I had my basix kit nung mga late 2009, early 2010. it's still mint today hahaha. I don't think that the lugs will be an issue kasi napakatight ko magtune pero wala parin akong problema.

Bad news.

pero @gwapito, here are your options brother:

at 30k, you can afford a bnew MEDELI DD506. or a second hand roland. both are good and reliable pero eto ang quick pros and cons:

MEDELI

Pro: USB Ready (for VST Triggering), "real feel" rubber pads, cymbals are dual zone so pwede i choke, tska may bell. bass trigger is a bass practice pad so pwede ka magdouble pedal :D

Roland (td-9, second hand):

Pro: parehas halos nung sa medeli.

Cons: second hand ang kaya ng price range mo. ako kasi, ayokong bumibili ng second hand edrums stuff kasi syempre, di mo alam kung pano yung inabuso. but hey, its a roland so it should be reliable.

in the end, ikaw pa rin yan papa. pero one thing's for sure, iwasan mo yung mga RINGWAY na kit. sobrang... dehins.

I am this close to trading my acoustic shells for pads because of triggering. Imagine, 3 mics to record a stereo kit!

well, not that great din bro because of the cymbal sounds :( mas okay pa kung ang set up:

Acoustic kit with DDRUM Drum Triggers
Going into a USB Drum Module
2 Overheads
Acoustic Cymbals

bale, the Overheads will capture the natural drum sound bleed, and the cymbals. pero the kit will be triggered via VSTi. para Natural sounding cymbals + consistent sounding drums and less hassle sa mic-ing. :D

I was thinking
Drum Pads > Module > VSTi
Acoustic cymbals
Acoustic snare
2 overheads 1 snare mic

Di ko lang sure kung ano ang tunog ng tom/kick bleed dyan, kung impulse reverb or maglalagay ng amp for the drum sounds to be picked up by the mics.

In this vein, mas mahal ba bumili ng acoustic drum triggers + module/trigger I/O, or bili na lang ako ng secondhand na medeli?

The Music Source  :) I'm not fond of the Yamaha digitals. The stock samples sound like a karaoke kit, and the kit itself is uber expensive for what you get: crappy sounds, no expansions, limited dual zone capabilities. I'd still go for the Medeli.

wala kasing USB capability si DTX400, so limited ka sa sounds. well, may midi naman pero mej hassle lang.

I don't think that setup will work kasi sa bleed ng over heads mo, maririnig yung TOK TOK ng pads. :| kaya i prefer acoustic Drum Triggers.

lastly, lahat ng digital kit tunog karaoke ang samples. even the rolands. kaya nga thanks to VSTi, we can trigger real drum sounds! :D

by the way, P.O.T. ang inspiration ko dyan. there are old videos posted by ian umali on youtube during the tracking sessions. naka ddrum si harley with acoustic cymbals and snare. check this out
t=79

eto pala mas raw, unmixed version to - https://soundcloud.com/lemdavidmusic/curly-hair-studio-version

LDC vs SDC not sure pre kasi parang apols and orenges e. yung old SDC (behringer c2) ko sounds thin and not as sensitive as my LDC (mxl v67g). my LDC captures more lows and much defined mids. yun lang, hindi kasi sila parehong quality kaya hindi maganda icompare.
