Hi, a few months ago, I posted my neglected Tele.  I planned on having it sanded and then stained and varnished to a natural finish, but a lot of you persuaded me not to.  Thanks for that.  I wanted to bring it to Doc Arie for some kind of resotaration, but I haven't really found the time to go there because it's pretty far from my house(malolos).  So I decided to have a go at it.  After reviewing some wiring diagrams at Seymour Duncan, and reviewing a few DIY tips, I went for it.  I sanded the frets to level it out.  because as you will see in the old picture, it's in bad need of a refret.  I bought new pots, a new toggle switch(because my old ones had years of corrossion on it), re-wired the whole thing, sanded off the rust on the hardware, cleaned the neck, fixed the truss rod, gave it a serious detailing, and voila...a vintaged out Telecaster.

Some information: I asked in another post, if there was a way for me to identify it's date, year, maker, etc...after some research, I came out with some info.  This is a 1990 Silver Series Fender Telecaster, with a Sunburst Finish, Gotoh tuners and bridge, and standard Fender single coil pups, made from the Fujijen Factory in Japan.

Just to let you know, after rewiring it last night, I hd a few problems, but sorted it out later on.  It had a  '53 Tele wiring.  It sounds sweet.  I missed that twang.  I haven't played this guitar for years.  I couldn't put it down all night.  Kaya antok antok ako ngayon sa office.  Here are the pics.

The new one:

mga sirs,

pa-join din po.  eto po yun tele ko:

it's a 52 reissue silver series MIJ squier.  i've had it for 10 years now.

mods include an SD hot rails in the bridge.  took away the neck pup from the wiring.  as well as the tone pot po.  used a spin-a-split wiring i got from the net, which lets you dial away the humbuckin in increments so you could get a useable single coil sound. and dropped B tuning.

love its sound for metal music.  it's very crunchy and angat na angat sa mix.

ito pala ang tele mo a! hehe! ganda pare :) haaay. kainggit. :(

mga kapatid! magkakano ang MIM Fender Telecaster standard? i've checked ebay already.. and the prices were surprisingly low!! akala ko mas mahal ang MIM sa MIJ! anyway.. the prices went at 150-350 dollars, depending on the number of bids, model, condition. anyway.. magkakano ba ang normal na price ng mga MIM sa pinas? thank you!

Nag-sale dati sa Yupangco, mga China-made Teles, around 7K+ lang  :-o
Anyway, as LAZER, may mga Tele sila na maganda. Si Mike Elgar (of Rivermaya) has one... Ang dami niyang guitars, pero isa sa favorite niya yung Lazer Tele niya! And all stock yun ha?

one more thing.. i'm considering to get a squier instead.. pero hindi string through body construction eh.. is it advisable to have it modded instead? bale magdridrill nga lang ng holes for the ferrules.. :( ok ba yun? hindi naman makakasama? kasi parang ganun din naman ang ginagawa sa normal bodies to have holes di ba..hehehe :D  thank you :)

looking forward to your replies :)

Greg, go for a tele with string thru. I have nothing against toploaders but eventually you will yearn for a string thru tele. look for an alder or ash body. also go for vintage ashtray type bridges with brass saddles. Avoid going thru the process of 'settling for less' just to try have a tele. I did, and in my case, i had to go thru 5 teles befor i got to choose the right one.

i get you sir mike.. and yes, i don't want to go through the trial and error thing again.. oh well, maybe i have to save up for a real one or a good copy instead! :) is it advisable if i just get a neck and body separately, or better pa rin na kumuha pa rin ng buo na? (baka kasi may matching ng woods or sa construction/design) hmmmm...

here's what i've been eyeing on:
1) save up and go for a good copy/real fender
2) get a neck and body separately (from ebay most likely)
3) have a tele body custom built (yung neck sa ebay na lang siguro)
4) have a neck custom built (yung body, galing ebay na din)
5) have a tele custom built locally (standard tele specs lang - wala nang super special bridge ek-ek hehehe..anyway, i still wonder how much that would cost!)

ang hirap makachamba ng fernandes kasi eh.. napakyaw na.. or either napull out na. haay. sad. kung dati pa tong tele hunt ko, dapat nakuha ko na yung guitar/s na yun. hehe. thanks sir mike for the tip! i totally agree with you :)

aschually, if you're going for twang, i've found that a top loader gives the notes a more metallic ping.

pero, i've also found that a lot of people want to play a tele, but dont really like the twang so they load it with 'buckers or whatever. trip lang daw nila yung korte, which is weird cuz my wife thinks its ass ugly.
