If it were me...
and as an alternative to what af villaruel outlined...
I'd scour the classifieds for a cheap secondhand strat-clone
(I've seen some horrible-looking, but electronically-sound
strat-copies selling for as little as 1.5k), and cannibalize the
poor thing for parts to (re)build your uncle's old guitar...
as af villaruel says, "tumunog lang".
If I buy new parts, kahit sa Raon + Deeco pa 'ko bumili ng
POS parts, I can wind up spending more than 3-5k, if I'm not
careful, lalo na't the bridge/trem are missing.
Vital learning experience ang mod/build ng guitar, so it's not
just sentimental pay-off. That said... kapag tumunog na 'yan,
itatabi ko na sa aparador as a memento.
I'd buy a brand-new, decent guitar for myself.
Now, kanya-kanyang taste ^'yan, but I've said it before:
Nothing forces one to master proper technique quite like an
'original Telecaster'-type design. Everything from body shape
and materials to pickups/wiring is unforgiving of sloppiness,
so lantad ang lahat ng sablay sa pag-tugtog. Sapilitan tuloy
na magpaka-tino, hwehehe.
JM2, and good luck
