Most useful plugins, 2014
« on: February 26, 2014, 10:56:12 AM »
The last time I researched on plugins was like in 2004  :).  But for the benefit of everyone using plugins, what are the most useful ones for you?

Hi Sir Skunky!

Pasensya na sa limited knowledge ko, pero just thought of sharing some awesome free plugins that I've been using:
1. TC ELECTRONIC M30 Reverb
-Straight forward, great sounding reverb. Got this for free during a TC Promo. I think the link is still alive.
2. QUIKQUAK UpStereo
-Stereo Field enhancer to make the mixes sound fuller.
3. Magnus Jonsson Ambience Reverb
-A great sounding reverb with more controls and settings than the M30. harder to use lang especially for newbies. pero once you get the hang of it, its cool! I like the M30's for vocals berter though :)
4. Variety Of Sound Density Compressor
-A great compressor. I especially use this during mastering. :)
5. Voxengo Span
-Spectrum Analyzer. really helpful for monitoring those unwanted frequencies.

Hope this helps!

Is it just me, but all these expensive plugins probably are expensive because of their GUI?  IMO there are tons of plugins that have simple sliders and knobs and no fancy graphics that can do a good job.

That one, and more capabilities I guess for the uncommon and unique sounds. but as for common use, I've been trying out cheaper or sometimes free VSTs taht sound great as the high priced counterparts.

MDA plugins rule! hehe. But seriously, I still prefer Invada tube (kahit na may bootsy plugins pa) for treating an anemic 808 drum.

my opinion plugins are made for the sound they produce sa tingin ko plus na lng yung gui nla to compete with modern market at kng tingnan natin yung resources at technology na available ngayon to model yung certain hardware ay mas updated yung nga lng choices between libre at may presyo mas masarap parin ang libre :-D meron din na simple lng ang gui pero pricey din like Sonnox oxford

I'm all set with REAPER's bundled FX.

The only extra plugin I frequently use is Voxengo Stereo Touch.

1. LePou Amp Simulator
2. any simple Cabinet Simulator, collection of Cabinet impulses
3. Voxengo Spectrum Analyzer(for monitoring and utilization of audio frequencies)
4. GClip(it's a basic clipper)
5. BitterSweet(my favorite transient designer)
6. TSE 808(Ibanez/Maxon Tubescreamer 808), TSE BOD(Sansamp Bass Driver)

Here's my list of abused plugin, and take note, it's all freeware

SIR Impulse Reverb - still my fave plugin for Windows. Basic controls for impulse responses, but enough so the results aren't shoddy.

Amplitube for clean/pedal friendly amp sims, Guitar Rig for ITB dirt and effects.

BBE Sonic Maximizer pa rin for hopelessly crappy tracks.

SPL Free Ranger for really quick EQ work: it touches the mostly-tweaked frequencies, so it takes less guesswork, and demos turn out faster.

How about plugins na VSTi for drum track?

Recently trying Drum Core 3 free edition and FL 11, pero medyo pinag-aaralan ko pa..

Anong madaling gamitin na VSTi for drums? Yung pang simple (and a bit more) loops lang. For quick beats lang while composing and pampalit sa nakakainis na tunog ng metronome.
