depends on the series bro.

but budget wise go for sonor, ok din naman tunog nito with proper tuning and proper head also.

pearl? expensive one but sulit.

successful deal via meetups/shipping: rasta_gopz, Blood_saves, nuthead, yekoz, nuthead, beepbeep, akgm52192, ivanovich05, wipeout, mr.diddle, wax_static, sandythedrummer, peeves24, vhinming, shotsofredmist, zildjian07, jejunaidrmmr, thegreatone, markcasq

When we're talking about entry-level and mid-level kits, it's all even for me.  Sonor and Pearl both make outstanding kits in these categories.  It's just a matter of personal preferences.

When it comes to high-end kits...  I choose Sonor.  Their top-of-the-line drums such as the SQ2, Designer Series, and the DeLite are among the best-sounding, most beautiful, most well-designed, and most well-crafted drums in the world.  And some Sonors appreciate in value.  However, all that A-1 quality comes with a heavy price tag.  Value-wise, Pearl's Reference, Masterworks, and Masters series drums are a better and more practical choice, without compromising quality.

If we're talking about pedals and hardware, I'd go for Pearl.  I haven't tried yet the high-end Sonor pedals, but they do look interesting.  If top cats like Thomas Lang use them, then it must be good.

But if it comes to hardware, Pearl ako even if its entry level vs entry level.
Tele bought 20K. Upgraded pots.  FS: 30K  Trade Value BS: 85K.  Deal tayo?

I'm using a Sonor DP , and I've also used A Pearl Eliminator ...

Not only that... Sonor has been in the Drum bussiness several decades before any Asian Brand.  It has also outlived its younger peers like Ludwig Gretsch,& Premier na nag sara na then nag bukas na lang ulit. That alone speaks alot for itself.

Sonor is also used in addition to Thomas Lang by other "All Time All Around" Great Drummers Steve Smith & Jojo Myer. ( i think recently Thomas switched Brands i can't recall what).

The reason Sonor is not so well known among Young Blood is becoz of "Limited Exposure & High Tag Price" unlike other Asian Brands.

It is for this same  reason that the "Force" Series has been created to cut down on cost without compromising quality so it can compete in the market otherwise all German Made Sonors are beyond most drummers reach

I've tried and played around with a sonor force 3007, a sonor s classix, pearl vision ang pearl masters custom.. And mas gusto ko din ung lugs nung sonor, pati ung logo and yung mounting system..

and there's just something mysterious / unorthodox / uncommon about the sonor which matches my personality.. ;-)

but then again, better is relative :-)

Sonor has been in the Drum Making bussiness more than 125 years far longer than "any claim" to be the best reason to play drums.

Obviously "most" Old Timers & Veterans alike who knows what they are talking about will choose Sonor at any given day while New Blood not familiar with the Sonor Status will do otherwise

On the other hand ....if Clamps,Accessories,Stands & Pedals Pearl ako becoz of thier ingenuity in design

And price packages. Matagal na akong hindi nakakabisita sa JB, pero the last time, parang mas maganda yung prices ng Sonor... more shells for less. I'm not sure if JB now has packaged Pearl kits similarly.

My personal preference... Sonor... kasi they look classier (lugs!) :)

i choose sonor just because i like it, simple as that. i like how their high-end kits look. and some of my favorite drummers use it, like jojo mayer and tomas haake.

If price doesn't matter, I'll go for Sonor. For me, nothing beats their flagship models. This is I think the mercedes benz of drums hehehe.

actually binansagang "the rolls royce of drums" ang sonor. yung mga top of the line nila, well, TOP OF THE LINE talaga. recently lang nila talaga pinasok ang mga mass produced, budget-conscious na series.

on the other hand, pearl is one of the most consumer-oriented (if not THE most consumer-oriented) drum compaines in the world. grabe ang dedication nila sa beginner to mid-level market (ie Export). recently lang nila pinasok ang "boutique" drum market (masterworks tsaka reference... yung mga masters, designed to be affordable pa rin kahit paano e), kaso kahit ganun eh kita pa rin ang consumer-driven approach nila, ie sa paggawa ng masters custom, na parang budget version ng masters premium.

bottom line lang dito eh kung ano ba ang gusto mo makuha galing sa kit mo. nasa trip mo lang yan. yung isa, parang rolls royce/benz... dedicated to top quality at top prices. yung isa, parang toyota/honda... dedicated to making good quality products accessible to all.
