my stagg setup currently consists of: 10" sh splash 16" myra rock crash 16" dh china 21" dh exo dry ride
sasunod idagdag ko, 18" dh crash and 8" splash/china...
(sabian yung hats ko e, 13" aax fusion) :P
i love my stagg cymbals. quality sound without the need to sacrifice all of your lunch money. hehe.

both DH and Myra splashes sound great, bro. :-) medyo mas trashy ng konti yung DH, and faster decay. yung myra naman, brighter with a bit more sustain. talagang depende na sa taste ng user. :-D

A little review of the VB set as a unit.
The 16" crash is surprisingly loud with a distinct dryness to it. A bit bright but with a touch of warmness. Similar to DH Exo Crash 17-18"
The ride is A1 for me, I've been looking for this sound for a number of months before getting ahold of it. The bell is cutting and slightly bright with a hint of dryness. The wash is similar to old Sabian AA's but has the distinct VB tone that' s present on the crash and the hats too.
When I use them all together, the bell and the crash slightly stands out among the rest of the cymbals.
The hats didn't sound as good as it does today. When I first used these hats, they sound plainly dry and dark but after a while, it has a hint of brightness to it and the dryness became more refined.
This set as a whole is good for small venues. They're not loud so I think they won't work well with loud music. Good for Jazz, Blues and the likes.

I personally like those dry cymbals from Stagg. Killer finish too. The tone is just amazing. You won't get those from any Zildjian, Sabian, or Paiste cymbal. 8-)

I have an 8" Furia splash and it sounds great! I highly recomend it for a splash...
as for the Stagg line that are comparable to A custom splashes, yung Myra daw ang katunog, but for me I still find it trashier than the Acustoms...

Is it just me or karamihan sa mga nagdadaan sa Stagg eh binibitawan din nila? I myself decided to let go of my VB set weeks after using them. Personally parang ang bilis ng lifespan sa tenga ko? I mean, after a few weeks, parang hindi ka na excited na marinig, in other words, parang nakakasawa? Classic example eh yung DH crashes na mala alamat ang reputation as the best crash lalo na ung 17" pero lately sa forums, you see 2 or 3 DH's for sale or for trade. Observe na lang mga all-stagg users, I maybe wrong pero promise, parang iisa ang "buga" nila eh?! :?

well, ako masaya pa rin sa SH ko... kahit parang tumataas ang pitch niya ngayon. di ba dapat bumababa ang pitch habang tumatanda ang cymbal?
may theory ako e... hindi maganda ang pag-age ng Stagg. ang mga ibang brand kasi, pinapatulog muna sa bodega ang cymbals bago iship out. i DOUBT na ganun sa Stagg, kaya siguro parang narurush into usage yung cymbals imbis na magsettle muna yung alloy bago gamitin.
OR hindi lang talaga ganun kaganda yung production method nila kaya walang dynamics yung cymbals. once you get past the initial sound, wala nang depth.

My ears are not everyone else's ears pero parang thay have the same observation eh. I think hindi forerunner ang dapat tanungin diyan... ung mismong gagamit na lang. Kung may gusto kang hi-end line tapos eh na tsambahan mo na may katunog sa ibang lower model, eh di dun ka na, pero at the end of the day, kanya kanyang preference naman yan eh. Pag tagal, dun na lang magkakatalo... and based on my observation, maraming nagbabalik loob sa pinanggalingan nila, be it Zildjian, Paiste, or Sabian, kanya kanyang taste yan.

yes, i agree that the buyer should use his ears before making a purchase. each cymbals sounds different, so minsan, makaka-chamba ka talaga ng maganda.
regarding the production quality issues (including the others' cliam that the sound changes over a short period of time) -- baka nga may problema since china yun and it's still a young company. but personally, wala pa naman akong problema s staggs ko. i still use an all-stagg set-up, and the cymbals deliver every time. ganon pa rin yung tunog ng mga cymbals ko, kagaya nung bagong bili. i guess swertihan lang din (?). :-D

actually, it might sound washy to you behind the kit but it could sound really tight and defined from the audience's perspective. have someone play it then stand some way off and listen (with and without the rest of your band playing). if this is the case, putting tape/moongel on the cymbal will just make it sound dead up front.

ay sorry bout that, i meant sustain only, not wash. katangahan haha. i don't know why i grouped them as similar characteristics. =/
does the projected sustain sound lessen as the intended audience gets farther away from the cymbal? usually di naman ATA dinig yung longer-than-i'd-like sustain nung ride pag kasama na yung ibang instruments but i still don't like it. pero kung di naman dinig sa malayo, at kung makakaapekto sa sound yung dampeners, di ko na gagamitin. iisipin ko nalang "it adds more character to our sound" lol.

walang best. subukan mo lahat sa tindahan, bilhin mo ang pinakamagandang narinig mo (or yung pinakamagandang narinig mo na abot ng budget mo). sorry kaso walang shortcut kung yung pinakamaganda talaga habol mo.
metalmuhlisha: basta subukan mo lang na pakinggan galing sa malayo. cymbals that sound obnoxious up close could sound good from afar.

depende yan sayo kung ano sa palagay mo ang maganda,mainam kung subukan mo lahat ng brands.o kuha ka ng mga feedbacks sa mga users ng bawat brand. ako ang dahilan ko kaya bumili ako ng stagg aay dahil tight talaga ang budget ko. dalawa palang ang nabibili ko pero thankfully sulit naman. :lol:

ayun may listahan na ko ng possbile snare choices. bale nagiipon nalang ako ngayon ng cash tas pag may pera na, pipili nalang ako. kung may nachambahan ako sa classifieds next time, yun nalang, kung wala, brand new. choosing between the 13x6 bp maple, 13x6.5 tama metalworks, and 13x7 pork pie maple vented. sayang ang aga kasi magbenta nung seller ng 13x6 bp maple sa classifieds e! haha.

yung friend ko gamit niya nuon yung SH 16" china. after ilang months dahil madalas sa gig, nabiyak yung body nung item and yung keyhole may crack.. napansin ko po kasi sa SH china, manipis sya. but panalo yung tunog niya. yun nga lang manipis talaga so madaling mabiyak.. so ngayon bumili sya ng DH na china.. assessment ko lang po sa DH eh makapal sya and dark yung tunog.

kung masyado pang manipis ang medium crash, hindi na yung cymbal ang problema. yung pagpalo mo na.
hinay hinay lang kasi. hindi naman kailangan bugbugin ang cymbal e.

I wanted to buy a ZilBel at the show but i can honestly say this Stagg sounds better and is only £15 or 1500pesos vs ZilBel 6k...this 6.5" stagg bell sounds almost exactly like the 9.5" Zilbel. The Stagg and Zildjian Exhibit Booths were right next to each other so I got the chance to listen to both at the same time. and why spend more when i can get the same effect at a fraction of the price of the Zilbel.
bro meron ba nyan dito sa pinas?? all stagg set up ako eh., matagal ko na gusto ng bell
parang wala yatang bell dito bro.. sa ibang bansa pa nabili ni sir bangbus ung bell ng stagg. siguro bro try mu umorder sa stagg dealer kasabay ng oorderin nilang mga cymbals.. :-D

BTT: Yung mga bagong pasok na stocks nila puro yung new logo na yung style. May mga old stocks pa ata sa alabang branch nila. (I'm not too sure though, I could check it out for you next week then PM kita). Wala naman difference sa sound between the old logo pies vs the new logo stocks, purely aesthetic lang ang difference. taste-wise though, mas may dating yung old logos. :mrgreen:

True they're kinda inconsistent. When I bought my new Exo the sales guy showed me some stocks the differences are kinda significant with the other piece. Still they are amazing we just need to use our ears for what we want and what we need. Don't base with the Line if it's SH, DH, Myra, Furia or what, know what you want and then try every piece - hear it with yourself (Live) :)

swabe ang DH Exo's, mas may thrash at crunch ang tunog nila. Gig pies ko din puro Stagg pero binura ko yung logos. mas prefer ko anonymous yung dating. :-D

Just got my Stagg SH China 16". Medyo bitin ako sa tunog e, I need more volume and more thrashing sound. Yung Traditional Lion China 18" sana ang kukunin ko kaso andaming butas-butas na maliit nakakatakot baka pagsimulan ng crack or other problems kaya dito nalang ako nag-settle. Pero nung tinest ko against dun sa 18" mas trip ko talaga tunog nitong 16". Un nga lang nung ginamit ko na sa band rehearsal parang may "KULANG" hehe...hindi ko lang mapin-point kung ano yung "KULANG" na un..mga ilang practice pa para mapakinggan ko mabuti pag talagang hindi ako na-satisfy sa Classifieds na ang punta nya hehe.. b'new is 1450 nung bumili ako last month. 2nd hand is usually around 1K, though may nagbenta sa FB a few weeks back ng SH splash 10" for 750php. swertihan lang talaga. abang abang ka lang sa classifieds. :-P

I had 1 before (pero nabenta ko na din package sa ibang cymbals ko dati), very good 10" splash yan. Talagang feeling ko sulit pagkabili ko nun. Oo mejo fast decay nga sya.

SH 16 thin crash - trashy and dark. reminds me of my k 17 dark crash and k 18 cust dark crash before, though mejo bright lng ung k cust compared sa SH.
CS 18 thin crash (as my ride) - perfect for my taste, great ride sound as well as loud and defined bell. nice crash too, low and trashy sound, good for accent. < tagal ko naghanap ng tulad nito >
DH 16 china - hmmm... satisfied! fair enough... i like the part when i hit it and sh crash at the same time...(beeesssshhhhh)

dude two things:
1. hindi consistent ang tunog ng stagg. na mention na to sa thread. you really have to test each and every stock available and select what's best 2. kailangan alam mo kung ano tunog ng mga crash na gusto mo para icompare habang ginagawa mo yung step1
if you are choosing stagg because budget is a problem right now, then save, wait and be patient just a bit to get the exact cymbal model you want. no "alternative" brand can give you satisfaction of the real thing.

In the Stagg lineup, the "real thing" is the Traditional China (which is actually a rebranded Wuhan Lion). It is a real Lion-type China cymbal, made in the city of Wuhan in China. You can't get any more "real" than that :-)

Istanbul Samatya hands down (best to continue the topic sa Istanbul thread though should you decide to go with Istanbul). Else, we could discuss the nuances in between the 2 pies, with discussions re Stagg DH here in this thread (so on and so forth..)

for brand new staggs, check out The Music Source. kung 2nd hand dami dyan sa classifieds hintay hintay at tyambahan lang to get a good deal.
Its a ton of difference compared to entry level zildjians and sabians (planet z man or zbt/ solar man or b8's) dahil ang stagg ay b20 cast while entry level sets are either brass or sheet b8 cymbals (check mo lang wikipedia or i google mo, you will learn alot about cymbal quality, malaking tulong un) :razz:

I've tried them, personally mas gusto ko yung DH kasi ayoko ng china na masyadong Harsh Sounding. mas gusto ko yung mejo Crashy with a bit of Thrash lang kaya nag DH ako nun :)
Tska, IMHO, basagin talaga ang china na thrashy sounding, sadly... :( (i.e. WUHANs)

I've tried the three brands you've mentioned. Depende rin sa taste and tugtugan mo sir eh, pero to give you an idea, bigyan ko po kayo ng description nung each splash. (not too long lang, baka pagalitan ako ng mods HAHAHA)
STAGG SH - Very thin, fast sounding and blends with the music well. Not too bright. Not too dark. I actually loved this splash. nagkaron ako ng 8 and 10 inch na SH. and I can honestly say, keeper siya :) binenta ko lang kasi nagiba lang taste ko :)
ISTANBUL RADIANT - Currently using this splash. Thin splash, fast sounding. Bright sounding, pero not glassy (which I like) gusto ko kasi sa splash yung parang Tubig talaga. :) using a 10 inch radiant now and honestly, tingin ko mainstay na sakin to.
WUHAN - nakahiram ako ng WUHAN 8 Inch Splash sa friend ko. Steady naman siya. mejo makapal yung splash nung friend ko. I was expecting a glassy sound, pero mejo border line Thrash-Splash siya. and it's loud! sounds okay, pero di ko lang masyado type. my two cents lang po mga sirs!
So ayun, my suggestion sir, is visit our local stores to try the cymbals sir! personally, I'd advise you to go for either stagg or istanbul. :)

question lang po about sa stagg cymbals. very interested po ako sa stagg as so far nakarinig po ako ng stagg cymbals and yes maganda nga sila at mura pa. pero dahil sa nasanay ako sa zildjian and sabian na merong ZBT and B8 (entry level cymabls) meron din bang ganito ang stagg? pumunta kasi ako sa website nila eh pero hindi naka specify kung anong cymbal line up ung entry ung sa pro. or baka nagkakamali ako at lahat sila pang pro na at nag iiba na lang para sa ibat ibang genre? thanks po :)

Regarding stagg cymbals, as far as I know, wala silang model na made out of B8 bronze like ZBT and B8. Usually lahat ng models nila made off B20 Bronze. pero that does not mean na dahil B20 Bronze na siya, eh pro level na siya. the SH Models of stagg are meant for intermediate players as far as I recall. yung mga MYRA nila yung pang professional level.
But then again, there's no such thing as Professional or beginner cymbals. if you like what you hear, and you can afford it, BUY IT! hope this helps brother.

It all depends on your hitting technique and the type of music you'll be playing. Kung mag memetal ka, it's not advised na gumamit ka ng Thin Cymbals like Stagg SH. Pero depende pa rin sayo eh, I've used the stagg SH which is supposedly Entry Level, pero i really liked the sound of it. and hindi naman ako napunitan so far. Heavy Hitter pa ako nun brother.
wag tayo magpadala sa brand or rumors, ang maganda, testingin natin yung cymbal and if you like it, buy it. :)

Myra or Furia. Pwede rin yung Classics. they all sound nice. :) Pero ako, I personally love the sound of the Vintage Bronze. Tsalap.

I would suggest kumuha ka na lang ng tingi tingi kesa isang buong set agad. In the long run ibebenta mo rin ang isang buong set(sa mas mababa pang halaga) dahil hahanap ka na rin ng preferred sound mo and mid to high end ofcourse. Why not try to start sa mid end na Hi-hat muna, then Ride, then mga Crash and Effects na. Suggestion lang naman. Start na agad sa DH, Furia or Myra.

Maganda rin naman ang SH sir. Pero karamihan(isa nako dun) mas prefer ang DH. There's something about DH na hahanapin mo na wala sa SH eh. Anyway, kumusta sir yung VB na Hats? VB na Ride pa lang naririnig ko and I found it decent enough. Maganda rin!

Narinig ko na sa site nila yung tunog. Sobrang ganda. Pero gusto ko lang marinig yung mga masasabi niyo sa Stagg VB. :-D
Planning to buy a new hats kasi. So yung nasa isip ko VB hats or Wuhan Raw Hats.
Both are raw finish and B20 bronze. Pero ano pa ba yung pinagkaiba nila? :-D

Mahal bro. :-( saka yung mga tao sa Lazer ayaw magpa try ng cymbals unless bibilhin mo talaga.
Nakakamiss yung isang tao dun dati na inaasikaso ako pero ngayon pag pumupunta ako wala na siya.
Hindi ko alam kung di na siya nag ttrabaho dun or day-off lang niya lagi pag nandun ako. Hahaha!! :-D

Okay ang Stagg, budget wise.. Sound wise okay din, but you have to hear it yourself sa store mismo.. Then ikaw pumili alin talaga gusto mo..
Tip: -Kung gusto mo ng Stagg VB 14'' Hats, magpalabas ka ng tatlo o apat na model.. Test it.. Ang problema sa Stagg Cymbals kasi, same models, yet different sounds. Unlike sa Zildjian and others, pag kumuha ka ng specific model, kapareho niya lahat tunog non. Well for some. -Don't play the cymbals na malapit sa wall ng store. Instead, play it sa medyo gitna ng shop para hindi naman din agad sobrang bouncy ng tunog and may hinga yung tunog. -Be kind to the staff, lalo na pag ganyan na humihingi ka ng favor. They'd be glad to help you.. Matutungulan ka rin nila magdecide which is which.
All my cymbals are Stagg. Lahat tinest ko muna bago ko binili. Naranasan ko na rin bumili sa TMS sir. Mabait nga tao nila. Bumili na ko ng DH Exo crash at Myra splash sakanila dati. Aasikasuhin ka talaga. :-D
May inconsistency nga ang cymbals ng Stagg. Naaalala ko nung bumili ako ng splash at crash ko. Mga 4 na same crash yung nilabas at 3 na same splash saka ako namili kung ano yung gusto ko.
Parang sa lahat naman ng cymbals magkakaiba ang tunog kahit parehas ng model. Pero sa big companies like Zildjian, Sabian, Meinl, etc... maliliit lang ang difference sa tunog. Pero may pagkakaiba parin.
Tama ba ako? :)

I second the Suggestion.. Ang kit ko ngayon Hybrid ng Istanbul: Sultan Hats 13, Crash 18. Radiant Splash 8. Tapos Samatya Ride na 20. The best bro.. Sa mga gig/practices ko dinadala ko talaga to.. Kahit kasi Sabian, Zildjian, Stagg pa yung cymbals ng drums, hinahanap hanap talaga ng tenga ko yung Istanbul.. Tsaka yung mga gitarista talagang Nasasarapan... ummm.. sarap

Okay naman po ang durability ng stagg. Nasa pag gamit na din talaga. Yung stagg dh exo ride ko mga 3 years na sa akin tapos yung dalawang crash na myra at furia at isang dh na china, may 2 years na ata at lagi ako nagddrums mga 3x a week at tumatagal ako ng 3-4 hours sa pagddrums

(Kaso may crack na parehas. Hahaha!!) 18" Traditional Lion China - HANDS DOWN
Mismo sobra yung VB Hats. Kaso ginamit ko sa malaking venue sobrang talo sa volume!! Pati yung DH Exo Medium Thin. Malakas siya dati kaso nung sinandblast at pinatabas ko yung crack. Laki nabawas sa volume tapos naging sobrang dry. GRABE ANG SARAP NG DRY SOUND!!!!!!!
Kaso sa pagkaka alam ko lahat ng dry and raw/sand finish na cymbals bawas agad ang volume. Tama ba?
Pero yung 18" SH Medium Crash bilib ako sa volume niya. Sobrang lakas kahit malaki yung venue. Hehehe. Kaso di ko masyado gusto tunog niya. Parang rock crash na siya for me. Though may rock crash pa ang SH. Hahahaha!

Kapos budget brad eh. Hassle yung Origin Dark ng Istanbul. Yun sana kunin kong hats kasi yung talaga nagustuhan kong tunog. Sobrang layo niya sa VB brad. Sobrang dark at dry talaga. Kaso pagtanong ko ng presyo napaalis nalang ako bigla ng Lazer eh. Hahahahaha!

Namili ako sa 5 8" myra splash dati nung bumili ako pero lahat talaga medyo trashy.
Try niyo yung DH kaso mas dark ng unti yung tunog. :)
siguro best bet mo either SH or furia. may furia ako na 8", less trashy sya sa myra, may pagka gongy ng konti.

Hahahah. Salamat mga paps! :)) try ko muna ung myra and furia. Parang ang hirap kase maghanap ng size 8 na splash sa the music source festival. Lagi out of stock eh. San branch po ba makakakita ng madaming choices ng stagg cymbals?
Sa pagkakaalam ko bro pantay pantay sila mag distribute sa branches(Yun yung sabi sakin nung manager).
Pero kung sure buyer ka naman eh pwede ka mag down para kung may stock sa ibang branch irereserve na nila sayo tapos kukunin nila dun yung item para ipadala sa branch na pinagdownan mo.
Ganun yung ginawa ng TMS sa Mapex pedal ko before. :)

parang sakto lang ang choices sa bawat branch. pag wala, wala talaga for the time being. tsambahan din eh, tsaka mahirap na yung magrequest ka ng cymbal tapos lemon pala or di mo type yung sound profile at di mo bibilhin.

Oo nga eh. Like nung nakaraan galing ako sa festival, halos dh lang nakita ko. Splash nila size 12 pa. Heheh. Try ko din tanungin kung kelan magkakaroon ng stock. Mas okay sana kung mattest mo on the spot ung mga series para makapag decide ka agad kung ano kkunin mo. Thank you sa mga advise mga paps!Mabuhay kayo! :wave:

i got it new naman wala po akong pics nasa bahay po kasi nakastack naman po siya siguro tatamaan ko nalang yung part na may bump para pumantay ahahaha
mahirap kasi masabi kung kailangan mo ibalik sa shop or hammering lang talaga sya

last stock na daw yun ee hmmm ok na ako dito sa hammering siguro nasobrahan sa ibang part since double hammered siya ehehe nakastacks naman kaya di din lang rinig yung sonic properties niya XD

pwede naman humingi ng replacement stock para sa next delivery nila kung sakaling hindi yan feature ng hammering :) pics would really help though, sayang kasi kung tatanggapin mo na lang, you don't get what you pay for, kahit pang stack yan.
