Hmm....matanong ko lang kung technical drummer ka o groove drummer ka.
Pero anyways, losing passion is the hardest thing that can hit you. Pero maybe it's not just you, it's also your group. Maybe they don't want to progress as fast as you do, or maybe they want to progress but you don't. Ganon lang yun eh.
With regards to losing passion because of skill man, patience is always the key. 16 ka pa lang, bata ka pa, your legs are still strong. I actually envy you because you started drumming at a young age. Nung edad ko yan, bara-bara pa yung mga bandmates ko nyan. Practice, practice, practice. Kung nabo-bored ka kapag nakatutok ka sa practice, do what i do, sinasanay ko katawan ko na unconsciously practicing while doing other things, how? For example, nanonood ka ng movie or tv, kuha ka ng stick mo, practice rudiments in your legs or sa practice pads, pero wag mo lalakasan palo mo dahil maingay. Tsaka hitting hard doesn't always do the job (tama ba grammar dun? haha). Napansin ko na habang mas lighter ang palo mo, mas bumibilis dynamics mo, the problem that will arise again is control. Take note, iba ang control sa sinasakal ang stick.
Yan, haba na naman ng post ko pero i hope i helped. Pwede kang magbakayson muna ng konti sa pagbabanda, pero don't let your skill go on vacation too. Hirap ibalik yan.
