Independence day update
So I did something different (well not totally different) to the neck. I didn't like the straight channel route to the end. So I decided to change it a bit to accommodate a more vintage-y truss rod cover.
I widened the slot a bit, plugged it with maple for strength (goofed a little so the plug's a bit off-center, but no worries). Rerouted the rest of the channel but stopped at the point where the end of the rod rests.
Here I am using a dremel to shape the triangular/teardrop shape you normally see on vintage les pauls.
Like so. Perfect.
Then I make something like this. I use a dremel to shape the concave side.
Then a few drops of CA glue to fix it in place. I didn't use wood glue because I didn't want to clamp it too tight down.
Chiseling, filing and sanding... You get the picture.
Next. The fingerboard. Hopefully the inlays arrive soon
