I can't wait for this to be done. Feel free to contact me if you need any measurements or details on your build. Also feel free to schedule some time so that you can get a feel of my BM necks. I hope  you can get the same feel from your guitar. I really love mine and am hoping yours turn out just as good. :)

Independence day update

So I did something different (well not totally different) to the neck. I didn't like the straight channel route to the end. So I decided to change it a bit to accommodate a more vintage-y truss rod cover.

I widened the slot a bit, plugged it with maple for strength (goofed a little so the plug's a bit off-center, but no worries). Rerouted the rest of the channel but stopped at the point where the end of the rod rests.

Here I am using a dremel to shape the triangular/teardrop shape you normally see on vintage les pauls.

Like so. Perfect.

Then I make something like this. I use a dremel to shape the concave side.

Then a few drops of CA glue to fix it in place. I didn't use wood glue because I didn't want to clamp it too tight down.

Chiseling, filing and sanding... You get the picture.

Next. The fingerboard. Hopefully the inlays arrive soon

The maple plug probably creates the optical illusion that the truss rod is off center. Admittedly, the plug IS off center, but the truss rod isn't

I widened the slot a bit, plugged it with maple for strength (goofed a little so the plug's a bit off-center, but no worries). Rerouted the rest of the channel but stopped at the point where the end of the rod rests.

Here are some pictures that shows how the truss rod itself is centered.

Di Jei, welcome to the ride. Thanks Ben! :-)

If you already follow me on Facebook, I'm sure you know that I've had some progress with the build. Today I finally got around to uploading the build pictures.

To carve the topography, I had to use my state-of-the-art overarm router jig. Its sophisticated technology and innovative design is staggering.
