Yun nga eh, wala ng malapit na malupit na luthier (at mura as in, dito masisira yung kasabihan "you only get what you pay for" kasi sobrang mura for top class work) at sobrang humble pa, treats every guitar equally ke cheap o mamahalin.

Kakagaling ko lang sa kanila kanina and nakausap ko yung misis niya.

Sobrang lungkot at gulat talaga ang lahat sa pagpanaw niya. A few days before his death ay nagpunta pa ako sa kanila at malakas na malakas pa siya. Ang naging cause daw ng death ay stroke pero prior dun wala naman siyang pinakitang kahit anong complications o sakit kaya talagang walang nag-akalang pwedeng mangyari 'to.

Si Mr. Rey Vargas ang tatay ng lahat ng gitara ko. He's one of the best people na nakatrabaho ko. Tama kayo, ang mura ng rates niya pero sobrang quality ng trabaho niya. Always on time sa mga deliverables at humble person. Andami kong natutunan sa kanya over the past 7 years na pagiging client niya. Losing him is like losing a family member para sakin. Nakakalungkot na nung isang araw lang nagtatawanan pa kami tapos ngayon wala na siya. He's a very kind person and I will always vouch for his craft. Isang malaking kawalan para sa mga musikero (lalo na sa mga taga Rizal area) ang pagpanaw niya.

Mang Rey, idol ka namin. Salamat sa pagkakaibigan at sa pag-aalaga ng gitara namin.

Yung pag-claim ng guitar ay sa first week daw ng March after ng libing. Rest assured ginagawan ng paraan ng pamilya nya para maensure na safely mabalik sa lahat yung mga gitara na andun sa kanya.

I just hope we give back to Rey's family kasi pag gawa ng gitara ang source of income nila, di naman malakas yung tindahan nila. I have known Rey since 2004 and we built the new guitarfix with the studio in brookside back in 2005-2007. Anyway sana masuklian natin lahat ng tinulong ni rey sa ating mga gitarista na nagpaayos sa kanya, kahit maliit malaking tulong pa rin. It's a big loss but yet he's in a better place. we will miss you pareng rey

RIP Mang Rey.

From the time i got hooked into collecting guitars and gear, lageng si Mang Rey ang gumagalaw ng mga gitara ko, I learned so much from the guy as he was very frank and straight to the point when talking about your gear. Mamimiss ko yung hybrid na Hotcabs na amp niyo Mang Rey as well our little chit chats about gear and life. We'll be visiting his wake later to pay our respects to his family.

Condolences to the family of Mang Rey. He shall indeed be missed.

I had my guitars setup by him, even though I resided in Novaliches, a lot of the metal maniacs vouched for his quality and worksmanship. One day I decided to visit him for the very first time unannounced since I had no contact with him, just a tip on how to get there. It was around 3:00pm, siesta time. I did not expect him to be very accommodating at first since I went there unannounced. I knocked on the gate, no answer or signs of anyone being in. I waited for a solid 5 mins. and then I heard a voice telling me to come in. He was busy setting up guitars and repairing some stuff that was there, I remember a red floyded Warlock, a Les Paul, a Yamaha super strat, an Ibanez Rg and a Gio and 1 strat that he owned and 2 acoustics that looked broken down and past their playing days. This immediately triggered that I indeed went to the right place cause he kept those acoustics as a reminder of his work during the times when he started out. He also taught me how to do some setups, some minor repairs and then some tips. He even showed me the secrets of his big amplifier which we all used to test while we were there.

He was indeed a great man that we all knew and we respected a lot, more so entrusting our instruments to his care which he saw to be his own and took care of it like a father should. Thank you Mang Rey for everything.
