The guitarist of the 60s band Jefferson Airplane is an Atenean. Check out this link from the Santa Clara University website:

"Kaukonen wound up on the Mission campus as a result of international fate and Jesuit prerequisites. His father worked in the U.S. Foreign Service and was posted to the Philippines, where Kaukonen attended the Ateneo de Manila, a university operated by the Society of Jesus. After the family moved back to Washington, D.C., he searched for a mainland school that would accept the Ateneo’s credits. Kaukonen was also fascinated by the hip Bay Area. All signs pointed to Santa Clara."

Kaukonen, the first hippie on campus? Flower power in Loyola Heights! Way too Cool. I wonder if he gave the Jesuits a hard time.  :mrgreen:  :mrgreen:  :mrgreen:

Contrary to popular belief, Jesuits are very tolerant and progressive. Why else is there a course at the Ateneo itself, teaching paranormal (and occult) subject matters ?

It's the Dominicans who are the tyrannical clerico-fascists. What do you expect from the order that was at the forefront of the Inquisition ? :D

Bah Dominicans! I remember during my Elementary years at Angelicum Iran the principal was named Father Alarcon (Filipinos call him Father Dollarcon because he was corrupt), anyway years passed by I studied in Letran, and guess what the fvery same priest was the Rector. I dunno if he's still alive right now.

For me the best are the Salesians! Proud Bosconian!

He's fine na, he had his bypass surgery and he's back on duty already now. He's cut down on smoking and drinking since then and he's as good as new.  :-) We really tried to do all we could to help him, asking all the HS classes for donations.
