Luckily, I got all three Modern Drummer issues where in Danny Carey was the cover artist and feature. Those are the December 1997, June 2001, and July 2006 issues, in case you wanna know.
And like what bro pmack just posted, yes, those are great Tool references, and I also got to know Tool through those sites.
When I check out artists, I not only check their music. I try to dig deeper and do some research regarding their works, their philosophies, their insights... those kinds of stuff. It helps me understand these artists much better.
I'm really digging Tool's Lateralus and 10000 Days albums. My favorite Danny Carey drumming performances are The Grudge, Schism, Jambi and Rosetta Stoned.
Regarding Tim Alexander... Oh yeah, he's one of my favorites too! I think he's the most underrated drummer right now. This guy can easily rank up with Neil Peart, Simon Phillips and guys of that level or caliber. I consider him as one of my major influences. He's one of my top three major influences on double bass technique (the other two are Mike Portnoy and Simon Phillips, in case you wanna know).
