Ayus yun ha!!!

So meaning nito sir, yung egg white na ang mag act as sealer???
Then after that pwede na lagyan ng oil? If i understand it correctly :)
it's like, sand it up to like 400 grit, egg white wash, overnight dry
sand it up to 600 grit, then oil finish? do you think this egg white wash
is worth the try? pwede bang sand down sa lower grit kung sakaling
pumalkpak ako dito hehehe.

Again, very much appreciated help mga master!

Keep them coming!

Oh and use a sanding block. A wood block will do for flat surfaces. Styrofoam for curves.

Hahahaha! There's always next time bro!

Styrofoam is great! Helps with blending the carves, too. Pwede rin rubber eraser.

stain+poly isnt a bad finish either :)) pero malayo sa natural ang lalabas, unless meant to be yung stain at wood color at grain mo

actually i was thinking of staining the wood sir,

medyo light walnut siguro to compliment the color of the
Madali ba apply yung wipe on poly sir? and i saw meron silang
semi gloss and matte finish. And so i s go with poly finish, is
this the right step?

1. Egg Wash
2. Stain
3. Poly

And 1 more thing, i saw something in the net, what they are doing is
staining the sanding dust then using it as a grain filler? Para mas
lumabas daw yung mga grains? Is the grain filler different from the
sealer? Dami dapat pagaralan hehehe, kaya every tip ninyo sir's
is a very big help for me :)

thanks again sir's! Keep them coming!

didn't know of the sanding dust trick, I'll go see how that looks  :)

pero tama:
sanding sealer/egg wash > stain > poly

not sure about wipe-on poly, I used regular poly on my drums. I brush it on, make an even coat, let dry, sand, coat again. pag brush on poly, it's best to use natural fiber brushes, and never the foam ones. Sa plastic fiber brush kasi kita yung stroke, sa foam naman prone to bubbles. don't expect a lacquer type finish with poly though! parang kahoy pa rin yan, na may thin shiny (or matte) layer. oil finish is more "organic" so to say, parang wet look na kahoy.

kay free2rock ata yung project na tinutukoy mo

well, yes. ang kaso kasi pag manipis lang yung stain mo, as in literal wipe on-wipe off, pag nagasgas, lilitaw agagd yung original color ng wood mo kahit kuko lang ang ipangkaskas mo. pag binabad mo naman sa stain, manunuot ng mas malalim yung stain, pero magiging masyado dark. and in either case, considered bare wood yan kasi unlike finishing oils, ang stain hindi naghaharden, kaya kailangan ng poly. personally ayoko ng varnish kasi "warm" for my taste

well, technically speaking, poly is also atype of varnish, using a petrochemical base. but "normal/natural" varnish is a combination of oils and resin and thinners, so basically it's like an oil finish with additives.  :) natural varnish tends to have a much yellower tint than poly, which I personally don't like (because I like bluer hues like walnut, vs a similarly dark but warmer mahogany)

There used to be Tung-Oil available at Hahn Manila. Not sure kung meron pa. Baka sa ibang gun stores meron.

meron na ako mga before and after ng sanding

currently nasa sanding stage parin hehehe

OT: for some reason gun stock finishing is a big deal with gun owners. I'm not a gun owner but I do appreciate them for appreciating fine craftsmanship for tung oil to be synonymous with gunstock oil  :)
