agree... i wouldn't hassle myself doing all these stuff, though some are quite helpful, especially when it comes to hardware material...
scraping the paint off would make sense though i don't have Eric Johnson's ears

there's just a lot of rumor on EJ being too anal. like the chuck norris of the guitar world...
i keep my backplate cover on purposely because of those things since wala naman. pwede mo pa mawala ung screws hehe.

I know right. Haha. Sometimes, the explanations are just too ridiculous.

At first I tried to keep the backplate off, parang may kulang kasi pag wala. But I eventually got myself accustomed to having it off. Just stored the parts in my drawer.

my room is the twilight zone... i've lost picks, jacks, and worst of all an inlay and i've turned it inside-out already haha.

but yeah, removing the backplate makes it easier to change strings. it would come really handy in a gig and you need to change strings quickly, unless you want to be called slowhand intentionally  :-D

everytime naiisip ko to natatawa ako... maybe ut was due to temperature changes, or maybe humidity, or maybe talagang tinakda ng tadhana na malaglag talaga yung isang inlay...

ayaw mo nyan, accurate na yung inlays mo... malaki ba improvement sa tone?

Sa Ibanez, meron pa. Gusto ko palitan yung 5 way switch, knobs, mounting rings and bridge.

Sa Tele, bridge pickup, tone cap, tsaka Switchcraft jack.  :cute:

NGD strat
Changed springs to raw vintage, replaced plastic nut with bone

so how did the raw vintage springs affect your strat's tone?  :-D

Not much. The biggest improvement was due to the callaham block and saddles. I strongly recommend them.

Gauge 10 is now lighter, and the low's became rounder. Can't explain it but it made the guitar sound better than before.

I'll put the electronics this weekend and move to gauge 11, then im done.

5 springs is better than 3 imho, though minimal effect lang.

thanks for the feedback! i was supposed to get Callaham but the budget did not permit so i opted for the cheaper alternative - GFS solid steel trem block and stainless steel saddles. hope it will work wonders.  :)

i'm sure it will bro. napansin ko yung slots ng saddles. the fender stock has smaller slots, causing string breakage, di tulad ng long slots ng saddles, kumbaga sa stock eh nasasakal yung string.

heto yung vintage correct fender saddles, diretso yung string, walang sakal

heto yung comparison

haha when it comes to the backplate.. I just keep mine off because I think it looks cool with the Raw Vintage springs inside. :) if only for cosmetic reasons, oks na ako. haha same goes for the raw vintage.. though may minimal effect on tone nga.

i guess i have to check mine when they arrive. actually, my strat already has graphtech string saver saddles on it. i upgraded the stock saddles less than a year after i bought my strat. now i feel it's time i got the vintage look back.

re backplate, yeah i believe it has minimal tonal effect. i keep mine off also.  :)

actually hindi ko rin alam bro

though yung stock wiring ng strat eh connected yung middle to bridge PU, so i'll compare muna then do it separately, using the stock as guide, tapos lagay ko na lang yung cap at treble bleed cap based sa diagram...

also, importante rin yung soldering iron, i read somewhere na may iba ibang grade ng wires, affecting sound quality... maybe yung mga magagaling sa electronics can chip in  :)

that's the standard wiring - tone connected only to middle pickup

if you want to move the tone to the bridge (middle wide open), move the connection from stage 2 lug 2 to  stage 2 lug 1
doh!!!

thanks for the reply bro! right now my middle pickup is wide open. i had Mike re-route my 2nd tone control to the bridge pickup to tame the harshness. once i replace pickups, i will bring back the 2nd tone control to the middle pickup.

di ako makaantay, i opened my strat last night and this is what i saw

naka CTS pots na pala at oakgrigsby switch, di ko na pala kelangan palitan yung electronics... i just installed the dublier cap and Mallory Metalized Polyester Capacitor for treble bleed.

again, i strongly recomment yung treble bleed and a nice capacitor... the treble remained almost constant on all volume levels, and the capacitor added some like a little grit which i couldn't explain...

soon i plan to change the pickups to fralins vintage hots though right now i'm still happy with the 57/62's

as a summary, to all those strat owners out there, heto yung may major improvement modifications sa tone imho

-tremolo block
-accurate saddles with long slots (yung stock pwede i modify to have longer slots though it's not pure steel)
-electronics (put a nice capacitor, treble bleed cap)
-springs (3 to 5 for more mass, sustain)
-bone nut

ung default na switching ng 62 eh 3-way diba... napapalitan mo ba before nila iship na 5-way bro?

yung 62 Reissue eh 3 way, yung Hot Rod 62 reissue eh 5 way na...

heto differences:

5-position blade pickup switch vs 3-Position Blade
thicker C-shape neck profile with satin finish on back VS tinted maple 60's neck
reverse-wound/reverse-phase middle pickup
medium jumbro frets vs Vintage Frets
9.5" fingerboard radius vs  (7.25 in. Radius/184mm)
thin nitro finish

ayaw ko lang dito eh yung satin finish ng neck, malagkit, kelangan pa punasan
