help brahs, san ba maganda kumuha ng guitar kits? im gassing to build a LP double cutaway guitar and i apparently want it custom-built to my specs (the hardware and accessories, at least). any reputable sellers you know? doesnt have to be very pulidong-pulido, passable/well-carved will suffice. saw threads about Eden guitar parts, pero parang nahihirapan ako sa store nila. tried ebay, mahabang search. baka may alam kayong shortcut sa mga peborit sellers :-)

this. pwede ka lumapit kina Ahvia and free2rock, to name a few. i would recommend Mike but so far he hasn't done LP builds.  :)

pinagiisipan ko kung luthier-built bodies or those machined to specs. something that will be taken kasi to rough gigs, kaya baka oil finish na lang gawin ko. i love the LP, but reaching the upper frets is a pain. im thinking the LP DC will be more comfortable. baka kahit bolt-on na lang. found this, http://www.ebay.com/itm/110857806923?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619. not sure kung reputable or what hehehe.

EDIT: ships to US only :-(

kung walang LP Jr, kahit telemaster.

With this thread naalala ko yung green strat ni Al Librero, ganda ng paka finish and naiingit ako. It was built from a kit.
I have stated that there are more bad sounding suhrs then there are good ones.

pag maganda finish nakakatakot dalhin sa "rough" town gigs hehehe. im thinking the resiliency of bolt-ons will fit the bill, no?

bihira yata ang kit na set neck. usually bolt-on.

if ok lang sayo bolt-on neck na DC LP, try going through Warmoth's showcase. madalas may specially priced pre-built unfinished neck and bodies (priced lower than their usual made to order stuff). you can get a mahogany neck (indian rosewood fretboard with your choice of frets for free) + mahogany body

like:

Dito, set neck kits with open book headstock:

I don't know whether they ship to SE Asia, though.

kung machined to specs, Warmoth is a good option. spankyrigor ships from Warmoth.  :)

I was actually going to suggest a Telemaster build. Tele parts are pretty easy to find, relatively cheap. Necks are a-plenty.

^or a Mustang as well. im currently kinda hesitant to push with a non-les paul build because of years of playing les pauls, i got so used to them and i fear going out of my comfort zone :-) but a Mustang/telemaster project may be up.

sumasakit na ulo ko, im thinking of a 4-guitar hybrid right now. damn gas. so this it.

DID I HEAR OFFSET? I know somewhere where you can get cheapo Telemasters that are REALLY easy to mod from what I've heard. Here they are: http://www.guitarfetish.com/BLOWOUT-XV-JT90-Offset-Hybrid-GFS-Pickups-Capri-Orange-Alder-Body_p_2512.html Just wait for them to restock. They'll probably have some in a month or two. You could ask them yrself. They don't take too long to reply naman.
Offset guitars for life.

What's your budget?

Kits are a great way to learn. You just have to keep in mind that you're in it for the build, not to save a few bucks--because you won't, really. But if you REALLY want to learn. I suggest start from scratch. Hehehehe!

I have an extra LP body that I haven't decided what to do with yet.

i had the same idea as you... build something to my specs, but rugged enough for rough/wild conditions

i got my tele kit from lyric, and built a mongrel of a telecaster -- strat neck pickup, humbucker bridge, slightly re-shaped neck, locking tuners, reverse switchplate, and rat-rod looks (flat black, relic'd, and transparent pickguard) :-D  i learned alot building it, and its fun to constantly modify and evolve!

since you're good with electronics, might i suggest building something with radical switching options.

some ideas:
1.  parker fly style switching, with a "blender" to blend magnetic and piezo sounds.

2.  "red special" switching:

3. marauder switching:

6k plus yata yung jagmaster kit

tapos 8,100 yung jazzmaster...tapos 4500 yung painting body and neck...

basswood yata.. a bit funky offset shape.. exaggerated kung baga..pero..definitley pag napull off mo yung high quality assemby at finishing..super unique mo nun!! ganda nun red tort tapos  Daphne Blue!! SWEEEET!!! tapos yellow tinted neck..

WOOOOT!

interesting din mag-buo at magkaroon ng attachment at bonding sa project mo.. ...pero parang mas practical nalang bumili ng 2nd hand squire jagmaster tapos doon nalang magstart mag MOD..at least electronics nalang iisipin..hahaha...
