Just want to ask...
is it a norm for guitar shops or luthier's or any other instrument related to not make the deadline for a specific job?
if yes, are we "spoiling" them?
if no, will you accept the "pasensya na" excuse?

Sad right, but what can we do? There are only a couple of trustworthy ones compared to the number of guitarist/bassists. I think that is the main reason why they cannot meet their projected turnaround dates.

Sent you a PM on another matter btw.  :)

Deadlines are a function of capacity.  For example, kung maraming naka pila, mas matagal ang hintay mo.  Kung walang nakapila, mas mabilis mo makukuha.  Now if you want really fast service all the time, the luthier has to get extra manpower.  The problem with that is that he will have to recover the fixed labor of that manpower.

So kung walang pagawa or kung kaunting pagawa, kailangan pa rin niya bayaran ang mga taong ito.  Which means.... ipapasa sa iyo as part of the cost.  It thus really now become a balancing act on the part of the luthier which means he has to pick a certain service level/turn around time versus the number people he needs to hire.

So, stop dreaming if you want to "spoil" yourself... You pay more for speed.  If you don't want to pay for more; then settle ka na lang sa 'pasensiya' na.

Ang pag aayos ng gitara ay hindi parang fast food service.  Most of the time, its a custom job.

But, pag may committed deadline, i think regardless kung kulang manpower or "pasensya na" is not an excuse.
and what I mean by not making the deadline is not 2-3days past...but months.

I think, if the luthier, builder, etc promised at the beginning na this date ibababalik.. tapos hindi nakacommit..medyo nakakapeeve nga iyon..at least dapat may updates siya sa customers whether or not kakayanin para aware yung client... customer service kungbaga... kung loaded sila ng work dapat abisuhan  agad...

This why I dont have only one guitar. In case may masira o magtagal sa pagawaan, diretso ang rak en rol he,he.
 :-D
Pwede naman i-ban na lang, plus kakalat din by world of mouth (or PM) ang negative work ethic ng kahit anong uri ng service provider.

Siguro as customers, we can do the following:
1. Research on what do you want to be done. Papagawa ka ba ng custom instrument or repair?
2. Kapang may napag-usapan ng deadline, give yourself a few days buffer para kung delayed, di ka alangan. Kung pwede ilagay sa isang document yung completion date...mas maganda.
3. Kung medyo matagal mo makukuha yung instrument...ask for milestones. Example: On this date dapat nagawa na ito, on this date naikabit na ito. etc.
4. Constant follow-up with the luthier/s. Call them (don't text). Whenever possible...bisitahin mo yung shop.
5. If you feel upset dahil delayed...show them that you are upset but in respectful manner. Wag nyo murahin or i-threaten.

 :)

Got my guitar na...from the agreed 3-4weeks..got it almost after 9weeks..
got him to do the job cause of the reviews and recommendations, tsaka madami kilala at sikat na nagpapagawa sa kanya...
actually it was the 2nd consecutive job, 1st one was feb this year, same thing 3-4 weeks ended up 2months..
gave it a "baka madami lang gawa kasi kilala" .. right after picking up my 1st guitar, I gave my other guitar for another job...(with the trust na baka indi na maulit yung unang experience)..and ended the same that's why I started this thread..

btw..Iam the one who is constantly making the almost weekly follow-ups..no update from them whatsoever.. siguro dahil hindi ako sikat haha!
anyway..my axe is here na...job was done well...matagal lang..sa wakas!

di kasi professionalized ang Luthiery sa pinas. madaming technically maalam pero yung business/professionalism aspect of it kulang.

hopefully a better service provide could handle the same next time.

pwde ba pa PM? hehehe
