mas magaling nga mag-rhythm si Mustaine. kasi kahit mas mabilis ang downpicking ni Hetfield, come to think of it, it's still just downpicking. di ko sinasabing madali yun but what i mean is, mas constant yung chugga chugga niya. si Mustaine, mas complex yung rhythms niya at the same time kumakanta siya. imagine doing that, nakakabaliw na nagagawa niya perfectly ng sabay. (kahit ampangit ng boses ni Mustaine.

if you'd consider dream theater to be metal, imo it's got to be john petrucci.
otherwise, nuno bettencourt, marty friedman or jason becker.

I disagree pare! Here's what Mustaine said in an interview. He know's that he's not better than Het. Mustaine is a better lead guitarist than Kirk, pero di sya pwede kay riffmaster. Otheriwse, Megadeth should be more popular and successful than Metallica.

I voted for Marty Friedman because there is one thing that he has that I think the others don't have: Melody in solos!!! Dimebag would be my second choice.

The rest are just fast but not tasty enough. And besides, Marty can punch a heavy and fast riff if he has to (think Holy Wars, Tornado of Souls).

PAntera is almost like a 3-piece metal band, Dime on guitars, Rex on bass and Vince on drums!
But the sound these guys make is so huge even on a live setting.
Imagine watching a metal band playing so heavy with just one guy on guitar.

I just realized may iba na malaki ang weight na ibinibigay sa technical proficiency...hmmm...Which comes to mind the toughest part of being a metal player....Coming up with their own menacing riffs and solos, from scratch...I mean come on guys, this is fukin METAL. Where would a song be without the riffs and their songwriting ability...

So I also want to pay tribute to the man who started it all...the Iron Man himself, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath! Dapat isama to!
And this guy looks like he never aged a bit.

Seriously, mahirap magdecide kasi kanya-kanyang styles ang mga yan eh. Si Het, rythm god. Si Dime, nakakapatid-litid na finger-stretching licks at Whammy pedal antics, si King naman yung mga atonal na lead passages, etc. Wala akong binoto sa kanila kasi pare-pareho silang mga metal gods & pare-pareho nilang na-influence kung ano mang tunog ng modern metal ngayon.

i think album sales shouldnt be made as a reference to what constitutes being the best or worst or whatever. personal preference lang naman yun.

tingin ko, mas magaling ang megadeth, at mas madaling kapain ang riffs ng metallica, pati solos. pero mas familiar ako sa metallica coz i grew up on metallica's music. sindak naman ako sa megadeth.

pantera naman, im not familiar with their album's and songs...but i read a lot about dimebag, and i can see he is more influential than petrucci, friedman and even hammet...because of his obvious technique, and gungho attitude.

so he gets my vote....pag metal ang usapan

look at his influences, rhoads, van halen....how could you get more metal than that?yes mas proficient sina friedman, petrucci and hammet...

pero sino ang mas mukhang metal pag tugtugan na sa stage?

but these guys respect each other naman, so walang contest. i just think that dimebag darrel is one the most influential guitar players of metal or any other rock genre for that matter.

i mean anyone who gets to keep eddie van halen's striped guitar when he dies gets my vote...RIP dimebag!

I voted for Zakk because I think he's the best "overall" player among the metal Gods. I take into consideration talent outside of metal and Zakk can play anything. A GREAT guitarist can play anything - period and is not just limited to metal. Dimebag could wail the blues as well as he could shred. The other choices though are just kinda limited in their ability to play anything outside of the metal mode. I would have picked Dime but I guess I was considering people who are still living. If those who have passed on were to be mentioned, then I would have to say that Randy Rhoades should have been mentioned.

tama. mas complex tugtugan ng Megadeth kesa Metallica. kaya nga pati yung ibang hindi naman masyado mahilig sa metal music nakakayanang makinig ng metallica.

very underrated nga testament compared sa ibang kasabayan nilang thrash metal bands. sayang si Murphy tagal din nawala dahil sa brain tumour. lahat halos ng albums na kasama sha meron ako. yung 2 solo albums niya, Testament's Low, Live At The Fillmore and The Gathering, Death - Spiritual Healing, Disincarnate, Cancer - Death Shall Rise, Konkhra - Weed Out The Weak. wala lang ako yung Obituary - Cause of Death medyo boring talaga sakin tugtugan ng Obituary.

when Skolnick left Testament he had bands like Exhibit-A and Skol Patrol. yung Skol Patrol funk band kasama niya si Michael Manring dito. tapos binuo nya yung Alex Skolnick Trio which is a jazz/bebop/fusion band. im not sure kay Zakk Wylde pero si Skolnick nagaral talaga ng music kaya for me mas "overall" siya. si Chris Poland formerly of Megadeth complete din ang style. he left Megadth tapos nagrelease siya ng solo albums. nagrelease din siya ng prog album with Damn The Machine. current band nya ngayon yung OHM which is a jazz fusion band. check some of Poland's videos:

I'm feeling sad again.

Headbanger's Ball has been doing a Dimebag tribute for his death anniversary. All these bands...Slayer, Unearth, Mastodon, etc dropped by the studio to talk about their fondest Dimebag moments.

I've never seen Pantera play live and I was close to seeing Damageplan perform live (they canceled their tour stop in my town only a few weeks before the shooting incident...still got to see their openers Shadows Fall and The Haunted perform nonetheless), but each year that his death anniversary passes, his influence to metalheads the world over becomes more and more evident. His passing was one that brought all the fans together whether you liked metalcore, prog-metal, grind, power, black, etc.

You're one in a million, Dime! A kind, generous, funny, big-hearted musician and patron saint of the metal community. He didn't deserve to leave this world in such a savage fashion.
