bands on Telecasters, Strats, Les Pauls et al, a lot of the "trendier" bands seem to use those more often than offsets. That's just what I see tho.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of Gibson shapes. The only Gibson shape I'm into is the ES but if it was a question of classy semi-hollow, I'd go Rickenbacker if I could. Never got the Les Paul, really and I only like the SG if it's a bass. There are just some things you could do with a stock Jaguar or Jazzmaster that you can't with other guitars unless they have a Vibrola or someth.
Back on topic, I'm not a fan of "metal guitars" (BC Rich, some Jackson) and I typically don't like humbuckers unless they're the really bright ones.
