frrrf. It's just a sign of the times, a need for younger people to find a group they belong to. I don't begrudge them that. They'll soon grow out of it. Some won't, but that's not my problem.

The fun part is that in the future, they'll be just like us, laughing at whatever will be the emo trend at that point.

Up to the point where their self confidence shatters, slit their wrists and cry all day?

I know the emo is a fad, pero yung mga die-hard talaga na isinasabihay yung nilalaman ng kanta kahit alam na nakakasama sa kanila, are the real problem about the emo generation....

parang slapshock era yan, lahat ng tao naka Dickies. Parang nagpapa-drown sila sa agos ng fashion. Hindi na go with the flow yun, nawawala na kasi identity mo dun. kung sa music, honestly, do you dig crying, whining and depressed-but-i-know-what-to-do music?

up to the point where they realize it looks foolish. at hindi matatanggal ang die hard. remember the metal versus hip-hop days that LA105.9 loved to harp on? same thing, different generation.

That's why I find it easy to understand them (not like them, that's different) emo kids. They're just acting out what every generation has done at their age. It may be different in slant, but hey, it's still rebellion, and as Billy Joel would say..."It's still rock and roll to me..."

As for the whole individuality thing...har! that comes with maturity, and well, most emo kids aren't yet - as a function of age, not intellect, mind you.

And through all that...."I'll still be digging on James Brown!" Ha!

I remember this age! Lol, meron nga yung dadaan ka sa mga hip-hop kapag naka-leather jacket ka hanggang masamang tingin na lang sila.

Yeah, RIP James Brown....

it's so funny how the word "emo" is attached to everything...

naglalaslas..emo
one-sided na buhok..emo
eyeliner..emo
iyakan..emo

saying that emo is all about slashing wrists, eyeliners, and crybaby music...
...that's pretty much like saying that reggae is all about marijuana, dreadlocks, and bob marley. kasi wag kayong manghusga kaagad. hindi lahat ng mga nakikita niyong may eyeliner ay poser. wag kayo mag-generalize. pangit pag kayo rin nastestereotype diba?:)

peace at pag-ibig sa lahat.:)

Hmmm...as i think about this post, ang naisip ko....

It's like saying Chuck Taylor is just a shoe...

Levi's is just pants

Mango is just a shirt

and Boracay is just a beach....

Sometimes branding something builds their images. It's easier to remember. It just so happens na masama ang nagiging mark nila pasikat. Like yung reggae  weed, marley and dreadlocks. Dahil ito ang naging trademark nila paakyat. Bakit ang rock hindi ba masama rin? Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll? Stereotyping is inevitable, pero hindi ba mas madali tandaan ang mga bagay-bagay?

I'm not saying that stereotyping is good, ayoko rin nito eh. Pero i'm just showing the other side of the coin.

Kung ayaw niyo ng purong emo because of the stereotype, break-out and invent your own hybrid style. The road of an innovator is never easy....

okay, im just wondering. why should this genre pull people to the point that they are slashing their wrists and suicide? shouldn't music uplift you? music was created to express emotions to where it makes a person feel good. not the other way around.

now, as for the make up, hair, fashion and being gay. dont blame the music man. it has nothing to do with it. its sound okay? to the ears. right? not to the holes of the face such as the eyes, nose or mouth. that's your choice. you want it to your self. if you saw it on tv, then you're a mindless freak controlled and influenced by the media. so to say, no originality and you base your looks on others or what the trend dictates you. meaning, you really dont have a identity. thats my POV.

not all music uplifts you, some makes you more sad, some enrages you and some makes you appreciate life

This is a much better explanation than the other one

Now, humor me, where else can you express your feelings other than our five senses?

Aren't we all zombies to the television?

All in all, we have a choice in following the trend or not, if we choose to or not, it's not other people's problems anymore. We all have minds to think. If we do not think like other people, that's because we're unique. Some people like emo, some people like metal, some people like pop, some people like reggae. It's the freedom to choose, and to prejudice them for that, is completely wrong....
