my friend has this really wide and psychotic vibrato that comes and goes like a flash... i can only hear that in his playing.

i tried emulating it... but i think i came up with a different sounding one. its not yet good enough to be a signature, but at least, im getting closer..... hehehehe

i agree. vibrato is what makes me wanna scream "thats a rad solo!!!"

Yup, tone + vibrato = player's voice. Whether they talk sense or garbage is another thing.

Lotsa blues players have great recognizable vibrato:
BB King
Albert Collins
Peter Green
Buddy Guy
Otis Rush
SRV
Little Walter
Sonny Boy Williamson

The latter 2 are harp players btw.

Forgot to add also: slide players have very distinct vibrato. One of the most 'goosebump-ful' vibrato's is Blind Willie Johnson's slide guitar with a switchblade. Can't post a link of BWJ's music cuz that'd be illegal but here's a clip of me covering his tune "Nobody's Fault But Mine" (yes, kids, Led Zep didn't compose that song):
