the usual suspects used in professional recording studios are as follows:
kick - akg d112, senheiser MD 421, Shure Beta 52
toms - Shure Sm57, MD 421, Audio Technica atm 25, akg d112 (floor),
snare - MD 421, Shure SM 57
snare botton - sm 57 or any large diaphragm condenser that can handle high SPL's
overheads - akg c451 or other pencil condensers like the Rode NT 5 matched pair
hihats = akg c451 or other pencil condensers
ambient mic - at 4050 or any large diaphragm condenser (you don't need this if the room doesnt really sound so good)
you could look for alternatives for these if you're concerned about budget. peeves found a cost effective alternative for the 57.
i suggest use mic stands instead of clips. it's best to record in a not so reverberant space (do the "clap test"), with a high ceiling
