i suggest patuyuin nyo muna for 3-4 days...
check nyo yun sakin...
nasa signature ko, yun washburn X10...

salamat!
I don't know how to play, I just spread my emotions into the fretboard.

Medyo Off Topic.. My humble question:

I have a Les Paul copy with Goldtop/Lemondrop color, i just dont like how the paint seems to hide or block the "stripes" on the Maple top of my guitar. Is there any way to somehow strip or make the paint/finish a bit thinner para lang lumitaw yung Maple top "stripes"?

Thanks a lot mga ka-PhilMu! More power!

so you mean you want it flamed maple top? IMO. you need to repaint it, have it oiled and a thin coat of gold for it to be transparent.

Not necessarily a repaint Sir, parang gusto ko lang na mas noticeable yung Maple Top sa LP ko..

Haven't posted in a while but this caught my attention.

Part of my work in construction is finishing wood surfaces for cabinets, tables, etc.  Here are some thoughts that I have that we use in practice:

1.  Natural finish
 - you can get away with an awesome looking finish with any kind of wood.  Of course, mas maganda talaga yung good quality wood.  So in this case na refinishing lang, whatever you have would do.  Except for solid bodies na pinagdikit(like some squiers I'ave seen)
 - to remove paint, stripsol works well on wood.  Let the liquid cure, then simply wipe it off.  Once the wood is exposed, sand it lightly with fine sand paper.
 - from there, coat it with sanding sealer, boysen supplies it.  From there, you can do one more sanding tapos another layer of sanding sealer.
 - depending on how dark you want it, you can choose whatever kind of stain that you'd like to use.  you can spray it, or wipe it with a piece of cloth.  both would work.  stain lang kasi.
 - as always, let it dry well before doing any new coats.
 - from there, you can coat it depending on how shiny you want it.  Here are your options:
    - satin finish - meaning varnishing it, then wetsanding it with a find sand paper
    - clear gloss - spray it lightly in several light coats
    - polyurethane finish - use with polyurethane reducer if you want to spray it, spray it lightly with several coats.  careful lang in mixing pu, once you mix the 2 cans together, you have to use it immediately kasi magiging gulaman yan sa lata(from experience)
      - polyurethane finish gives your gutiar a high gloss finish, which looks like it has a thin layer of glass all around it.

2.  painting
 - same procedure (stripsol, sanding, more sanding, kahit wala nang sanding sealer)
 - minsan polytuff gamit namin to give it a good clean duco finish, or any base paint that you can buy, preferably flat, tapos sanding again
 - apply the paint in several light coats
 - when necessary, sand it again, then spray again - spray at least a foot away from the object and wag babad, pasada lang, meaning don't spray in the same spot for a long time, you should just wave your sprayer across the surface of the paint,
 - as always let it dry well

3.  would help if you had an orbital sander, you have more control, a belt sander is good for the curved edges of you guitar, but not for the surface

hope it helps

In order to pop the grain in maple, I suggest applying a darker stain first. First strip the lacquer down to the wood, then sealer, then apply the dark stain. You then sand lightly, leaving just the stain absorbed in the grain, then apply the preferred stain shade.

I think I have some pics when I repaired my LP. (That is if I find the time to upload to photobucket... I hate organizing pics :-P)

A lot of builders and luthiers suggest Nitrocellulose paint for guitars. Polyurethane is essentially plastic and will dampen the tone a bit. The key is letting your guitar breath so the wood quality will be apparent in the sound.

Which kinda makes me interested in the Tru-Oil finish. No lacquer. :-)

Anong hardware ba gusto mo ipa-paint? If you're talking about the metal hardware like the bridge, I don't recommend doing this. Madali kasi mag chip yung paint.
