DI KO NA KAYANG PIGILAN SARILI KO! NARIRINDI NA KO SA MGA COMMENTS NILA SA MGA STRATOCASTER
"mukang mumurahin"---- ang taong nagsabi nito, bibigyan ng fender strat na worth 4000 dollars, hindi niya alam yung model ----sinabihan ko baka JM strat--- ang sabi, "wag sana" TIL INU!!!!!!!! "ang panget ng itsura ng strat" "mukang peke" "baduy" "PANGIT NG TUNOG"---- ang taong nagsabi nito, gusto ko ng
kung wala kayong magandang sasabihin wag na kayo magsalita!!! hindi dahil sa nagbebenta ako ng strat kaya ko sinasabi ito
di ko na pinatulan habang sinasabi nila sa kin sabi ko nalang, kanya kanyang trip yan,
gusto ko lang iexpress sarili ko, strat haters dont hate me for this hate yourself for not loving strat!!! yun lang!

Im a bit guilty. hehehehe
nung una, ayaw ko talaga sa strat dahil my bad experience ako sa strat. One time kasi nanood ako ng battle of the bands, tapos may mga emo na sumali, 2 guitar players who both uses a strat. Kontra yung tunog nila sa isa't isa. kaya nasabi ko sa sarili ko na hindi ako gagamit ng ganyan klaseng gitara. :-D
after a few years. narinig ko yung song ni Jimi Hendrix na " Little Wing " and yung nagbago sa pananaw ko sa strat.
Actually, I now own a Fat Strat/ :mrgreen:

ako nga kahit LP ang prefered ko, I have tons of respect sa strat and hindi ako pumayag na hindi magkaroon ng strat kahit copy lang!

@TS Siguro isa kasi ang strat sa pinaka laganan ang pamemeke kaya ang dali maka-acquire kahit sino. Nagiging masyadong common tuloy, tipong unang gitara ay strat style o strat copy.. Siguro pag mas nag mature pa sila sa larangan ng pag gigitara ay mag-iiba din ang tingin nila sa strat. Siguro mas maaappreciate nila. :wink:

Ako naman, Strat ang reference shape ko dati pag dating sa electric guitar, kasi un naging una kong electric.
Pag nakakakita ako ng Les Paul dati, hindi ko maintindihan bat sila gumagamit ng gitarang mukhang galing pang '40s (at least sa mata ko) para sa modern na tugtugan. Ung Strat kasi mukhang fresh ung design, parang nitong '90s lang.
O kaya ung Tele naman, hindi ko maintindihan bat ang daming straight lines sa design niya at parang wala siyang ka-art-art (at least sa mata ko rin ganun).
Buti na lang na-enlighten ako sa pagbabasa dito sa PhilMusic :-D Ung Les Paul naaappreciate ko na. Pati nga Jazzmaster e. (Pero ung Tele, hindi pa rin :lol:)

I do the LP, the other guitarist does the Strat and we both respect each others tone a lot. "one cannot go without the other" ika nga.

give me a strat with tilted necks or with more space between pickguard and strings and without the inconvenient volume knob getting in the way when i strum and i'd happily play it. otherwise, no.

I had a behringer strat. Yung 1st gen, yung tama pa yung body shape. In the hands of strat users, it sounded nice. I get remarks like, "ganda ng strat mo bro", tsaka "ok din naman pala yung behringer" , whenever they get their hands on it. My drummer even likes it.. People just seem to like it, especially the more experienced players. They'd play jazz comps, lead lines, double-stops on it, and I wonder if it's even my guitar. But I just couldn't bond with it. Didn't like the thin neck, I hit the selector switch and volume knob when strumming, middle pickup gets in the way, single-coil hum, I feel too awkward with the light weight, etc, etc... you know, basic strat design issues.
Maybe I'll give strats another chance in my lifetime, but you can hate me for the meantime bro. :-D I'm more likely to pick up an offset or a tele. The les paul on the other hand, most any les paul, I can make it work. Maybe because I grew up on an acoustic, and a proper les paul feels closer to it than a strat. It just feels right. But it's a lot cooler to hate on a les paul, so hate away!!

There is a Strat for everyone. Don't worry bro, they just don't know it yet.
It's not right to hate. I understand where the haters are coming from. Maybe the strats they hear are really bad since it is really a common guitar, especially cheap copies.

i never liked strats... ever.. i just don't... pero wala naman ako something against the users... and if may magbibigay ng strat sakin, i'll accept it whole heartedly.. :-D and i want it to have humbuckers, push-pull coil tap, relic'd sunburst, neck-through, string-through, and reversed headstock.

It's more practical. Such rockstar antics are easier to sustain when you're breaking a $1000 guitar every other show rather than a $2500 one. And mas magaan ang Strat kaysa sa Les Paul so it's easier to smash on the ground.
Pero malay mo. Baka mga poseur lang sila kaya sila nagbabasag ng strats. Baka hindi sila tunay na mga musikero.

Aw, mali ata pagkasabi ko, by "nagkaroon" i mean dumaan sa buhay nila not necessarily own one, like if a friend owns one or your influences, or something.
Sabi kasi ni TS may nagsabi "mukang mumurahin, ang panget ng itsura ng strat, PANGIT NG TUNOG" na parang design lang tinignan, parang:

here is what i think about strats...they are built like ak-47's...why?...just like this rifle parts are not hard to come by dahil they are almost interchangable i can get a greco,yamaha, esp or any jap strat neck and fit in an american fender body vise versa...problem with the hardware? no problem marami sa ebay, online guitar stores even your friendly local sta. mesa and raon stores have these strat parts readily available or even buy a beat up strat just for cannibalizing parts...kaya no suprise for me if someone did smash their strat up

Top ten reasons I like strats (ala David Letterman): 10. because I like the openness and brightness that come with single coils 9. they're sexy (featured as one of the best engineering and design marvels of the 20th Century) 8. looks correct for instrumentalists/soloists (I qualify: there are proponents of the guitar from different musical genres) 7. easy to distinguish the sound 6. simplistic in use and makes you concentrate on playing more rather than keep looking at the guitar (only the tele ranks higher) 5. looks good in a solid plain color and great when reliced 4. modifiable and lots of parts for the fickle-minded and bored 3. easy to play 2. sounds great 1. JH, SRV, Rory, EJ, EVH (post your favorite strat player)

The strat body is very broad. Even the Ibanez RG body is also considered a strat body. It's either a choice between set neck and bolt on, or sometimes neck through.

never tried a real Fender strat eh. pero im a fan, i just dont have the money yet. sabi sakin ng teacher ko 10x daw ang igagaling mo pag nakagamit ka nun. great tone and great action daw tapos dagdag pa daw ng selfconfidence. :-D :-D

Ok lang sa akin strat. Kaso kasali na rin kasi sa standards ko na dapat 24 frets ang gitara ko. and yes, madalas akong umaabot sa fret na yun especially sa mga octaved na tapping.
So far wala pa akong nakikitang nagbebenta ng 24 frets na strat or kung meron man gumagawa nun maliban sa mga customized ng luthiers.

It really is just a matter of preference. Let's not ponder on the thought some people may not like the strat as much others, like ourselves.

my father have a Fender u.s std stratocaster and a greco stratocaster di ko lang alam kung bakit hindi trip ng ibang tao ang strat maganda naman pag gamit ko yung strat ng dad ko binibigay nya naman ung expectation n gusto ko sobra pa nga ehhh... i own a strat din naman copy nga lang (stagg) cguro kaya ayaw nila ng strat kc cguro nga karamihan ng newbie musician is strat ang gamit n mabibili ke pareng raon and mareng sta mesa its not a case if ur too long sa music industry ung mga hater maapriciate din nila ang strat pag tanda nila (mebenta lang talaga sa market ngaun ang tele and lp)
but if i have a chance to have a own expensive guitar ill go to STRATOCASTER na :-D

May iba kasi jan ang gaganda nga ng gitara la naman sa hulog ang aangas pa hehehe.(Bitter lng? haha) :-D I own strat bullet kahit 2nd hand ko lng nabili at stock pickup lng sya, solb nko. :-D

kaya siguro 10x ang igagaling mo dahil ayaw mo na bitawan sa ganda ng tone. :-)
got my first fender strat 4 days ago from a trade. a beautiful 62RI. Medyo mahirap nga lang sa umpisa pag sanay ka sa mga superstrat na thin ang neck.

hindi man ako strat fan, but there's nothing bad on strats. nakatry na ko ng squier strat and fender strat sa mga friends ko, stock PUs - solb na solb ako sa tunog :)

strats are very versatile axe and the sound can be a monster through the hands of a great player yun nga lang pag bokya ang gumamit ibang usapan na yun :-D
I love strat! i own copy lang and this is my one and only main axe :-D sexy din talaga siya tingnan lalo na pag kasama mo siya sa DP mo sa FB :-D ahehe...

Ayoko din ng strat nung nag sstart ako matuto ng guitar. Sabi ko mashadong common. Pero nung tumaggal, Sa strat din ako nahulog! Ngayon, di ko na maiwan yung fender ko! Ang ironic. :D

i would say hate the people who hated strats because of their looks. although i myself isn't a strat lover. pero ang lame lang that they hated strats just because of the looks.
before i used to be like that, masyado common for me yun lang ang reason ko. (kaya you could consider me lame before) pero minsan hinahanap hanap ko din ang tone ng single coiled guitars like strat though i'd prefer a tele. (na baka ngaun maging common na rin since more people are eyeing for teles now) and ang sabi nila mas flexible ang strats. kanya kanyang opinion lang. LAME LANG TALAGA pag ang reason for hating it is because of the looks
oh well you could say i'm neither a "lover" nor a "hater" of strats. so so lang. hehe peace

Now, saying bad things about the guitar or offending someone just because you don't like the guitar, now that's another thing. Sa tao ang problema dun, hindi yung guitara.

lahat ata ng ayoko sa guitar design nasa strat. pero tone-wise speaking hands down ako. but i'm not after the tone.
i prefer single cutaway body, H-H pickup configuration, 24 frets, reverse headstock, at floating bridge (floyd rose or ibanez edge).

those who hate the strat is more likely to be a metal guitarist... why you ask? i guess the looks alone doesn't really go with the "angas" factor... don't get me wrong here, i do play metal music but im a proud owner of a fat strat and ive been and still using it on gigs...

Masyado na kasing common ang strat copy kaya nagmumukang generic at bili sa Raon yung mga MIA Fender strat. Nagulat nga ako nung bata ako nung nalaman ko na kinopya yung design niya sa mamahalin at branded na gitara hehe

I first started playing guitar 15 years ago, and during that time I was into DIMEBAG, KIRK HAMMET, etc. mostly guitar players with really scary guitars, My dad let me chose my first guitar ever... and he wanted me to choose a strat... instead we bought a KRAMER guitar coz I really wanted it's edgy look and the FLOYd ROse....Because at that time the STRAT doesn't seem to be appealing on my taste.... And as I grew older, and became mature on my craft... I now look at the STRAT as the sexiest guitar ever... :)

Haters. The most overused word of the past 3 or so years. Just because someone doesn't go with your beliefs doesn't automatically make them a hater. Hindi kaya ikaw yung hater dahil ikaw pa nagpost ng ganitong thread?
Anyway, on topic.
Kanya kanya lang yan. Ako I love Strats but I don't get mad at people if they prefer something else.

First time I used it again after a long time, natawa lang ako dahil tinatamaan ko lagi yung volume knob at humihina, bumababa yung volume. Ewan ko kung bakit, I owned a couple of strats naman in the past. So naisip ko bumili next weekend para masanay uli ako sa strat. :-D

those who hate the strat is more likely to be a metal guitarist... why you ask? i guess the looks alone doesn't really go with the "angas" factor... don't get me wrong here, i do play metal music but im a proud owner of a fat strat and ive been and still using it on gigs...

dati I used to hate Strats, maybe because it's the most common looking guitar. but when I used it, I instantly fell in love with it. I'd love to own at least one Fender Strat.

Strats are good if you play rock and roll and every other genre except metal or "chug chugs" pero bilib ako sa mga nagririsk na gumamit ng strats eventhough. Parang Iron Maiden. So sad it was a really common looking guitar though. Pero Who cares? Strats FTW!

I bet most guitarists like Strats. It's just that some may prefer to use other models instead of Strats.
Someone may not use a Strat but that doesn't mean he hates it. He just prefers to use something that can complement his playing style or needs. Even Vai said that he loves every guitar, it's like porn to him. It's just that a musician doesn't just jump into bandwagon and says "Well, everybody and everybody's idol use it, so I'll just use it." They look for a guitar that satisfies their needs. People may find it in Strats and others might not. Perfectly fine.
Just don't judge non-Strat users first hand. They don't hate Strats. They're just not into it.

my first guitar was a strat copy with humbuckers and I liked it naman. I've always prefered LPs over strats but when I tried my friend's (and mentor) Fender MIM strat nagustuhan ko talaga eventhough hindi ako sanay sa single coils. my friend then asked "hindi mo na bibitiwan yan noh?". :lol: binitiwan ko lang para walang GAS.
OT: haven't tried teles though and I'm still curious. :-D

Die-hard guitarists influenced and inspired by Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth, Korn or any other heavy metal music are just not into strats because of the image of their idols and they would tend to dismiss (or hate) others because they don't look and feel "HEAVY".
While others who are influenced and inspired by SRV, Jimi Hendrix, Clapton, Eric Johnson, John Mayer or John Frusciante will appreciate them.
There choice of guitars identify them in their rock and roll/genre of music.
Imagine Dimebag (RIP) using a strat or Clapton using a Dime Razorback. They'd look stupid. :lol:
For this matter, the image is the primary reason and the tone is only secondary :-P. They can easily change their preference of guitars but they don't.
Just use the details of the wood used and density, pick-ups, electronics and accessories to make a strat but with the appearance of the body
of a Les Paul and it would sound the same. IMO..
It's in the image and the comfort in the image... :mrgreen:

Not so long ago, i don't like strat-shaped guitars. for the basic reason that i don't like the upper horn poking my chest. i feel its uncomfortable. it is for that same reason also, that i like LP, V or other non-chest poking guitars... and as i agree with what mr. chutchutmamiko mentioned, it is primary.
although i had the chance to own strat shaped guitars back then, eventhough, i don't like the shape. i can't do much about it, coz it was the only guitars i can afford then.
so, when i had enough dough to buy the guitars that i like... i firstly rid of the strats & replaced 'em with Vs. (V shaped guitars are more comfortable than explorer ones, for me)
but eventually, i got the craving of having a single-coil tone out of a neck position pickup. I can only do this if i get a strat. :roll:
so, even if i personally don't prefer 'em strats... i just had to find one that is the most comfortable. (the one that don't hurt much if it pokes my chest :) )
in effect, i can now easily look at strats & appreciate them. unlike before that i immediately shoo them off and look somewhere else.
Bottom line... I still like people to love strats, even before, yun naman kasi gusto nila e. We are all unique, that's why our likes & dislikes are also unique.

what the LP gives me that the strat wont/cant (maybe) is comfort. mahirap kumanta habang tumitipa. di rin ako komportable kung masyado mataas yung gitara, nangangalay ang left shoulder ko. another is the placement of the knobs; it messes with my (lack of) playing technique.
bukod sa noise issues of course. nakow lagot na hehehe.
but a mustang, on the other hand...

Strats>LP>etc. Ask Eric Clapton :) He used to be a gibson player, SG nga lang yata.
Seriously, it depends on the player. If you like the end, then get a tele or an ash strat. If you gravitate to the mids and heavy tone, get the LP. But for me I like strats because the high end is there and have the option to play shimmering clean. If I need dirt, just dial in the gain and kick some Overdrive (that was what the Tubescreamer was for). I cannot do that with an LP. Well, that's just me.

I love and hate strat, sometimes i only hate it kung di ko magawa ung technique o lick na gusto ko. generally i love it, if i only have one guitar it would be a strat, deluxe preferably for its compund radius neck

I don't hate strats but I don't like strats, why?
#1 reason: Volume knob. bigla bigla na lang nwawala ung volume, un pala napihit ko na ng hndi sinasadya. I practiced not to touch it with my palm or pinkie finger pero npka uncomfortable na laging nka angat ung pinkie mo.
#2 reason: position of center pickup. tumatama ung pick ko sa center pickup pag nag pplucking or nag sosolo, ayoko naman iadjust/ibaba nag susuffer naman ung tone/volume.

the first electric guitar i'd ever played was a strat, albeit a copy. a strat serves me and my style really well. lalo kung fat strat.
the only think i don't like about it is everything is attached to the pickguard. pahirapan kalasin if your strings are in place.

i respect the instrument... its history... its contribution to music, overall... its incomparable association to great guitar players...
its just that, my hands don't seem to agree with it...
well, i own a project super-strat guitar that i asked Sir Arie to build for me...its my specs, just not exactly like a strat...
still, i respect the instrument...

I hate strat at first. Kahit ayun una kong gitara, copy nga lang. Nainis ako kasi dame kong kaparehas kapag tumutugtog sa labas, dame din sa mga tabi tabi na bentahan ng gitara. Eh gusto ko pogi ako sa gitara ko. Wala ako pakialam sa tunog at feel ng gitara, kahit ba versatile ito. Then I shift to Tele and semihallow then LP. Then nagkaroon ako ulit strat... mas ok na. At tingin ko tumanda na din ako sa paggigitara.... Now I have only 1 guitar...strat nalang. Binenta ko na iba kong gitara. hahaha!
I LOVE Strat!! Di ko na papakawalan to. ok na ok sa versatility, swak sa tunog, masarap tugtugin kasi komportable dahil sa style ng body nya. Anyway, I'm still looking forward to acquire a Tele in the future para may iba naman ako magamit. :-D

Haha i cant live without strat, tele, lp, rg, folk acoustic and nylon acoustic. =) they all have different tone and feel.

Hehehe, nung nakahawak ako ng tele, nabawasan yung love ko for strat, i found the tele sounding more natural and woody, no wonder tokai named their tele as breezysound and strat as springysound. But then after listening to those strat heroes, srv and uli john roth, i was thinking that strat sounds great if not better to those who play it with intensity.

I don't hate the strat, but I don't like it because
1. it's just not my sound. HH talaga, and 2. alam kong hindi ako worthy tumugtog ng strat. the style, the sound, the nuances of the instrument. I won't ever do it justice.

I used to hate the strat because:
1. It's hissy when used with mid-high gain distortion 2. The center pickup really disrupts my guitar solo playing 3. The bridge is hard to clean
But i'm a convert and I play my strat (or tele) mostly:
1. I have a Smart gate so goodbye noise 2. It forces me to play cleaner because the 3 idle fingers from The picking hand are farther from the strings 3. It's very flexible sounding (roll down tone and i can get good dirt sounds; roll it up and it's shimmering cleans)
