so tama nga si oas na tone is in the gear?

Probably hard to accept for some forumers that he is right but to a degree he is sans the degrading comments.

Last time I checked, wala naman tayong amp simulator or guitar simulator sa daliri.

I personally have had a hard time making single coil bridge equipped guitars sound like "me".

yep, thats what im thinking.. and the only thing that I have against oas is his knack of telling you that if you dont buy the guitars he buy your guitar sucks even if your guitar is already above par the regular gear.. pero aside from that I believe what he said and 75-80% of the tone is "in the gear" and the 25% is in you on "how to create that unique tone" via "your skills (your fingers).

may point din si ian about that "indian sa pana" thing pero when we take that analogy kahit baliko yung pana it will still do the main purpose of it.. which is "to propel an arrow" magagawa pa rin nya yun.. pero it takes "skill" to have that arrow hit a target.. and kahit baliko yung pana basta skilled yung indian eh may 80% chance pa rin na tatamaan nya yung target nya because the indian is simply "skilled" and knows how "to compensate" on the "disadvantages of his pana".

now kung maganda yung quality nung pana, deretso, matibay it will still propel an arrow the same pero with "much accuracy" that even a novice indian "might hit a target with ease" by just merely "aiming straight".. and ofcourse that pana will be a "Deadly Weapon" in the hands of a skilled indian.. pero it doesnt defeat the fact that even a novice indian might hit a target with it.. like the skilled indian can hit a target with the balikong pana.

so an RJ guitar in basic G-MAJOR chord will still resonate that specific sound even when done by a novice and a skilled guitarist.. because a guitar is simply made for the purpose of resonating sounds.. thus the tone (via acoustically or electrically) pero like what I said it "takes skill" to make a cool and unique sound out of it.

so personally my belief is tone is indeed in the gear.. and unique sound is in the fingers

so panget ba talaga tumunog ang RJ Guitar? HELL YES kung tukmol kang gitarista.. and NOT QUITE pag IMBA ka..   :-D :-D

Recently, medyo uso maging excited dito sa pm ah. :cute:

Slight off-topic na somewhat on-topic: Yung ginagamit ba ni RJ dun sa bar niya, available for purchase sa public? Parang may nakita akong vintage-style tremolo bridge na naka-equip sa ginagamit niyang guitar. The finish was in satin chrome IIRC. Looks like a Wilksinson.

Also i remember RJ sold the 7 stringer for 10kphp. Ganon ata. I recenly tried the Ibanez RG 7 na gio sa Audiophile and I couldn't believe how good it was. Mas naenjoy ko pa sya kesa sa Prestige 7 na nilaro on tht same day sa Audiophile SM north. Siguro sa setup na rin kaya mas ngng comfortble ako sa gio. Nka floyd ksi ung prestige e at medyo nahirapan ako itono.. And the gio is just 10kphp! Dun na ako kng kaprice lng nung rj7

Hindi lahat ng RJ guitars ay pangit. Tsambahan din.
Hindi naman lahat ay maganda din.

May RJ guitar din ako. Ok na ok nga eh.  :-P

But then again, kung gaano man kaganda pedals at gitara mo kung olats naman ampli mo, wala din.

Ang alam ko yun ibang rj guitars ay ok pero parang mas madami ngang hinde ok. Alam ko there was a time na bumili sila ng mga imported guitars na rebadge nila as rj. Siguro sulit ang rj if you buy it sa birthday ni RJ at 50% discount. Pero kung original price its not worth it siguro. My opinion

Lets all say na depende sa preference or taste nyo yan. It happen na may 20+ year old RJ Strat ung frend ko, i think he bought that in early 90's and its has nice solid body as well as neck (dont know what wood used) stock pickups and in heavily relic condition due to deep dings & paint chips. but when i used that guitar sa isang gig e i was blown away sa sound na na-pproduce nya. very twangy, nkpa-smooth & warm ng sound nya even in heavy distortions. and he said to me na mgganda tlga ung mga first production ng RJ Guitars. so i think depende tlga sa preference mo. :)
AFAIK, the early production (late 80's, early 90's) of RJ Guitars are all Philippine made.

Why does it always have to be the indian with his pana na kakana-kana?

Nakakatuwang isipin ang ganitong sitwasyon:

Nagyayabang yung isang indian na nakatama siya ng ibon using his imported, custom made, bowtik pana.

Going through the line-6 spider pre-sets, tama naman yung tunog na lumalabas eh.
Masaya na ako sa kanya "sa ngayon".

Here's a thought I borrowed from the other thread for JF:

" I think it’s important, as an artist, to never feel that anything having to do with music is judged by its price. What you can do with it is much more important than how much it costs. "

-John Frusciante
