What drivers are you using and do you have a send assigned in the input strip in patchmix? I suggest using the Stereo Product default session if you're having a bit of difficulty visualizing how signals are routed in patchmix.

Hi sir Kit,

I've done my test record by WDM driver.
I set also my input source from Left 0404 inputs1/2.

I'll try the Stereo default.

Also, i've tried using the ASIO driver, as this was indicated in the manual.
But upon recording, after the first measure, ng-d-dropout.
So i change it back to WDM... what could be the problem?

thank so much po

Hi sir Kit,

I could not find any PatchMix application display from my E-MU control panel.

I tried searching about it from my manuals, none.

I tried updating the SW from v.4 to v.8 as it is available in e-mu site...none pa din.

I found a PatchMix kinda installer - EmuPMX_PCApp_L6_1_81_06.exe
from e-mu site...it gives an error nman just after extracting files upon installing:
"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Setup will exit."
-maybe this installer is for the 0404 PCI, mine is the 0404 USB 2.0

this means i cannot use any of my plug-ins? bummer  :-(

thanks very much for the advise.

I thought you were using the 0404 pci. No patchmix app for the usb though.

Is your 0404 connected to a usb 2.0 port?

Yes sir.
I checked & used the USB 2.0 port root hub.

Does this mean i need to use an external mixer?

What the... ? my original reply got lost.

Play around with the direct monitor button on your 0404. Unlike the pci cards, the 0404 usb is not always in direct monitor mode, you have to engage it. Also, I've read that the direct monitor volume control is an endless pot so it is more of a software volume control than a hardware control, unlike the main volume pot of the 0404.

Hi sir Kit,

thanks again.

What software? Sonar ba? Did you define the inputs and outputs in Options > Audio? You have to highlight or check the I/O you want to use before it is available for use. Sometimes, when switching between drivers, Sonar (and some other software) will default to using the onboard audio.

Hi sir Kit,

Yes sir, SonarLE. also defined the inputs & outputs. I've already done some initial recording, but only with effects from external guitar processor. It was recorded fine.
But the Amplitube plug-in just can't detect my input.

I've also tried using the CubaseLE, it has onboard mixer plugin, & its effects plugin works fine.

i think i'll try & explore more on the Cubase. But the Sonar seems to be much more meticulous in crafting the recorded sound. Which what i like better.

thanks so much sir,
good day

Been reading your posts in SoS...

Can you post a screenshot of the drivers page in Sonar. Also, what latency are you using in Cubase. I think it's too low which could explain the crackles.

Hi sir KiT,

for some reason,i don't know why i could attach a jpg file here...

anyway, the crackles i've been having is when in ASIO driver setting, on 10ms->20ms & 16->32bit sets...
& set the input level between 0db unity of bal. & unbal... still having crackles & barely the sound of my guitar.

but in WDM driver, ok nman.

thanks again sir

A similar "crackle and pop" problem used to happen to me too but with an M-Audio.  Try to check doing the same things on another PC or laptop.  Usually, wala doon sa isa.  Sa akin kasi, my desktop's hard disk was at fault.  I replaced it with a new and bigger but same rpm drive and nawala lahat ng problem ko sa desktop.  And make sure you have tons of RAM. 2gigs is ok but the more the merrier.  Hope this helps.
