thanks man! I like having many amps bec I think it's a great way to change voice without having to change guitars. I honestly thing guitars have their own unique and distinct tone and dynamics etc and the best way to enhance or shape its voice is through the amps.
Guys here's a quick review of the Park45... As of now, I'm playing it through the wrong cab as the matching 2x12 is still homeward bound. The real cab has EC cloth and is loaded with greenbacks in a closed back cab... I'm using a semi open Stoneage 2x12 with a hellatone 60 and pre rola g12h30...
With this cab and with the amped dimed in mids and treble with the bass fully turned off with the high treble channel dimed, the amp has got great crunch (better than the GPM45), and the usual creamy sustain you would expect in the mids! The top end is very present but not shrill ... and I would suspect it's more due to the speakers and cab. At any rate I like te bite in the top end and it can easily be managed by the presence and treble controls. But with that said, the matching cab with EC cloth and greenbacks (per Mitch's reco) should complement the amp nicely. The clean tone of the amp is probably the biggest difference from the GPM45... the added head room definitely makes the clean tone more pleasant without compromising the amps overdriven tone!
Over all, I think it sounds 100% the part! I haven't played a vintage Park nor a vintage JTM45... but I do have a '68 tube rectified bass spec plexi and have had a Metro GPM45.
Now the Kelly is a different beast altogether. I bought the Kelly because I felt my taste in tone start to shift a little. While I know I always will be a les paul + marshall kind of guy at heart, I've lately been experimenting with a bigger and bolder kind of sustaining clean tone. The Jim Kelly sounded like the best fit for that on paper since the Marshall broke up a bit sooner than I would have wanted.
At 60 watts, the 4 6v6 configuration (like my old 3 monkeys Orangutan), seems to be a great match! Being an amp that derives its tone from driving the power section hard, the amp has a really nice clean tone that is big, bold, and harmonically rich which I think influences the sustain. It's a really honest amp that lets the guitar's tone come through especially with the evm12L speaker! It reminds me a lot of my old Two Rock Classic Reverb but is even better to me because it overdrives better.
Admittedly, while I loved the amp's clean tone (which was expected), it was the amp's overdrive that impressed me the most. It was versatile and had a pull option for mid boost and pull option for even more gain. I can't imagine how anyone could lack in gain satisfaction as there's loads on tap except maybe if you play heavy metal. On overdrive the amp sounds quite like a Marshall BUT with the midboost engaged gives me a lead tone that's very D-like in quality! It's really a great amp for someone looking to find his own tone.
All in all, I find both amps to be very good... rich tone and really excellent dynamics. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone with similar tastes in music as mine.
