which makes sense. pag tumatagas ang aircon tubings, tatapon lang ang ipapalit na freon. either you have it repaired or you replace the whole thing.

I vote boxtype. You and your family will be loads safer in one, considering it is well maintained.

Why are you considering a boxtype though? It's pretty old (about 30 years) and while parts can be had pretty easily as long you're savvy with buying and spending for it, and owning one isn't exactly a walk in the park.

Magkano budget mo bro? Maybe I can point you to better options.

BOXTYPE! :-D

I have always wanted to own one kahit nung elementary pa ako medyo nag sisisi ako dahil I listened to my dad na huwag kumuha ng lumang kotse panget daw ang rust proofing ang kaha konti daw piyesa etc etc and a lot of non sense. well it made sense to me ngayon kung bakit ganun siya kasi he was not really a car guy. more on gamit lang talga thats why 3 years ago nung nagka pera na ako ng kaunti i decided to get a lancer pero di boxtype hehe pizza na. I could buy one now in a heartbeat if my wife permits me hahaha naka intrega lahat sweldo eh haha

anyways I just regret na hindi ako naka kuha ng box a few years ago I could have traded one of my guitars for one haha

I think makaka kuha ka ng around 25k to 50k lang kaso yung 25k medyo marami ng pagawain

in general, if someone who's new to cars would ask me for my opinion about getting a second hand car, i would always tell them to try and get something that is "relatively" modelo. by this i mean yung mga tipong mid to late 90's vehicles up, preferably from big name japanese car makers.

why?

- apart from the very basic models, most manufacturers had already switched to EFI, which is far more reliable than a similar carbureted engine. most already have power steering or if not, rack and pinion na. you no longer have to be a body builder to wrestle the car around.
- parts are easier to come by (especially helpful if you need to replace body parts that are already in need of replacement)
- they are still relatively simple to work on, and can still be serviced by a local mechanic
- they do not look that aged and are more comfortable to ride in
- they are safer than real old school cars in the event of a collision since they were already designed to take impacts away from passengers. wag kayo maniwala na dahil mas matigas kaha ng old school e mas ligtas ka. in most cases, you're more likely to get hurt in one.

also, a relatively sound budget of 100k will get you a readily driveable mid 90's car (corolla, lancer etc) with much less pagawain and headaches than an old school car. someone new to having a car will be far better off with a car that he can ride in reliably daily, than a car that requires frequent maintenance.

...unless you're a die hard old school fan, willing to get your hands dirty, willing to have days that your car simply runs awful and requires more than frequent maintenance, or simply want the feeling of being able to drive a fully mechanical car that. if you can help it, get a more modern car or save up for one then you'll be off driving and enjoying in no time.

kung di sir nagmamadali at kaya ng budget, consider mo na iraise pa ng kaunti kasi at 25 - 35k, bihira yung immediately drivable and reliable for
use. remember kaya siya binebenta ng mura ay baka may issues. and those issues will cost you time (that you could've spent using the vehicle),
money (that you could've spent somewhere else) and stress (when you could be driving with a smile). unless nga kako that you're the car guy
who's looking for a project car to restore or something.

silly question: bakit sobrang mura ng bitaw sa mga high end na 90's to mid 90's na oto? cefiro for 110 - 150k? accord for the same price? is it because of the gas guzzling engine that those cars possess at nakikita nilang malabong mabili yung unit dahil dun? at 99% of the time, pag ganun ang kotse, ang baba talaga ng price.

those cars mentioned are already 20 years old paps, or at least nearing that age. possibly gawa nga na "gas guzzling" sila
compared to newer cars. i actually want another car na mga ganong edad, easier to maintain, and the car still somehow "talks to you".

true. and apart from that, most may be in shoddy condition.

also, boxtype lancers have become a collectible item, and on it's way to becoming a restoration favorite. a pristine condition
boxtype will fetch a hefty amount.

And if im not mistaken, those units have larger engines than the typical sedans right? Really itching to get my hand on one of those. Nagkalat e.

Boxtype pards,

I have seen one go as low as 270k I compared sa presyo nito dati

oo sir, ipunin mo na lang pera mo for something else na less expense to maintain. kasi it's not just the expense you'll deal with. you also have to deal with the downtime ng oto mo imbis na nagagamit mo siya.

some yes, pero if you ask me kasi, by buying a large sedan talagang kaakibat niya ang additional expense for the gas because of the larger engine. but just because it's a V6 doesn't mean it's gas guzzling, unless it's a large displacement engine. nasanay kasi tayong pinoy with 1.3L engines na matipid hehe

Browse mo mitsulancerph.org , meron group dun per model. You can read about common problems or parts availability there. Very helpful naman ang mga members dun.
