Aya yuson's gig at shang ri la mall

I watched his gig with the percussionist and all i can say is

SIR AYA YUSON ANG GALING NYO PO O___O 

the show was kinda riddled with technical difficulties and aya dropped his pick once...

I only watched a while (kasi i was actually there for an outing with my friends  )

pero i was really amazed at his solo arrangements of tunes like "Breezin" and "Overjoyed". And the improvisations were astounding. Graaaabe ang galing po talaga. But my only comment is that you two guys sounded kind of thin especially during solos, i think at least a bassist or a pianist would have made you sound a great deal fuller but the sound coming from only you two was astounding!

Sir aya, natawa nga po ako talaga when you were trying to explain improvisation to people tapos tinagalog mo pa  Sayang di ako nakarequest ng "The nearness of you" kasi nahiya ako nung nagtanong ka kung may mga requests. At grabe ang ganda po ng tone mo, then when i looked down to see zero pedals biglang i felt my GAS die right then and there  .

pero gaya ng sinabi ko sa kanya dati...lagi talaga ako mesmerized pag naririnig ko syang tumugtog...kahit samples lang pag nasa lessons na kami, nawawala utak ko sa tinuturo nya...parang naliligo ako ng notes

I guess the TonTon's massage didn't help? 

Aina recommends you get a paraffin dip. That's where they dip your hands in molten paraffin for a couple of minutes. She says it helps her when her hands hurt from typing.

Sir, it DID NOT SOUND LIKE SH_T AT ALL!!!! I was there sa very front. Naiiyak nga ako sa ganda ng tone mo with your minimal gear. Pero sir, i could see nga the pain in your face. Tapos what happened there? I saw you struggling to get the pick out of your strap ba yun or your breast pocket?

First, that would've been a sweet gesture --- lending a pick to someone who dropped his own pick. Trouble is, i've gotten so used to Jazz 3's that i'm not sure how well i'd do with the wider ones.

Second, even if i'd been lent a pick, i still would've sounded like sh_t. 


Mainly 'cause there's something seriously wrong with my hands.

July 28, i'll be playing at the Edsa Shangrila Mall again, this time with bassist Dave Harder.

Re my guitar: Her name is Nimfa Banocnoc. She was made 5 or 6 years ago by Mang Fredo Oyao. The cost: 5000 pesos.

I then attached a Kent Armstrong pick-up. Cost: 5000 pesos.

My guitar case: 5000 pesos.

My amplifier's name is Tecla Banocnoc. Cost: 5000 pesos.

Making people laugh: Priceless.

Injured hands notwithstanding., tone is in your hands. NOT your gear.

All the times i've used other people's gear i've still sounded exactly like... sh_t!

Jazz 3's po gamit ko, the black ones. I carry around at least 3 wherever i go. I'm like jim hall eh, i carry around a pocket full of picks  all kinds of them haha
