sir tips naman jan pag paakyat...nahihirapan kasi ako sa derederechong akyatan...as in pagod na pagod nako 1/4 kilometer palang... :|
-night before the day ng ride drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated and feel strong.. -warm up your body before biking(minimum 10mins), specially the muscle parts by stretching.also inhale/exhale will boost your energy. -chocolate bar!also gives a boost of energy!

ride safe always brow!

The wildlife includes bears, mountain lions, coyotes, and rattlesnakes. Attacks do happen. Also, mahirap na pag nahulog sa ravine, lagot pag walang nakakita.

i was in Bonifacio High Street last Saturday during Earth Hour and i decided to pay a visit to the bike shops there just to look around and ask the sales people for a good beginner MTB.
i went to Biker King (not sure if i got the name right) first but i didn't like the service too much because the salesgirl i spoke with just pointed me to the cheapest MTB they had. i'm sure she assumed cheapest = beginner bike. the bike was priced at 30k.
i went to R.O.X. because i remembered seeing a MTB in their display and learned that their bikes are in the 3rd floor. so i asked the same question to the salesman i spoke to and first thing he asked me was my height and the intended use i had for the bike. from there i felt that he knew what he was talking about so i let him guide me to his suggested bikes. he was patient enough to answer each question i had and he discussed the specs pretty well.
the best option he gave me was priced at 27k and had the ff. specs (based on what i remember) - extra small bike (i'm 5'3") - Giant aluminum frame - Shimano drivetrain - hydraulic brake system - disk brake - forgot how many gears but i think it had a 3 in one pedal and 9 in the other, so 27?
what do you guys think? i'm hoping i can get something with the same specs but significantly lower price in Cartimar. :-)

@ maxi_musikero: ok yung mga built bikes dyan sa The Fort.. i have just few question for you ser. 1. How much is your budget range for you bike? 2. What kind of rides do you want? village, urban, trails, etc? 3. Is this just a hobby or a sport, etc. (kase ser hindi po biro yung pera na pambibili ng bike, let's make the most out of it parang mga gitara natin ) Im sure naman na ma eenjoy mo yung bike either na cheap bike siya or a high end bike... ang importante enjoy ka...

thanks bro! to answer your questions:
1. 15k budget. i think i can go as high as 20k but no more. 2. i want it to be pretty much all-around but for sure hindi ko muna gagamitin sa difficult trails. 3. more of a hobby bro, nothing competitive.
thanks for the references but i'm kinda skeptical sa sulit. plus the fact that's double my budget.
is Giant a good brand for bike frame? based on your inputs, a getting a good quality frame should be the starting point. i saw other brands too but hindi kasi ako familiar sa "hierarchy" ng brands sa bikes eh.

I recommend that store. :D
anyway, nice thread guys. :-D

it's sad to say, YES there's a confirmed incident. last year siya nangyare at Malipay-Pailiparan Trails in Cavite. 6 mtbikers ang nanakawan ng bikes, ang pagkaalala ko sa report, pinaluhod sila then tinutukan ng shotgun (pointblank). bikes and their bags kinuha sa kanila, wala naman sinaktan. as of now na recover na almost ng bikes, thanks to Cavite Police. Pero nakakatakot pa din sa ating mga bikers sa mga bike sntachers, dahila alam na nila ang presyo ng bikes (medyo may kamahalan), kaya ride safe lang, and be alert at all times.
thanks

Upgraded some parts. Namely the pedals, downhill tires and tubes, brakes, saddle, handlebar and stem. Changing the stem to a shorter one (from 65mm to 45mm) made the most difference on how the bike feels. It became more responsive, if not a bit twitchy, so it had to be compensated with a wider handlebar.

Built bike sir, around 14.5k bali sir after discount.
"You're seeing this NOTICE BOARD because your account is now User Awaiting Activation, Our Webmaster will be the one to activate and verify your account, please allow 7-14 days for us to activate your account."
kainis hehehe.
Size 18 pala cya, planning to change the tires to a more road friendly tire, any suggestions? ambagal talaga nung knobby :D baka kasi gamitin ko cya pang commute to work, Baclaran to makati lang naman.
My account in pmtb got activated after about a month. Tiis tiis lang. Hehe.
Thats a pretty good looking frame. Not familiar with the brand as well though. Try Kenda Small Block 8's, they're pretty comfortable on the road and trail worthy as well if. Although if you don't want them, you could opt for narrow road tires, there are a lot to choose from as wee.
Ride safe bro! :)

Clarify with them if the components are real shimano parts. Cause some of them replace the FD, RD, and the cranks..hence the bike will be cheaper. I suggest you get a Vision 1.5, good entry level parts and upgrades wont come as fast as the SGM :)

share ko lang experience ko nung Sunday... grabe ang init 6:30AM pa lang nung Sunday, I was riding along Daang Hari for my weekly bike ride then stop over sa Petron tracks.
Then I took a seat and my vision started getting black, almost half ng nakikita ko covered ng black (talk about fade to black  ) .... fingers were also cramped to an angle as if super-stretched siya... halos inubos ko yung 1L of H2O sa hydrapak ko.. took about 10minutes for me to recover... took me by surprise na semi nablack-out ako kasi while riding I was feeling A-OK and this is the first time it happened to me when I'm biking... :-o
yun lang... ride safe brothers and hydrate yourselves more!

Yeah bro, wear them out first. If there's nothing wrong with them, don't replace yet. You could go for 2.0's or 2.1's for that macho look. Hehe

Minsan pag biglang tigil ka after pedaling nakakahilo kaya ako bago magpahinga, mga 2 -3x ikot muna around the rest area bago huminto para mag-cool down.

With your budget I suggest you get a built bike. You can get a Cannondale trail 6, a GT avalanche 3.0, or a Vision 1.5(11K++ with mech brakes & 14k++ with hydro's). Or you could check out biketradesph.com or pinoymtbiker.org for 2nd hand bikes, some are in pretty good condition as well.
But if you insist on assembling a bike, 15k is a pretty tight budget. You'll have to get some low end parts to fit the bill, unless you get dirt cheap parts from the local forums. You could always go to quiapo, tell them how much your budget is and ask for a quote. But I'm pretty sure they'll end up recommending you a built bike as well.
Happy hunting! :)

honestly, i dont know much about bike specs. The parts were chosen for me.
upon inspection: Bianchi Nirone 7 Aluminum Frame XCM SR Suntour Fork (with the adjustable tension thing, what's that called?) Shimano Alivio groupset 9-speed, hydraulic disk brakes shimano front and rear hubs Mavic x222 disc rims (are they called rims?) Truvativ Handlebars and Seatpost and other parts I am not aware of.
I have no idea if this is a good beginner bike since someone chose the parts for me. It's sad that it's raining today and I can't break it in. :(

got a pinch flat last sunday. after truing the rear wheel, rode around 10k. then while preparing for the trail at the end of fernwood, tssssssssssssssssssssss sound. got a hole near a spoke. i was thinking either because of the truing or some bunny jumps i did with low psi tires. i pack a new continental 29 interior. when i was to air it i realized i dont have the adapter for the presta! stupid. good thing i have a 40 pesos patch kit. lesson, always have a patch kit even if you have extra inner tube. this experience lead me to ghetto tubeless. i ll convert them these weekend. im still looking for a good sealant in sulit. last resort is ofcourse stans notubes sealant

Polar yun brand. Baka palitan ko non before mag ghetto. Bigat nga setup ko, tingin ko 35++ lbs. Ok workout. Pero pag long distance at may backpack, hirap. Balak ko pa naman mag century this long wkend kaya lang baka di kayanin hehe. Tsaka na ako mag weeenie uupgrade =] too much spending for little grams reduce. Usually kase fork at frame agad iisipin palitan

I'm planning to buy a foldy, for use sa work. The office is just 5 blocks away from home, and I only have less than 30 sqm. living space, so a full bike is not an option plus I want to bring it inside the office for security.
As a guide, are bikes considered pedestrians or vehicles?

for me, pedestrians parin, although i maybe wrong. my thinking is, as long as its not motorized and hindi sya makoconsider na vehicle. di ko sure pre ah naisip ko lang yan :) anong foldy balak mo? dahon? :)

Basically I'll be using it for fitness (alternate exercise to running) and travel travel din siguro or maybe try some trails pero more on road pa din.
I've already spent around 3500 already for the upgrades. (Changed the handlebar, new shimano casette 7 speed, bottom bearing (sealed, shimano brand), new saddle and seat post. Bought myself a La Bici helmet too!
Question is: Is it worth it to do some upgrades pa? Should I continue? Well I'm happy with it naman pero sumasagi pa din sa isip ko na sana bumili na lang ako ng built bike na. Pero andiyan na eh. I'll still be using it 80 percent for fitness and road.
Also, is changing the fork a good upgrade? Medyo stiff kasi eh and mababa, gusto ko sana tumaas din yung travel. Nag research ako and kaya naman daw up to 100mm.
Upgrade plans: 1. Change tires to Kenda block 8 or Maxxis crossmark 26x1.95 2. Change rims to Mavic 223 black 36 holes 3. Change Fork to SR Suntour XCM
Specs: Orange Gringo 16" frame SR Suntour M2000N Suspension fork Shimano Tourney shifters and break Disc breaks Shimano chain, crank and plato (Sorry i dont know the right term) Tires: Bigdaddy 26x2.35 Brian saddle Ride it (brand) rims Generic wheel hubs
Oh BTW! I bought the bike complete with relectors on rims and handle bar + LED light on front + Rear tail light + mud guards (Kinalas ko lang)

There is nothing wrong with your bike. Sakyan mo muna at sakayan mo ulit ng madaming beses Dalin mo sa malayo. etc. More saddle time ika nga.
Your RD and FD looks entry level but if it does the job right Gamition muna bago palitan, Reminder: Changing to a higher speed like 9-10 speed setup, madami ka papalitan Hubs, RD, FD, Cogset, Chain, Shifter, Brake Levers,
Changing your fork means changing your riding style kung road kalang all good po yan. Have a pleasant day, and ride safe... keep your helmet on your head when riding.

Really? Thank you sir! I'll take note of that. :)
So far pinaka malayo ko nagawa is Bicutan (paranaque) - Tryon (Jp rizal makati) - Cartimar - Resorts world - Bicutan. Ok naman yung ride so far.

Good Day, Philmusician bikers. :)
Tabula rasa ako pagdating sa usapin ng MTB; however, I'm planning to buy one na gagamitin ko pagpasok ng opisina. I've googled some information about biking and it seems that size 16 fits my body. I'd just like to know if this MTB (http://www.sulit.com.ph/index.php/view+classifieds/id/11237709/Bnew+VISION+Werxs+1.5+2013+mountain+bike?referralKeywords=mountain+bike&event=Search+Ranking,Position,28-9,549#advertisementDetails) is worth buying. It's a Vision 1.5. ^-^
TIA!

bro if you are going to upgrade your bike better start with a good frame or a good groupset. With the goals you have mentioned i dont think it is worth to change parts expect a dramatic change in performance.
Here are the basic things you need to consider.
1. Bike Fit 2. Type of riding - Road, Mountain, Croxx country, Downhill etc
When i started cycling i started with a second hand almost top of the line groupset and till now im still using that groupset. Its been wtih me for almost 4 years and i have no complaints about it. I have changed frames, cockpit, saddles and other parts but never the groupset.

Sa mga nagagawing SJDM sa bulacan, ingat sa mga speed bumps, my dad had an accident kahapon with one of them kasi hindi talaga makita yung hump, as in kahit maliwanag, walang shadow. buti nalang naka-helmet siya, brain swelling tinamo nya, tapos may crack ang cheek bone. Nasa ospital parin, mejo stable na kasi conscious na. Kaya remember, always wear your helmets!!!!!

I'm thinking na around 180mm yung travel ng fork na gusto mo ilagay, yung vision frame mo is built for a 100mm fork 120mm max. you are compromising the geometry of your frame and you are putting yourself at risk of frame failure.
kung pangit ba tignan... depende sa fork na ikakabit mo sir, may mga nakikita akong double/triple crown na ang kikitid, sa mga ganun napapangitan ako talaga sobra same with the zoom brand forks... kung marzochi/fox/roxxshoxx then aun pogi tlga pero un nga balik ako dun sa compatibility nya sa frame mo

Ang pag pili po ng fork is based not on looks but function
Halimbawa
Naka Vision Pursuit Frame ako, built for XC po yun at trails, pede mo sya kabitan ng fork na 140mm pero pagdating sa akyatan o ahon trails man o pavement, titikwas unahan pag naka granny geras ka na. a frame like this sould have 100mm travel and 120mm the most. Pero nasa sa iyo pa din yun if you decide to go for 120mm.
I think the GT frame is for XC, and triple crown forks are for DJ. San mo po ba gagamitin yang bike nyo sir?
Title: Re: Mountainbiking / Road Biking *merged*
Post by: brownbread on May 14, 2013, 06:15:56 PM

#naghahanapngkagrupo
dati ng bmx rider ngayon lang ulit nagbike. its also nice to see some of the same people i used to buy gear from in cartimar to still be there after 15 years. my wife was asking for a bike so she could finally learn to ride, naiingit lang ako kaya bumili na rin ako:

Mga bossing, pag sinabi bang plastic steel, madali bang masira yun? Yung charles jerry kasi na MTB, plastic steel daw yung crank. Kakayanin ba sumabak nun sa trails like sa timberland?
Thanx and good vibes.

Don't know if this classifies as an MTB or a BMX, but I got a GT Dirt Jumper since I sold the Intense Slopestyle. I only use it to bike around the neighbohood since I have given up mountainbiking.

Thanks, man. The Intense was the tits. But it was too nice to be kept in the garage so I sold it and bought a guitar instead. Hahaha! I went with a 1:1.6 gear ratio on this one for some easy riding in our local bike/pedestrian trail. :-D I might change the tires to something more skinny and lower rolling resistance.

Ah. hehe :) Ako din, pero I had my first roadbike way back 90s pa, then binenta ni mama kasi ayaw daw nya akong masaktan. kaya bubuo ako ngyn >:D Hindi ko sure sa Marikina if may bayad (although sabi ng friends ko ok lang daw). I'm no expert sa bikes either pero it depends on your rim size/dimensions/interior size.
Thin wheels/rims/interiors = less weight. That's what I did w/ my commuter bike...

hey! anong road bike nakuha mo bro? as for me: naghanap ako ng second hand na frame (chromoly) since fanatic talaga ako ng road bikes since meron ako nung bata ako, then I started from there. ang size ng gulong ko is 700x23C, manipis cya pero superb sa hatawan basta alerto lang ang mga mata mo sa lubak. haha! pwde namang palitan ung current wheelset mo, just make sure na ung ipapalit mo eh kakasya sa current size nya. palit ka lahat nun pag nagkataon. cgro by the end of this year kukuha ako ng panibagong frame: either Mosso or Cervelo frame, then ung chromoly ko will be the classic one.

hey bro!
Fixed gear or "fixie" - un ung mga bikes na single speed lang: no shifters, no brakes (although some of them eh naglalagay ng front brake para may katulong ung skid nila), and pure skills na lang ang labanan pagdating sa kalsada. as in fixed lang sila, ang cogs nila is either ung pinaka maliit or kukuha sila ng cog na malaki at madami ung ipin para mas maayos ang padyak. ung frame ko is very suitable for fixie bikes although hindi cya naka-horizontal dropout., although mas pinili ko na magbuo ng road bike kesa sa fixie.

Hey bro! anong bike mo ba? kasi kung 700x23C ung sukat ng gulong mo (pang roadbike), either pwde kang kumuha ng mas malapad (like 25C-32C) or get a new one like 800x23C, ayun medyo makapal un than the usual road bike wheel. pero kung MTB ung bike mo, better get a bigger rims and tires para dun. teka, kung MTB ang bike mo anong plans mo: Dirt Jump (DJ) or Downhill (DH)?

Nearly 1 million bikes recalled after rider paralyzed
Almost one million Trek bikes are being recalled in the United States and Canada after an injury that left one rider paralyzed.
Included in the recall are 900,000 bikes in the U.S., and 98,000 sold in Canada, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. A quick-release lever on the bike's front-wheel hub can come into contact with the front disc brake assembly, resulting in either complete wheel separation or the wheel coming to an instant stop.
Three accidents were reported, and Trek said all included injuries, some to the face, a fractured wrist and one that resulted in the rider becoming a permanent quadriplegic.
guys planning to get koozer hubs,ok kaya?sino na nakagamit sainyo? baka may mai suggest pa kayo na iba..thanks!
Rims depende - ZTR mas magaan, mas mahal compared to Fireeye.

Full sus frames for downhill and bumpy tracks. Pag inaahkn kasi yan nakakapagod haha.

tsaka mag invest more public transportation.

8k. But if u could stretch ur budget a lil bit more, try to get hydraulic disc brakes. Way better than mechanical. Safety first. Then upgrade upgrade ng lang once talagang malulong k n sa bagong bisyo na to. Hehehehe...
Pero if u take the advice of most of our forumites here in terms of GAS, i suggest get the best one you can afford para isang gastos na lang. Less upgrade... Ride na lang ng ride...

Germany opens the first 3 miles of a 60-mile bicycle superhighway
Move over, bike lanes. Move wayyyy over. Germany put its pedals where its mouth is and opened its first bicycle-only highway, a three-mile stretch of protected roadway that is closed to cars and other motor vehicles. Unlike a traditional bike lane, which is separated only by paint on the asphalt, a bicycle highway is an entirely separate roadway where cyclists can zoom along on their merry way without worrying about car traffic at all.

Community shows support as cyclist laid to rest
MANILA, Philippines – An outpouring of support, prayers, and sympathy came from the cycling community as they joined Lorelie Melevo's friends and family in laying her to rest in Cainta, Rizal on Saturday, January 9.
Lorelie Melevo was a 30-year-old single mother of two who died on January 5 after being hit by a dump truck at a Marikina City bike lane. Her friends, family, and the cycling community are one in their call for justice.
The We Want Bike Lanes in RP Movement organized a bike ride from Melevo's home in Marikina to her final resting place at Heaven's Gate in Antipolo. They assembled at 6:30 am and began to ride out at 9 am.

FIRST PERSON: When I tried biking around Quezon City
I can still remember the first time that I learned how to pedal a bike. My father and I were in a now-closed government-owned park in Pasay City; he would support my seven-year-old body and my bike while he was running and carefully pushing me, and then I would crash somewhere, and then repeat. Until one moment, he no longer had to support me because--finally!--I could already pedal my bike on my own. It was amazing. Since then, I have always loved biking. So now, every time I go home in our house in Laguna on weekends, cycling would always be among the first things that I would do. I can only bike in Laguna because I simply just don’t bike here in Manila.

2016 Le Tour hits the road
MANILA, Philippines – Frenchman Thomas Leibas will be a marked man when the seventh edition of Le Tour de Filipinas kicks off with Stage One on Thursday in Antipolo City and finishes in Lucena City.
Leibas and the 74 other riders in the 2016 edition of the race again presented by Air21 will be riding in what could be an entirely different terrain from the first six editions of the Le Tour organized by Ube Media Inc. headed by its president Donna Lina.
"I expect a tough ride from the other cyclists but I believe me and my team will be up to the challenge," said defending champion Leibas, who leads the Japan-based continental squad Bridgestone Anchor Cycling Team.
The race formally opened with a team managers meeting on Wednesday afternoon at the race headquarters in a resort in Antipolo City, with International Commissaire Peter Tomlinson of Australia leading the proceedings.
Also, would being a 250-pound guy destroy the bearings and hubs?
may i suggest that you seek a cardiologist and undergo a thorough medical examination before you ride a bike!!!

No winner in Le Tour de Filipinas opening stage as heavy traffic forces organizers to stop race
LUCENA — There was no winner in Stage One of the 7th Le Tour de Filipinas as organizers were forced to stop the race due to road conditions on Thursday in Quezon.
A stage was halted for the first time in seven editions of Le Tour de Filipinas as cyclists couldn’t continue racing through heavy traffic caused by repairs on a 500-meter stretch of road in Tiaong, Quezon.
Filipino riders John Mier and Ronnel Hualda of Kopiko Cebu Cycling Team as well as French defending champion Thomas Lebas of Bridgestone Anchor Cycling Team were part of the 31-man lead group before the race was stopped at the 117km mark, about 30 kilometers to the finish line of the Union Cycliste Internationale-sanctioned race presented by Air21.
“The decision was made to stop the race because it was out of control because of the long line of incoming vehicles tapos rough road pa ’yung right side of the road,” said Continental Commissaire Lorenzo Lomibao Jr.

yan na uso ngayon eh which is great! more parts for 26 users like me :) :) mas mura hehe
I haven't really tried using a 27.5 but I have used a 29er though okay siya sa road at trail the only problems that I have with a 29er is tumatama sa toes ko yung gulong kapag may sharp curves sa trails and medyo mahirap siya gamitin sa trail. well in terms of ahon at road at bilis siympre lamang to ang laki ng gulong eh hehe I am still comfortable using 26 sa trails slopes, burms at jumps. :) sabi nila yung 27.5 daw has the best of both worlds pero i'm not sure hehe

Hey guys what's the deal with majority of these "Fixie" riders? bakit ba lagi silang walang helmet at laging sa fast lane sila nag lalagi? most of them is medyo careless and singit ng singit. I remember seeing a video na may fixie na nasa fastlane along slex WTF no helmets, protection, lights. I mean how could some of these guys be careless. may mga nakikita ako na naka helmet pero bihira. cyclist din ako and I bike to work everyday.
I see a lot of post sa social media na mga batang naka fixie na nag lalagi sa edsa. one motorist posted a video na nasa fastlane yung mga naka fixie at singit ng singit sa mga sasakyan. ang daming nagalit sa kanya na fixie riders medyo nalalabuan lang ako sa reasoning nila "try mo kaya mag fixie para maintindihan mo" or "Kayo ngang nag jojogging sa edsa walang helmet eh" or "yung iba nga naka tsinelas" or "try mo kayang mag fixie sa inner right para malaman mo. eh di wow diba" "huwag mo tayong mang husga, at least nakaka tulong sa kalikasan" nag aantay lng talaga ako ng paliwanag kung bakit ganun ang lifestyle nila eh well too much premium rush I guess? my concern is their safety and the safety of the people around them. fast lanes and outer lanes are made for vehicles lalo na sa highway. then they give you this crap na "road sharing" na iisip ko nalang kapag nabangga sila at nasa gitna sila kawawa naman yung makaka bangga

World Naked Bike Ride returns to the UK
Thousands of cyclists are set to strip off to protest against oil dependency and car culture this summer with a series of World Naked Bike Rides scheduled to take place in cities up and down the nation.
The nudity is said to symbolise the vulnerability of the cyclist in traffic, but it also helps garner attention for a protest which now takes place in towns and cities worldwide. Dates have been set for 18 UK locations already (link is external) with a couple more likely to be confirmed on top of that.

Petitioning Ayala Land Incorporated Petition to Re-Open Ultimate Bike Park in Silang, Cavite to the public
Paul Zaragoza Philippines
Ultimate Bike Park in Brgy. Tibig, Silang, Cavite, has hosted the World University Cycling Championship (WUCC) last March 2016 which is a well-known cycling event in the world of international cycling. From the day the bike park was opened it has promoted sports tourism which attracted many mountain bike enthusiasts not just locally but internationally as well. The Park has brought recognition to Silang, Cavite and the Philippines, as a world class biking trail for everyone to experience. After the WUCC event ended the park has been closed for quite some time and a lot of mountain bikers and groups are anxiously waiting for the park to re-open. The park has provided a location that a lot of people can enjoy nature and promote good health through physical activities. Since UBP opened, the park has set a new standard for experiencing mountain biking at its best. We humbly appeal to the land owners to please re-open Ultimate Bike Park so that people can enjoy the best bike park in the south of Manila and help the local community create awareness in taking care of the environment.

Baka nabuhay pa to kung nag helmet. I bike to work and marami akong nakaka sabay na ganito papasok. pansin ko lang sa ugali minsan ng mga riders na ganito. well hindi lahat pero karamihan eh singit ng singit at nakikipag unahan din kahit mismo sa gilid ng truck or bus hindi takot sumingit. malamang kaya nadali yan.

Hi! Nagpaplano akong bumili ng bike. Naisip ko kung how much ba yung kelangan ko i-spend para bumuo ng isang descent mtb? pwede na ba yung around 10-15k or bumili nalang ako ng 2nd hand/bnew(buo na) with that price? Thanks :)

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE 3 12:55 p.m.) — The Army reservist who allegedly shot dead a cyclist in Quiapo, Manila after a road altercation has been arrested by authorities on Friday.
Vhon Martin Tanto was nabbed in Masbate, according to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla said in radio reports that Tanto was captured around 11:45 a.m.
Tanto was first brought to the headquarters of the 9th Infantry Battalion to be turned over to the Manila Police District.
Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has put up a P100,000 bounty for the arrest of Tanto, who allegedly pulled the trigger on cyclist Mark Vincent Garalde along the southbound lane of P. Casal on Monday night.
Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan then offered another P100,000 in bounty for the suspect's capture.
Nation ( Article MRec ), pagematch: 1, sectionmatch: 1 Earlier on Friday, the Philippine National Police announced that it has revoked the firearm license of Tanto, who has two registered handguns with the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO).
FEO chief Senior Superintendent Cesar Binay said Tanto has been ordered to turn over all of his firearms to the nearest police office immediately upon receipt of notice. The police sent the revocation order to his house on Thursday
"Ang pagkakaroon ng baril ay isang pribilehiyo, hindi ito isang karapatan so anytime the government, of course provided by law, we can revoke the licenses that we issued to gunholders," Binag said at a televised press conference

And rant ko, unang una yung mga "nanlaban" tingin ba niya order from the president yun?

LRT allows folding bicycles on trains
MANILA, Philippines - The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has opened the trains of LRT Lines 1 and 2 to bikers with “folding bikes” to promote bimodal transport involving the use of bicycles and trains among people going around Metro Manila.
With the “Bike O2” or Bike-On, Bike-Off project, Melquiades Robles, LRTA administrator, said the Philippines was following the example of more developed countries in the promotion of cleaner and cheaper modes of transportation.
“With all the concerns over the rising price of gas and climate change, we believe that undertaking this project is not only timely but necessary,” Robles told The STAR in an interview yesterday at the launching of the project at the LRT 2’s Cubao-Araneta station.

This is good news pero sa sobrang dami ng tao sa lrt, bk mahirapan ipasok even folding bikes. I hope dumami ang mga carts ng lrt para lumuwag ng konti at maging convenient for everybody ang byahe even may dalang bike.
I was really impressed when i was in south korea last month. Ang daming bikers sa train nila. May ramp sa mga hagdan for the use of bikers.
I really hope that time will come na maging ganun na din tyo dito sa pinas.

Meron bang mga East Side Riders dito? I bike to work Cainta-Ortigas using a Trinx M500. I know it's not that much pero hanep inakyat ko ng Boso-Boso Antipolo ang sarap nung trail tapos may bulaluhan sa dulo. Hahahaha Pero mga paps me maiaadvise ba kayong pwedeng upgrade nya?

Mix sir. May nadaanan kaming trail, kalsada, batuhan, ilog, etc.

105-year-old Frenchman sets cycling record
SAINT-QUENTIN-EN-YVELINES, France — Nearly a century ago, Robert Marchand was told by a coach that he should give up cycling because he would never achieve anything on a bike. He proved that prediction wrong again on Wednesday. In a skin-tight yellow and violet jersey, the 105-year-old Frenchman set a world record in the 105-plus age category — created especially for the tireless veteran — by riding 22.547 kilometers (14.010 miles) in one hour.

Warning : fake Shimano XT cranks are now being sold in the local market. These are definitely of lesser quality vs originals. Caveat Emptor ! Your admins will not allow these fakes to be posted at the group sites.

quick Q.
I'm planning to restore a mountain bike that was a long time ago left behind on my in-law's bodega.
specs: Frame: Jamis Cross County 6061 triple gauge aluminum main tubes and S-bend stays, replaceable derailleur hanger. Crank set: Shimano (not sure of the model) Fork: SR XCT, 75mm travel. Wheelset: Weinmann ZAC19 double wall rims, 32H, with Formula alloy sealed QR front and freehub rear,14g stainless steel spokes. Derailers: SRAM SX5 rear, SR XCR-504 31.8mm top pull front. Shifters: SRAM X-7, Impulse Trigger-shift, 27-speed.
Frame is in good shape, as well as the crank and fork. Shifters and derailers looks badly beaten due to usage. Brake levers are all in not so good shape. Saddle is an aftermarket non branded one.
Question is, how much will it cost me to restore this? I will post a picture tomorrow.

here's the website: https://www.btwin.com/en/home according to my cousin, Btwin is a French brand for bikes. So I guess the price says everything about it's quality.

Gagamitin ko sana for daily exercise dito sa Netherlands for a couple of months, then plan ko iuwe ng Pinas after.

ah. that should do for your daily rides since you're in Netherlands and maganda yung infrastructure dyan. don't expect it to perform well on more serious rides (off-road, trails, etc) and lalo na when you bring it back sa Pinas. BTwin is like common brand stuff. if you want something more serious but not to costly, look for low priced Trek, Giant, Scott bikes

Good thing is pag palagi mo na ginagawa ang isang bagay It wil became a MUSCLE Memory na. hehe. :) :-D

Attempted to do Tagaytay ride from Taguig and failed did only a total of 86 kilometers for 6 hours balikan trapik din kasi sa Aguinaldo, hehe kinapos sa oras kasi hapon na ako umarnagkada. Pedalled for hours but knowing gagabihin ako pabalik, I decided to turn back, umabot lang ako hanggang toyota silang, just 11km shy of Tagaytay rotonda. There's also this nice kid na naka mountain bike na sumabay sakin along silang and ni-pace nya ako, paakyat, hehehe. Yung pabalik ko is quite nice, I don't know how fast I was going but it was quite fast, I'd wish I had an aero wheels para mas bumilis pa. Pagdating ng part ng Agunaldo, there are bikers na pauwi na galing sa work(may backpack), there were few trying to outrace me, pinabigyan ko cause I feel like I wanted them to suffer. Most of the time kasi na may makakasabay ka na ganyan na nakitang naka road bike ka, they'd almost automatically make a move to be in front of you and ayaw ma overtake-an. Bwehehe, I'd suffer some to but it was fun na unahan sila, and dangerous too lalo na sa busy traffic. Next time aalis nako ng maaga.

1. saddle - for comfort, una dapat yan (if needed) 2. brake calipers (or higher end brake pads kung nagtitipid), this is mainly for safety pero also applies to performance, kasi diba you could only get confident to go faster pag reliable ang brakes mo (braking techniques apply).
Eto naman for efficiency and more: 1. wheelset -mahal na upgrade, the lighter and sophisticated ang parts, mas mahal. Mas mahal pa sa bike!!!
2. Stem - the longer the stem, mas stable ang ride. I am using roadbike upgraded to 110mm na stem. I love descents, so there.
Ako, I've also changed my handlebar and seatpost(just to reduce weight). drivetrain ko is same same. My bike is a combination of entry and mid level parts.
Other than that, clean your drivetrain esp. kadena. And replace cables pag kelangan na.

Jonvic Remulla · KAYBIANG “The more freedom we enjoy, the greater responsibility we bear - towards others as well as ourselves.” The government cannot do it alone. We have it in our hands to be proactive and to take care of ourselves. NO PARKING in the vicinity of the Kaybiang Tunnel. 2. NO BIKE riders using the tunnel for leisure purposes. 3. NO EATING in the vicinity of the tunnel. 4. NO SELFIES in the vicinity of the tunnel. 5. NO LOITERING in the vicinity of the tunnel. 6. Kindly share the hashtag #KeepKaybiangSafe and feel free to report any irregularities in the area. In the meantime: STAYING IN IS THE NEW GOING OUT. Stay safe everyone.

Do you ride outside bike lane? I wish sana wala nalang bike lane, merong ilang insecure motorcycle riders naninita ng bikers na nasa labas ng bike lane especially if you're going fast, I don't think riding outside the lane is even illegal, is it?.
