DS-1 'bRitiSh MoD' :) + Now modding Boss MT-2 BOGNER MOD! \m/
« on: September 15, 2007, 09:39:49 PM »
A stock DS-1 is a nice pedal....except it is....either muddy or harsh and not that warm-sounding to be used on a live situation.

Ever since i started playing guitar i've been a big fan of the marshall sound. The sad part is i've spent a lot of cash just to find the tone I hear in my head....guitar tones from the great artists with guitars played on a tube amp ---> bettencourt, timmons, kiss, malmsteen etc.

After several trial & errors, I've finally came up with a 'british JCM800 mod' for the legendary DS-1.

+No drilling/toggle switches necessary.

----If a pedal sound truly good, i believe it doesn't need 'too much toggle switches or anything'. I really love the DS-1, and the only thing wrong with it, is the TONE! (kaya naaawa ako pukpukin, barinahin, at lagyan ng maliit na kambyo..hehe)  :-D

Here's the soundclip for all of you....pagpasensyahan nyo na, one take lang yan, medyo may hum dahil medyo malapit ako sa amp + i don't have a noise gate. I played the intro track from extreme and tried to doodle at the end  :-)

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=566104

Recorded using sony acid pro, IBZ RG470 plugged on a marshall 40w solidstate amp, and a CD-R King headphone w/mic!

Amp settings are all on 12 o'clock except for the volume.

Modded DS-1 Settings:
Tone: 12 o'clock
Level: 12 o'clock
Gain: Max

Ayos! Gitara, DS1 & Amp lang ba setup mo dito?

The tone sounded very comfortable to play with, very effortless yung mga fast runs and sweeps. :-)

...Or siguro nasa playing mo na talaga yun. :-D

Sana ma-record to sa masmahusay na medium for us to judge the sound better. Pero admittedly, i like how it sounded through your recording setup already!

Yes bro, guitar, ds-1 and amp only. The only recording media i have was a cheap headphone w/mic. I was also hoping to have this recorded on a better recording setup but as of now, that's only what I have.

Nonetheless, I myself was happy having figured out how to unlock the DS-1 and sound like a marshall, and I would love to 'transform' other DS-1 users' pedal here to sound like my pedal if they're interested.  :-)
