hayyy, ganun talaga kultura dito. dapat magbago na.
people dont dont check the history behind the bands.
or tamad lang talaga mag research beyond whats popular.
nakikinig din ako ng typecast every now and then, not a big fan though.
pero i respect where you guys come from and the scene that we all went through.
hindi naman talaga aim ng mga banda sa HC and punk scene na sumikat.
releasing your own CDs, putting up DIY shows, networking, travelling god knows how many hours just to support a show with crappy gear in some basketballcourt/warehouse/clubhouse in the middle of nowhere and seeing all these familiar faces, people singing along at the top of their lungs to songs that never would probably never see the light of day on commercial radio.
its not an easy experience but is totally different from the club scene. there's nothing quite like it.
and these bands... typecast, unheard, piledriver, mihara, walk me home from laguna, sauna, settled down, failure from batangas, choke cocoi and everyone from quezon, defiant, a prayer of endurance from baguio, play, utter dismay from bulacan and countless other bands represent a wide range of styles in the HC and punk community aren't doing it to be famous. maybe some of them get lucky and become popular, and some of them did. but you can't take away from them their work ethic, how they approach their music, and to a certain extent their dedication to put out a message (political or personal), to educate, and wear their hearts on their sleeves.
typecast, despite how big they are nowadays and have become "typecast" as the role models for all these kids, have probably paid their dues in the underground scene doing shows, playing gigs far away, corresponding with individuals, indie labels here and abroad, put out records and zines in some point or another.
so i find it really sad that people are quick to judge, and are generally disrespectful, when they don't have any idea where they're coming from and the entire subculture they evolved from.
maski dati pa, people have been telling me that despite the crappy guitars the vocalist plays with, they always played tight. their rhythm section has improved in so many ways. so, thumbs up to that. plus adding packoy, who played in unheard (an awesome metalcore outfit, amazing vocal style, they have been around for the longest time), made things more dynamic.
