nitro yan im sure you wouldn't be able to do that with a Poly+catalyst guitar unless you spray it thin then remove most of the top coat you just sprayed on or use an oil based poly like tru oil

and Boiled linseed oil + oil based poly + mineral spirit

poly = build up after build up then the guitar is plastic wrapped after that, unless you spray them thin

nitro = regardless of how many coats you spray your next coat will just eat most of your previous coats it dries at a certain thickness

disclaimer i dont believe nitro is better than poly but in my case i can live with both but i just prefer nitro cause its way easier to repair and touch up.

on a poly guitar when it dries no amount of paint thinner can strip the poly, either use a heat gun or strip-sol which is sucker to clean up, while with nitro stripping
is a breeze, soak a rag in thinner and just wipe away, also love nitro cause it ages beautifully

Had a friend of mine swap out the previously humbucker-loaded black pickguard on my Tele with the stock one loaded with a single coil. Here's a shot of her (kinda dark, but oh well - she's also missing some screws on the pickguard lol):

Well you can still do that kind of aging with poly. May secret ingredient lang: SIPAG AT TIYAGA.

Tom Murphy has aged Les Pauls finished with Poly AFAIK.
