Vintage brand guitars in the UK have the same OEM in vietnam as the RJ les pauls....RJ's are rebadged Vintage.

Also, Gibson SG Standard for $599.

yep guitar center is notorious for very cheap prices.... once in a while.

noong the mid 1990s, the American Standard strats go for at least 800-1200 US Dollars. But the Guitar Center branch i went to sold them at 499 during Christmas season. the Les Paul standards at that time, in the same branch, were being sold for 1499 when the SRP back then was about 2499-2700ish.

ika nga ni Ed Roman, these guitars cost only a few hundred bucks to make.

interesting...actually theres this recent thread going on how much a gibson les paul costs, material wise.. sabi nila baka nga daw mga 300 usd lang kasama na labor..pero ganun naman talaga corporate business...and syempre madami pang factors like, yung pagbili ng machines, training, taxes, etc..kaya di talaga mapinpoint exactly yung cost ng isang gibson les paul..pero definitely malaki dapat yung profit margin..kasi bibigay mo pa yan sa distributors mo..tapos kailangan pa magprofit yung distributors..and all those business details blah blah ...its interesting to know though..

case in point... it only costs Php10 to make one case of soda (24 cans/bottles) which retails @ Php100-150/case

same with a guitar

that's the power of mass production and branding

Haha mismo.. I remember this early episode of the simpsons..where homer met his rich long lost brother..who owns a huge car company..he was saying the car he makes is just worth cents..a heap of cheap metal and plastic...something like that... You would be surprised how much those oem factories sell their products...those 12~15k guitars and basses..those with empty headstocks ready to stamp whoecer clients logo..probabaly would cost probably just less than a thousand pesos to make..
