Yikes! Yep, nde pangmatagalan ang Alice strings talaga, pero may mga tumatagal din. Mas madami nga lang ung experiences kong nababali siya agad, siguro mga after 5 days, nakain na siya ng pawis ko :| then again, pawis ko yun, can't say para sa iba. :?

Currently, i am using PRS strings, same guage but it does not perform as good as the EB. Reason why i bought this strings is becuase its cheaper than EB. But the next time i restring, id buy EB again. With proper care, it can last for more than 6 mos.

Yes with proper care. Clean up with cloth and such or you use something more? :-)
yeah i actually heard about snarling dogs from mang jun. my friends tried them and said ok nga.

ernie ball gamit ko.. ung extra slinky...The most important thing is to make sure that your strings are dry before you store your guitar. I use WD40 to keep the strings smooth although it also protects them from rust. :-D
pawisin din ako eh. minsan nga wala pang 1 month kalawang na ung mga strings.. hindi na epektib ung fast fret n panlinis ng gitara ko. mas epektib ba WD40? o balik ulit ako sa lemon oil?

oo ganun tlga.. kc ung tension ng spring balanse sa tensio ng 8's. kaya nagiiba pag 9's.
at sa friend mo naman marzi, baka naman kc 10's na ang gamit ng friend mo ever since kaya hndi sya nagkkproblema..
Baka naman hindi floating ang floyd nya. A floating floyd is *guaranteed* to need readjustment after a string gauge change, sometimes even a string brand change.
haha! siguro practice ako mag bend sa bass ko para mag naka 13's ako sobrang dali na lang. hehe
masakit sa simula pero you get used to it naman. ang problema is you need to adjust yung string suspension sa guitar mo if you use really heavy strings.

I've been using Light Top/Heavy Bottom strings eversince. Gauges: 10-13-17-32-42-52 (minsan 9's din) Why? Mas heavy kasi sakin ang tunog nya when it comes to riffs.. kasi makapal yung strings na E A D. then sa solo.. very comfortable sa G B E strings. I usually go for DR and D'Addario strings.

Medyo mahal lang. :-DI used Dean Markleys for years before switching to D'Addarios. The DM strings feel a bit stiffer/tighter to me than the DAs. The only reason I switched was because I came across a great deal on 25 sets of D'Addario EXL120 (9-42) strings.

Spyro, how much bili mo sa SIT strings ?Sa Lazer ko kasi nabili yun, P290 yata di ko na matandaan medyo matagal na kasi pero di pa rusted yung high strings, January ko siya kinabit plus nung pina-set-up and refret ko sa Elegee yung guitar di kami kami nag-replaced ng strings. Siguro malamig lang nung mga nakaraang buwan kaya di pa siya kinalawang. he he. Plus wipe the strings lang every after use.

I use almost any brand that works for me.I use d`addarios,ernie ball,Yamaha,Dean markely,Ghs, and now I`m using Rotosound(England made),They`re quite nice at an affordable price and it even has an extra no.1 string.Next,I`ll experiment on using is Snarling Dogs.Vic says they`re good too.On classisal guitars,I use Savarez,Hannabach,Augustine Regals and Darco by Martin guitars. :-D

the only problem with mariposa and the other brand, alice strings...they tend to eat your frets faster.
yup, i have and is still using 11's on my floyd equip guitar. You just need 2 extra springs to compensate the tension on the gauge. oh, i'm in standard tuning.

I use ernie ball 10's . Just easy and reliable. Cheap too. I source them bulk at 3.80 each (about 170 a set).

why?
- it's the cheapest, even cheaper when buying 3 packs or even more the ten pack deal.
- sounds decent i've tried alot, ernie's, fender, DM, elixir, ghs... the daddario esp exl series sounds good and feels nice.
- i use .09's coz:
it's light, i can take upto .12 but i prefer .09's coz it makes me do more technically. although it sounds thin, but a little tweaking in the guitar's eq and amp will solve it.
it doesn't eat the fretwire so much, which is the biggest factor for me, refretting here in europe is like buying a mex-standard strat.

I'm slowly switching to 9's again...a friend doctor told me to. I've been a 11's player in standard tuning for quite sometime but it's taken it's toll on my fretting hand. The doctor told me, if i continue the way i play i might not be able to play at all.
A warning to heavy gauge players, if you have a shooting pain on your fretting hand between the ring and pinky, watch out and stop playing, had to say it but that could be symptoms of the beginning of carpal tunnel. Good thing i still could play, i just have to get used to playing with lighter gauge strings again.
Yeah that's true. I'm still getting used to it, i'm now thinking of taking two guitars to a gig kasi i'm afraid i might break them kasi, i pick pretty hard kasi and i bend the snitsh!t out of the strings because i love over bending up to two wholesteps when needed. Kaya my left hand really gets abused after a gig, tapos wash the pain off with a cold bottle of beer. :-D bad bad bad :-D
With the thinner gauge i'm trying to play with more finesse and try to relax a bit more, actually i notice a slight difference in playing, nagkaron ng dynamics and it's much much easier to do legato licks. I'm somewhat enjoying but my fear of snapping strings in a middle of a song or worse...solo part! :lol:

currently i'm using d'adario 10's both in my generic strat-type(25.5") and sz320(25.1"). para "fuller" ang sound, para may konting laban yung string against my picking, and para lumakas fingers for bending. after a year, i'm thinking of going back to 9's dahil imbis lumakas fingers ko, mas nahihirapan nako magbend.
may nabasa ako na kayang daanin sa EQ para maging "fuller" ang sound with string gauges less than 10. manipis kasi tunog dun sa sz320 ko e.
tutoo ba na kayang daanin sa EQ? would there be fret buzz kapag bumalik ako sa 9's?

Last year, I discovered Black Diamond strings (10s, coated and plain) sold at Lyric. They last long and sound soooo sweet. The strings just moan. Have never shifted brands for a year so far.
Pity that I didn't find another poster here who uses the same. Or baka kasi hindi ko ni-search lahat.

hindi ba sobrang higpit na pag standard ang 13s? natry ko an yung not even slinky ng ernie ball, the highest i could go is a half step lower.srv uses 0.13 on a strat, sa jazz guitar .11 ang pinaka-mababa, .13 ang nsa rock at jazz guitar ko. i still can bend it 1 whole step properly, i don't bend strings higher than a whole step.

I'm not good at this. Pero we (my cousin does the choosing) use Ernie Ball super slinky. Nahihirapan ako dun sa ibang strings na ginagamit namin dati kasi di kaya ng daliri ko. Payat daliri ko eh. >_< Yung super slinky kasi sakto lang saken. Ok pa tunog pati sa maintenance, tumatagal siya talaga. Ilang buwan bago palitan. Brutal na mag gitara pinsan ko pero di napuputol agad hehe. Alice at Mariposa mas mabilis kalawangin (from my experience) eh. Snarling dogs naman, feeling ko pang expert siya. Haha! Nun ginamit ko un, parang ansarap gamitin kaso nakakapanghinayang pag naputol kasi amahal eh. Hahahaha! Ayun.. opinyon ko lang naman.

QUICK QUESTION MGA TOL:once pa lang ako nakatry ng GHS Boomers strings.. ahmm okay naman talaga siya sir.. ahhmm in terms of "acid" resistance eh tumatagal din siya, same as the addarios.. kaso ewan ko ha, correct me if im wrong, feeling ko kasi yung addarios eh tumitigas yung tension habang tumatagal..lalo na kapag floyded yung guitar at hindi mo na naluluwagan and strings after magplay..

DR Pure Blues pure nickel strings. I think they resonate better because of the round core instead of hex, and they give a warm tone. :)
and for the string care....i put WD40 on an old GHS Fast Fret stick. the string lives longer and lubricated rin. but don't put too much....
here's how i do it....
get an empty medium size na plastic cylindrical vial na may takip. spray the WD40 in it, iwasan maamoy,do it outdoor wag sa bahay. pag napuno na yung vial leave it open for 1day on a safe area where no kids and animals will trip on it,that's to pasingawin ang pressured chemicals (if you don't follow sisingaw sa bahay). after 1 day pwede na takpan. clean each string first pati ilalim na area with tissue. then soak the ghs stick sa wd40 on the vial, konti lang. then carefully glide the ghs stick to the strings. this will keep the strings safe overnight lalo na sa mga pinapawisan ang kamay tulad ko. do this after all days shredding, bago ka matulog. then before using shredding the next day wipe the strings again wth tissue to get rid of the remaining chemicals, wipe the strings. then it's ready for another day of punishment.
this tip is para makatipid lang. magkano ang D-Addario XLs? ang Slinkys? a set of strings for me live up for 2 days...putol na agad sa third gig due to my sweaty hands. with thwd40 it stands 4 to 5 gigs without breaking except the high E of course, because i bend a lot. tip lang po ito. it may help.
ingat lang ng onti sa paggamit ng wd40 meron yang harmful chem na nakaka sira ng finish ng fretboard :|

when you unpack and unwind the strings, check if the strings tend to "curl up" or twist in weird party balloon/decoration kind of way, this you have to watch out for, this is a BIG NO according to my source. but if otherwise (no strange curls or twists), it's ok.
elixir acoustic 11s ang gamit ko ngayon...kaya lang when i used it during recording, it buzzed and easily got out of tune. hindi naman bagong palit or something.

for the past 19 years of playing the guitar, marami na rin ako nasubukan na strings local, imported.
the fender flat wound sounds thick...usually used it on jazzy tones...if you're going to use this strings for rock solos, the tone you will get is somewhat blurred.naka2in nya yong highs ng tone. i've also used the d'addario. the problem, for me, everytime i used this string it only last for about 10 gigs. usually it will break na after that. the last I used and currently na ginagamit ko pa rin sa lahat ng guitars ko is the ernie ball. i can get the tone i want using this string.i used gauge 9. wheter lp,srat, or ibanez rg's gamit ko, nakukuha ko tunog ko with this string.
ung mga mariposa and other brands, mga pang back up lang cla.kpag no choice ka na...hehe
for the life span of the string, my eb strings last for 6 mos. sekreto lang after mo gamitin punasan mo lang cya.yon lang naman sekreto para tumagal string mo.

No, normally you don't need to adjust the truss rod. The difference between 9 and 10 gauge is really not that much. Specially if you are already using the LT-HB strings.

I recently got dr strings pure nickel and black beauty .10's. installed a set on my oBG goldtop, so far i am satisfied with the tone!
meron sa JB and raon before, i dunno if they still have some now, nakabili ako ng 5 sets dati binenta sakin ng 120 isang set, sa raon yun, way back in 2004. of course that's 5 more stickers lol (blue steel has a sticker btw) fyi, the strings on the .10's have some rust on it. talk about lazer and their strings, i had bad experience with them. so be wary and inspect when you buy.

Have any of you guys tried Olympia HQ electric guitar strings (10s)? I've already bought 2 sets from TMS Cubao, and I was disappointed to find out that on both sets, the 4th and 5th strings were not pure nickel wound (while the 6th string was). The output was very unbalanced, and the 4th and 5th strings started corroding/discoloration after a few week's use. At first I thought I was given a lemon stock, but for it to happen two consecutive times... Have any of you had this kind of experience with this specific brand and gauge of strings? :?

I use almost any brand that works for me.I use d`addarios,ernie ball,Yamaha,Dean markely,Ghs, and now I`m using Rotosound(England made),They`re quite nice at an affordable price and it even has an extra no.1 string.Next,I`ll experiment on using is Snarling Dogs.Vic says they`re good too.On classisal guitars,I use Savarez,Hannabach,Augustine Regals and Darco by Martin guitars. :-D

lower gauge also implies a lower tension.. kaya feeling mo rin parang maluwag yung strings or 'flabby'.. tapos nakadrop D ka pa, edi mas lalong parang ang lambot nun.. try a higher gauge.. 10s or 11s will do.. pero ipaset-up mo muna sa luthier pag nagpalit ka sa ganung gauge.. and when you use a particular gauge, make sure na ganung gauge lagi ang gagamitin mo.. dapat consistent ka para maging consistent rin sayo yung gitara..ok po boss chino salamat

ako i use d'ario gauge 11 sa les paul ko, had it setup and i use drop d tuning, heavy sounding talaga. ok lang naman ang gauge 11 sa standard tuning as long as it has the proper intonation and truss rod setup for its action. so far ang 11s ko mejo malambot naman.superstrat bro. Pero dive only na lang yung floyd trem.
and nga pala it also depends kung anong guitar ang paglalagyan mo ng higher gauges na strings.

i used to not-like the D'Addario strings because it discolors easily (since acidic ako) and it turns dark in time.. smells bad too.. hehehehe. so i switched to Dunlop 10's, then to Zakk Wylde 10's. mura pa sa JB music specially pag sale! now, from Dunlop Zakk Wylde 10's, i switched to D'Addario ProSteels 10's, mejo mahal nga lang like Php 340 sa Cash & Carry. why? it takes time before discoloration, it has more punch and crunch to the mean-monstrous sound that i am looking for. on the other hand, it can be as whistling sweet for Blues.. try 'em!

I prefer the same strings, although here, I can't always get those, so sometimes I have to settle for the Dunlops, Ernie Balls or GHS - whatever there is.

i have 2 guitars with different set of strings...one with 10s and the other with 9s...dati mas ginagamit ko yung 10s, but ever since i got this new guitar loaded with 9s mas ginagamit ko na to...so pag bumabalik ako dun sa guitarrang may 10s, mejo nahihirapan yung daliris ko...plus ever since i fell in love with the new guitar with 9s i've been a bend, vibrato and trill addict....nahihirapan ako sa 10s..may 11s pa ako ngayon na stock (D'addario) pero parang ayoko na ilagay... :-Dbenta mo sa akin yungg 11s na d'addario. joke.

I think its 230/set na yung pure nickel nila. I bought the steel coated ones as the attendant said its more "malutong". strings 1,2,3 are true but i'm not happy with the 4,5,6 strings. it sounds pale, feels grainy and old. i must have chanced upon a defective set. anyone knows about this?

Im starting to like and dislike Rotosound Pure Nickel 10's strings. Those strings sustains very well and that's good but whenever I do string bendings, ang pangit ng pakinggan. Good for those who play blues/country/mellow music but not for rockers and shredders.

Gaganda po ba ang gitara ko kung mag-guage 10 ako na string at mababawasan po ba ang fret buzz using 10's. At ok po ba magpaset up kay sir jun castro? I have been using D'addario strings for the past years and I have been somewhat loyal to that particular brand, now I have intentions of shifting to Ernie Ball strings, I read some reviews and comparisons regarding these 2 guitar brands and I was kinda convinced that EB's got a few advantages, except for the price though, I may be right, I may be wrong as well...

ernie ball slinky 9-42 gauge dati gamit ko sa ibanez GRG270JB pero after ko magpa-set up ng gitara kay kuya jun castro, ginamit namin d'addario 9-46 strings. pawisin din ako mga ser at madalas ako magpalit ng strings due to corrosion and stains nung ernie ball pa gamit ko kahit anung linis ko, pero so far the main difference that i noticed is matagal bago kalawangin ang d'addario, plus hindi rin mabilis mawala ung brilliance ng tone.

Dunno about the lifespan, pero sa sound, oks naman. Some forumites had problems with them though.

as of now. Settle muna ako sa roto yellows. I just change the E B G strings with La Mariposa 0,2,3 every week or 2 para sa P&W :-). I have a set of elixirs but im saving it for a special occasion (recording 8-))
Well for me all strings are just the same as long as they are the same gauge, the difference is if they are fresh or not :-D

It's been a few days sing Cayle strung both his RG and Tele with Elixir 10s. One thing I easily recognized, kahit iniiwan lang sa stand yung gitara, after a few days ay wala pa ring kahit anong sign ng rust or corrosion.
Sa D'Addario, iwan mo lang ng mga 4-5 days ng nasa stand at mapapansin na nagingitim na yung strings.
However, mas gusto ko pa rin mag D'Addario. Elixirs feel different. Parang mataas ang tension ng 10s nila. Must be due to the coating. Mahirap magbend eh. Nung naka D'Addario 10s yung Tele ni Cayle, lagi ko kino-commend yung magnadang setup kasi sobrang light gamitin saka masarap yung pakiramdam ng strings. Pero nung nag Elixir talaga siya, meh..
I won't be seeing myself using Elixirs as well. I'll stick with my ever trusty D'Addarios kung feel ang pag-uusapan.
Buti may GAS brother na pwede mag try ng mga bagay at his financial expense but with my knowledge gain. Hahaha.

Hahaha. Interesting ang Pyramids eh. Siguro if I can get a set for flat 400 na via meet-up at hindi shipping (dagdag kasi sa cost), I can try one out. Pero kung parehas lang din sila ng life span ng D'Addario, baka hindi rin ako magpalit.

Pero kung price vs lifespan vs feel, mahirap pa rin talunin ang D'Addario imo. Especially when you can get two sets for a price of one Pyramid.

Been an Elixir (Nano) user for quite sometime now, both for my acoustics and electric. Panalo sa tone and string-life. Kaya lang talagang mabigat sa bulsa, kaya I'm looking or a good alternative.
I've tried D'Addarrio, okay ang feel niya kaya lang, kinakain ng acid ng daliri ko :-D

These stings resonate beautifully and are much more consistent in tone than D'Addario's. They also sound much more alive and clearer compared to Elixirs. Plus they're really comfortable to play with. :)

The bending feel is so different, I like it.
I use Ernie Ball 9s before sa Strat. I've been using those cheap 9s sa JB with free pick (GTX ba yun?) for a year na. Tone lasts for around 2 months with 3 days a week usage. I bit tighter than Ernies pero 100 bucks lang naman. I wouldn't mind changing every 2 months or so.
My friend uses Roto Pure Nickel 10s on his Strat. Really smooth and warm tone. Might change to that soon.
Anyone tried Roto 8s? I'm feeling a bit lazy lately and Alex Hutchings tone doesn't really sound thin with Roto 8s.

strings react differently sa guitar na pinaglalagyan, i guess it has great outcome on yours.
on my end, elixirs sounded dull. kaya balik agad sa D'addario, not that long lasting compared sa elixirs, pero andun pa rin yung clarity.
Elixir Nanoweb 10-52's. Very silky feeling.
Naging dull yun bass and brighter yun treble. And nasanay na rin ako sa d addarrios, not a fan of sliding elixirs.

Elixir 10's. Well, almost a year na siya. Wala pa napipigtas. Tested. Hindi siya kinalawang sa ibabaw kahit di ko nililinisan madalas. hahaha! So pag durability, Elixir ako talaga. matipid. :)+1
dati .9s ako na ernie ball. well it isn't ballsy enough now, because the balls keep getting popped out, kahit .10s nila... strange because i'd been using it for years prior then they suddenly suck...
so now i'm using .10s na d'addario, regular lights...playability is still good. i moved up to .10s now since i'm playing more kaya lumakas mga daliri. i also like doing fairly big bends (1-step or more), used the way i do, a set lasts me around 2 months or so. i don't mind replacing them regularly as long as i get the dynamics that come with a new pack of strings :-D
planning to move up to .11s...meron kaya hybrid or something na higher strings e pang .11s then the lower ones are from .10s or something hehe gulo ko lang

Elixirs, although I don't like the feel... it has to do more with economics and practicality since I am in a remote area and breaking a string due to corrosion from a month's use is really a pain in the arse.

a friend of mine kasi is planning on shipping some packs of these new EB strings from the States. thought I might give it a try first before buying some from him. Like you I was using EB before but love D'Addarios even more since they have a thicker, crunchier tone when you do power chords. Also they make brighter harmonics and louder squeals, especially for metalcore, nu metal, or djent. since then puro D'Addario na gamit ko. I just wanna give EB another shot since bago lang yung Cobalt series.
Yes there are 11's up to 13's na gauge of strings. I use 11's pero sagad na yun for tension springs if you're using a Floyded bridge. If you wanna go for 12's and 13's make sure you have the shorter tension springs (47mm) for your Floyds or Edge, or better yet, go fixed bridge na lang. Recommended lang kasi ang 11's and higher for drop tuning (from C# pababa down to A#). For D'Addario, bago na yung packaging nila, but the quality is still the same. check out their page, sir:

Ernie Ball Hybrids for me ... my guitars are rarely played (probably a max of 3x a week, or 7 hours a week max, 3 hours a week usually and there's like 3 of them), they never rust!
i only change strings when one of them breaks. although there's a point where they sound really dead. rarely happens though. they usually break before they sound very dead.
reading the stuff here makes me wanna try out Elixirs. hope they dont break though

Been using it for a year now and I find them reliable in terms of durability and how long they maintain their tone.
I'm curious about this one. All I hear from these strings are good feedbacks. Di kaya sya madali kumupas at mawala sa intonation? And okay kaya sya pang floyd rose or floating trem setup? (^^,)

Anyway, di naman sa inaadvertise ko to, gusto ko lang din matry sya ng mas marami para maapreciate siya. Mura siya compared to most good quality strings and mas reliable siya so far para sakin. I've been using the 2 leading string brands sa market before I heard about this one, and so far mas reliable siya sa experience ko.
Last last month, naubusan ako ng set nito sa Lazer so bumili ako ng ibang set (slinky), tapos kinabit ko na yung set. Then nagrecord kami, while recording, naputol yung high e-string ko, pinalit ko yung lumang e-string ng snarling dogs ko. Maganda pa rin tunog, bagay pa rin kasama ng bagong set at buhay pa rin siya kasama ng bagong set sa gitara ko ngayon.
Ayan, napakwento na ko ng mahaba. haha

I use RotoSound strings, much affordable than Ernie Ball, D'Addario, GHS, etc., but the quality last long from my experience. Sa comparison ko mas matagal yung freshness nya compared dun sa 3 and the best thing is you pay less. :-D and I will never be in doubt sa quality nya as Guthrie Govan, Alex Hutchings, etc. as an endorsers? :wink:

D'addario 10.. at ngaun try ko 11 ang tigas :-Ddunlop heavycore sir yung akin almost 1year na sa june swabe pa din. naiinip na nga mga spare set eh. :wave:

May 2 bad experiences na ako with snarling dogs. Better go with Rotos or GHS. better yet, elixir nalang.

Pwede yun bro, bought a dunlop sets before at Salonga(I believe they are affiliated with JB) had two rusted strings for the high E and B just shown the receipt and they've replaced the whole set.
tumawag na ako kanina, pwede daw mabalik kung hindi pa nakakabit, kasi ibabalik daw nila un, pero need ko na kasi gamitin, saka ang layo nung pinagbilan ko sa place nmin...pero sabi sakin nung nakausap ko, after payment nirerecomend daw buksan, to check kung may rust, ndi nasuggest nung ngbabantay kahapon, and ndi ko rin expected 1st time mangyari e.. :-(
lesson learned, next time after payment check kagad ang string na nabili.. :razz:

You can start with Rotosound Golds. mga 250-300 per pack IIRC.
pero my advice is to string your guitar with DADDARIO EXPs or ELIXIR POLYWEBS. both 11's pataas. much better kung 12's :D
I use gauge .10 strings and I do use Elixir Nanowebs. No more to say. Period.
These......I was an Elixir user, the longevity of Elixirs are phenomenal, but the sustain is "so so", but these Pyramid strings are different, mismo yung tone, sustain is damn good1 I just wish they're durable.

Nakapagtry na ako ng Elixir Polys. Sobrang trip ko sya, feels new, pero tunog luma! perfect! :)
di pa ko nkkpag try ng polys, warm daw ang tunog, mag gusto ko bright hehe! saka tone is in the fingers naman daw eh :lol:

I did some research during my short breaks, and found out na walang ganitong set (actually may hunch na ako eh). So customized sya.
Hmmmmm, san kaya ako makakabili ng ganitong mga gauges? Kht hndi naman ernie ball okay lng (Pero Ernie Ball pa din sana syempre).

Try buying the gauge 10 7string set, tapos alisin mo yung gauge 10 kasi alam ko 13-56 yun eh, hope this helps

I've been switching back and forth between elixirs and daddarios. Daddarios feel and sound better to me but they just rust and die sooner :(
I am a long time user of D'Addario, Ernie Ball, Roto Sound, and etc., and I only had a chance to try Elixirs 10-52 for dropped C tuning 2 months ago and I was blown away.
The hype is real! :-o
2 months and still running, the strings still sound fresh and bright/twangy/djenty(or whatever you call it). :-D It still has no signs of rust or roughness especially on the higher strings.
They say Elixir strings have flakes on the strings on the picking part when it goes on, yes it is, but it doesn't bother me, I think that's the coating/treatment applied by Elixir.
Overall, Elixir is great investment for your guitars, for twice the price but lasts 3-4x than other brands, it's definitely worth it.
Still pyramids for the simple reason that they bend better ... for better hiyaw (heh heh) and that they sound bigger ... even bigger than elixirs.
Of course, elixirs will last longer in terms of brightness. But I am biased against bright strings. So take my opinion with a grain of salt.

bought a couple of cleartones in assorted gauges in 2015. it's still on my guitars. others have elixirs in them. still on my guitars since 2015 din iirc. i dont have acidic sweaty hands if you are wondering.
but if i have money and time to burn that will allow me to change strings every 3 days or so. i would still prefer just the usual eb slinky. love those strings to death but loses its freshness in less than a week. atleast to my experience. im talking about the tone of its "day 1 and 2" life.
Which one of the coated strings do you like better? Been hearing good things about cleartones lately.
BTT: I use D'Addario 10s for the simple fact that they sound and feel better than 9s. Wala pa akong experience na braeakage during a performance since gumamit ako nito kaya nagpapalit lang ako ng strings kung masyadong dead na ang tone.
Cleartones are not coated. they are treated. so, elixirs will alst longer, but Cleartones feel more natural (if youre finicky about the plastic feel of elixirs).
personally, I like them both. id use elixirs just because mas cheap siya. :D pero the cleartones are as good, if not better.

Yeah cleartones are good but not necessarily better than elixirs. for the sake of convenience i would recommend elixirs simply because its locally available. Plus its cheaper. Doesn't necessarily sound inferior to cleartones. I like it. I love them both. Though in curious to try those paradigms. Have ordered a couple just have to wait.
I used to play D'addarios as well before switching to Elixirs, sanayan lang din and I don't even remember how D'addarios feel anymore. Tried Nano Poly and just recently Optiwebs and I like them all though i prefer nanowebs most
