Re: Acoustic amplifier below $200
« Reply #6925 on: March 10, 2015, 01:54:32 PM »
Hi guys, I have plans na bumili ng acoustic amplifier but I only have $200 budget. (cite their price and model) thanks!  ^-^

at that budget you can get nice used amps, or brandnew laney and goldea amps.

try checking the Goldea AG50 or AG30, or the  LANEY LA65C kung sale.

Bought tubes from a forumer. He wrapped it in bubble wrap and placed in inside a hard plastic container (gel?), bubble wrapped the container, then sent via lbc. No problem when I got it.

any nickel plated string from the following (DAddario, Roto, Ernie Ball).

Those strings you've mentioned are notorious fret eaters.

Hi.

Anyone here got ideas how to fix worn out hex holes? The fine screws used for setting up saddles in Wilkinson trem bridges won't budge anymore. Salamat!
Well, yeah.

Hi.

Anyone here got ideas how to fix worn out hex holes? The fine screws used for setting up saddles in Wilkinson trem bridges won't budge anymore. Salamat!

Here are a few things I'd like to do (in this order) with worn hex screws..

1. Lubricate the surrounds of the screw. This will ease up turning of the screw and prevent further resistance which might cause the hex walls to further go bad.

2. Try turning them with a "new" hex wrench. Sometimes an old hex wrench may cause further denting on the walls of the hex screws. A new wrench may be able to give a better grip on whatever is left of the hex screw's hole. If the screw is metric (mm), try to use an imperial (inch) hex wrench, sometimes it does wonders with worn screw holes as imperial hex wrenches are a hair bigger than their metric counterparts.

3. If #1 and #2 still won't work, it's time to say goodbye to the screw and must be replaced. I'd remove the saddle and use pliers in turning them from the bottom of the saddle. Counter clockwise rotation so the screw would come up on top (on the worn area). If you do not have a replacement hex screw for the saddle, you can manually adjust the height this way. Just have lots of patience and care and hope you get the action right in one or just a few times. Sometimes I'd try heating the screw with the tip of a soldering iron just to loosen up things a bit more.

Thanks chino! Will follow the steps, I'd surely get new hex wrenches tomorrow. The Wilkinson has worked well for me by far.
Well, yeah.

^ahaha those are new words for me. I think it's not that complicated.

what are the ultra cheap guitar strings made of? The ones that came with my Behringer strat and this 3/4 RJ Masa guitar I bought never rust, and they're always smooth. The only other metal strings I used that never tarnished/got rusty were Elixirs, and I have metal-eating hands/sweat.  :?

sa pagkakaalam ko strings are either made of nickle or steel. pag nickle nagtatarnish at madaling maluma. yung stainless steel naman mas matagal maluma kaso umuubos ng fretwire ng gitara.

I think it's probably not nickel kasi madali magtarnish yun. It may be steel, pero hindi ata pang el cheapo guitar ang stainless steel, mahal din ata yun. may aluminum ba na strings?  :|

^Yan ba yung tipong Mariposa sir? ahaha.
