yep he is a sloppy player but i guess thats what other people like about him :-D
i like him as well, he's my first guitar hero astig eh and i think his studio recording techniques are great as well

Jimi Hendrix was a sloppy player but everyone loves him. Kaya ako natatawa sa mga shredder. Eh ano ngayon kung kayo mo mag sweep ng malinis? May emotion ba?
Jimi, Jimmy Page, Clapton and others were very sloppy but had real emotion into their playing. Jimmy Page is the reason why I bought a Gibson Les Paul Standard.

Jimi Hendrix was a sloppy player but everyone loves him. Kaya ako natatawa sa mga shredder. Eh ano ngayon kung kayo mo mag sweep ng malinis? May emotion ba? Jimi, Jimmy Page, Clapton and others were very sloppy but had real emotion into their playing. Jimmy Page is the reason why I bought a Gibson Les Paul Standard.
RIGHT ON DUDE!!! FAVE ko yang si Page! nung high school pinagtyagaan kong zifrahin yung "Heartbreaker" niya, wala pang tabs at instructional videos nuon...tengahan lang talaga. pinaka gusto kong blues niya yung "Since I've been lovin' you", sarap din nung ad lib niya sa live ng "No Quarter". ako rin nagkaroon ng LP dahil kay Page... truly one of the masters!

Nabuo ko yung Heartbreaker at Fool In The Rain solo niya last month lang. Talagang hindi ako tumingin sa tabs. :lol: Pero yung Fool In The Rain iba tunog kasi naka-Blue Box siya dun eh gamit ko lang OC-3.

"Since I've been loving you" is my all time favorite led zep song. grabe sa emotion. parang umiiyak si page habang nagguiguitara!! hehe :o may time na halos araw araw akong nakinig ng ledzep for mga 6 months, di pa rin ako nagsasawa hanggang ngayon :D

you can copy every note pero hindi pa rin ikaw yan... at iba pa rin pag sila nag execute, at sa kanila nanggaling :-D
at hindi lang magaling, gwafings pa... ayy :evil:

Back when EC was so hot w/ Cream, graffiti of "Clapton is God" was all over the walls of London. Eric said he doesn't deserve to be compared w/ his creator.
At the hight of their fame, John Lennon said the Beatles is more famous than Jesus Christ... we all know what happened to him in NYC.

Lol. Don't bring religion into this. If he wants to call Page alpha and omega so be it. If I want to call myself the alpha and omega let us be. Page is divine and Clapton is God.

mga repa, check out the thread : the Yardbirds guitar riffs (na shock ako). Jimmy Page & Jeff Beck on twin lead guitars... nuon pa man "heavy" na talaga si Page, Tele pa gamit nya nun... actually yung 1st 3 albums ng Led Zep, Tele gamit niya... pati yung gtr solo sa Stairway, Tele rin ginamit niya sa recording.
Pag clinick mo yung link sa you tube dun sa Yardbirds thread, meron dun 14 years old palang si Page nagi gig na siya, Rakenroll na tugtugan niya katorse palang siya kaya malupit talaga... idol din siya ni Van Halen, may nabasa kong interview na pinapasok si VH sa kwarto ni Page sa Hotel na may tugtog siya, parang bata si VH na excited siya makita kung ano mga personal na gamit ni Page... sobrang bow siya kay Page. sino ba naman ang hindi, lalo na ng pumutok yung sineng "Song Remains the Same"... apat na beses ko pinanood yun! tapos nag ipon nako para makabili ng Les Paul. kahit Raon copy lang basta mag mukang Page... tapos ininsist ko sa banda na pyesahin namin yung Heartbreaker, Rock & Roll, Blackdog at siempre yung Since I've been luvin' you... dalawang buwan na zifrahan yun...

it was actually Peter Grant, Zep's manager who is a master in dealing w/ the press. He also managed a lot of great bands & established Swan Song records, w/c gave Led Zep financial & artistic control of their craft...
eto mga repa, share ko lang ni research ko about the "5th" man of Led Zep...
The Led Zeppelin era
Main article: Led Zeppelin
In 1968 The Yardbirds dissolved, with all band members departing except guitarist Jimmy Page, who promptly set about constructing a new group consisting of himself, Robert Plant, John Bonham and John Paul Jones. Originally dubbed the "New Yardbirds," the group became known as Led Zeppelin, with Grant assuming the position as their manager. His trust and loyalty to Led Zeppelin was such that his managerial arrangement with the band was via a gentlemen's agreement.
Grant has been described as "one of the shrewdest and most ruthless managers in rock history," and it is doubtful whether Led Zeppelin would have been as successful without him as their manager.[3] He negotiated the group's sizable five-year record contract with Atlantic Records, and his business philosophy would eventually pay off for the label. Grant strongly believed that bands could make more money, and have more artistic merit, by focusing their efforts on albums rather than singles. Live performances were deemed more important than television appearances if one wanted to see Led Zeppelin, one had to experience one of their performances.
Led Zeppelin's success in the United States can party be credited to Grant's keen sense of U.S. audiences and the vast underground movement that was sweeping the country.
Under Grant's stewardship, by far the majority of Led Zeppelin concerts were performed in the United States, resulting in massive profits for the group. Grant ensured that the vast bulk of ticket profits wound up in the hands of the band rather than in the hands of promoters and booking agents. He is reported to have secured 90% of gate money from concerts performed by the band.
Grant sometimes took extraordinary measures to combat the practice of live bootleg recordings at Led Zeppelin concerts. He is reported to have personally visited record stores in London which were selling Led Zeppelin bootlegs and demanded all copies be handed over. He also monitored the crowd at Led Zeppelin concerts so as to locate anything which resembled bootleg recording equipment. At one concert at Vancouver in 1971 he saw what he thought was recording equipment on the floor of the venue and personally ensured that the equipment be destroyed, only to find out later that the equipment was a noise pollution unit being operated by city officials to test the volume of the concert.
Grant was instrumental in setting up Led Zeppelin's publishing company, Superhype Music, in 1968. In 1974, he was also the driving force in establishing Swan Song Records, which gave Led Zeppelin further financial and artistic control over its products. He also managed Bad Company and Maggie Bell, who were signed to the label. In 1975, Grant turned down a lucrative offer to manage Queen. When he was once questioned on what was the single most important thing a manager could say, Grant's response was "Know when to say 'no'." In 1977, he was asked by Colonel Tom Parker to manage a proposed concert tour of Europe by Elvis Presley, but Elvis died on August 16, 1977, just as negotiations had commenced. Page has described Grant as groundbreaking in his style of management, explaining that: Peter had changed the dynamic that existed between bands, managers and promoters. He was a superb, canny manager.

Pero playing in Page's way is something else, di lang basta basta maacquire sa practice, you got to have the "heart" :-)

para sakin, ang pinaka mahirap sa lahat ng pyesa ng Zep ay yung "Rain Song". dalawang taon ko yata zinifra yun ( wala pang ultimate guitar tabs ng high school ako eh )... nung nag aral nalang ako ng Classical guitar sa peyups tsaka ko na figure out yung correct fingering at right hand technique.
Tapos after 20 years may nakita kong tabs ng rain song, sus ginoo... naka open tuning pala! pero trinanscribe nalang yun, kasi sa "Live" hindi naman naka open tuning yung gitara ni Page eh...
isa pang masarap adliban yung "No Quarter". medio "Dark" yung pyesa na yun... medieval at eerie yung dating ng melody, but Page still manages to squeeze in some tasty blues licks on his solo. ganun siya kagaling...

Lol. Jimmy James was one of the aliases Hendrix used in the Chittlin' Circuit.
sa sobrang lupit mag gitara ni Hendrix, naa upstage nya na si Little Richard sa tugtugan, natural apektado yung ego ni LR kaya sinipa niya si Hendrix sa banda...
nagtayo si Hendrix ng banda niya... Jimy James & the Blue Flames...

HAHAHA... mid 70's ng pumutok Led Zep d2 sa Pinas, Martial Law days nuon... high school lang ako, Hippie nga tawag samin nun, tapos naging Jeprox dahil kay mike hanopol. kaya ako naging gitarista dahil kay jun lupito, naka jam ko ng umiskor kami ng "tea bag"... Ultimate rock star si Tolupits, parang Jeff Beck pumorma... may syotang kanaster na parang Penthouse model... tapos naka jam ko narin sila pyaps, drummer namin si JB (the Dawn), those were the days my friend... wala pang shreder nun, ( hindi pa yata tuli si Yngwie nun)... tatlo lang ang kilala nung panahon na yun... Clapton, Beck at syiempre si Page! lahat naging gitarista ng Yardbirds... may plaka pako na magka kasama silang tatlo, Guitar Boogie. collectors item na yan. halos kumpleto ko rin mga albums ng Zep, US ha... yung nabubuksan para pwede mong gawin na mini poster yung album cover... buhay pa yun hangang ngayon, after 3 decades, still a Zep fan... RAKENROL!!! drum intro na...

Oo nga pala, who can forget Peter Grant's contribution to the band? But I still say, Jimmy Page has foresight and innovation to take led zep to stellar levels. His recording techniques are, at that time, groundbreaking! They just threw recording convention out the window.

The entire Physical Graffiti album reeks of awesomeness.
I totally agree bro! parang ito ang pantapat ng Zep sa "Sgt. Peeper's" album ng Beatles...

Physical Graffiti is Led Zeppelin's bid for artistic respectability. This two-record set, the product of almost two years' labor, is the band's Tommy, Beggar's Banquet and Sgt. Pepper rolled into one.
In a virtual recapitulation of the group's career, Physical Graffiti touches all the bases. There's a blues ("In My Time of Dying") and a cosmic-cum-heavy ballad ("In the Light"); there's an acoustic interlude ("Bron-Y-Aur") and lots of bludgeoning hard rock, still the band's forte ("Houses of the Holy," "The Wanton Song"); there are also hints of Bo Diddley ("Custard Pie"), Burt Bacharach ("Down by the Seaside") and Kool and the Gang ("Trampled under Foot"). If nothing else, Physical Graffiti is a tour de force.
The album's -- and the band's -- mainspring in Jimmy Page, guitarist extraordinaire. His primary concern, both as producer and guitarist, is sound. His playing lacks the lyricism of Eric Clapton, the funk of Jimi Hendrix, the rhythmic flair of Peter Townshend; but of all the virtuoso guitarists of the Sixties, Page, along with Hendrix, has most expanded the instrument's sonic vocabulary.
He has always exhibited a studio musician's knack for functionalism. Unlike many of his peers, he rarely overplays, especially on record. A facile soloist, Page excels at fills, obbligatos and tags. Playing off stock riffs, he modulates sonorities, developing momentum by modifying instrumental colors. To this end, he uses a wide array of effects, including on Physical Graffiti some echoed slide ("Time of Dying"), a countryish vibrato ("Seaside"), even a swimming, clear tone reminiscent of Lonnie Mack (the solo on "The Rover"). But his signature remains distortion. Avoiding "clean" timbres, Page usually pits fuzzed out overtones against a hugely recorded bottom, weaving his guitar in and out of the total mix, sometimes echoing Robert Plant's contorted screams, sometimes tunneling behind a dryly thudding drum.
Physical Graffiti only confirms Led Zeppelin's preeminence among hard rockers. Although it contains no startling breakthroughs, it does afford an impressive overview of the band's skill. On "Houses of the Holy," Robert Plant's lyrics mesh perfectly with Page's stuttering licks. On "Ten Years Gone," a progression recalling the Beatles' "Dear Prudence" resolves in a beautifully waddling refrain, Page scooping broad and fuzzy chords behind Plant, who sounds a lot like Rod Stewart. Elsewhere, the band trundles out the Marrakech Symphony Orchestra (for "Kashmir"), Ian Stewart's piano and even a mandolin (both for "Boogie with Stu").
Despite some lapses into monotony along the way ("In My Time of Dying," "Kashmir") Physical Graffiti testifies to Page's taste and Led Zeppelin's versatility. Taken as a whole, it offers an astonishing variety of music, produced impeccably by Page. On Physical Graffiti, Led Zeppelin performs rock with creativity, wit and undeniable impact.
They have forged an original style, and they have grown within it; they have rooted their music in hard-core rock & roll, and yet have gone beyond it. They may not be the greatest rock band of the Seventies. But after seven years, five platinum albums and now Physical Graffiti, the world's most popular rock band must be counted among them.

This is a thread I really wanted to join. Im a hardcore LedZep fan here (but not their diabolical claims). Theres no doubt magaling talaga sila. For many years na memorize ko n yata about 20 of their songs including solos and riffs. I hope I can get to know you guys and play their music together. I'm in Seoul Korea now working for a big Architectural Design Firm. I joined a company rock band club (Im the only Pinoy) where we play on a weekend in the office auditorium. I was surprised one time that most of my colleagues are hungry for classic rock music like Led Zep and GnR. They're very good and I get to be the Plant in the group while playing rhytm. Of course, the favorite is Stairway parang di pinagsasawaan. When we started playing Led Zep and GnR the membership of the band balooned to 50 from the original 8. Yet most of them just bum along during gigs, still the 8 are the ones playing music kaya lumaki ang funds namin imagine 50 people contributing 10 usd a month plus more from the Big Bosses who are all rockers din (Beatlemaniacs and Classic rock). Talk about cure for homesickness. Page and Arki Rules!

Sa interview ng Uncut Magazine kay Keith Richards, sabi niya "manufactured" daw ang Led Zeppelin.
Siguro compared sa ibang banda na magkakakilala talaga when they got signed to their record label, yung Led Z kasi was put up by its recording outfit. In fact, Jimmy Page would play for the Yardbirds. Yung ibang memebers di ko alam san nanggaling.
In terms of music, Led Z chose a different path for its music. Although some music critics consider "Helter Skelter" as the first heavy metal song, Led Zep was the first to evolve as a heavy metal band at the start of the 70s. Although one may observe that the band was all set for it as evident on their first 3 albums.
On the other hand, The Stones have remained to be a "rock n roll" band. Others have chosen, either the Beatles', Stones' and Led Zep's way. Pwede din Clapton's way or any other way. Depende sa music taste at impluwensiya.

anyway my favorite Zep album is In Through the outdoor. I just can't help but admire the simplicity of Page work on All Of My Love but my 3 fav songs are Rock in roll, Good times bad times & All of My Love

May sasabihin pa ba ako? Nasabi ninyo na lahat e. Page is my biggest musical influence and I don't know where to start talking about him. Kaya ako nagquit sa banda kasi ako lang ang mahilig sa classic rock and its unusual lalo na sa generation namin.
Na try nyo na ba makinig sa 10 albums nila non-stop and no skipping? Hahaha! Tried it alot of times. Try nyo tapos observe your reaction after. Medyo napapagod lang ako pag nasa presence na specifically "achilles last stand". Tiring album, in a good way. Try this guys. Masaya to!
Possible effects after listening to 10 Zep albums: Bad effect is you nakakawalang gana mag gitara kasi sobrang galing. Go get your hands on a les paul and start picking.

pero kahit ganun,i keep on playing zep songs anyway kahit sa kwarto ko lang.. :evil: favorite ko ang ten years gone( the band claims it to be their finest work);since i've been loving you(what else can i say?); kashmir(sonically authoritative!);rain song(all about substance);i'm gonna crawl(passionately in love);...the list goes on...and on... :lol:

GF bought me a copy since yun lang ang pinapanood ko sa bahay nila (copya ng utol niya). Have seen the docu many times and still find it fresh. Page still has the chops (not that he lost them), and he seems to relish the role of the mellow, elder statesman expected of the great axemen of his era (Clapton, Beck, etc.) Actually saw the premier here in Toronto. Page looks dapper in his black coat with long tails and thinning white hair. Nothing strange there since Page (to me) seemed to be the most sartorially-conscious among the Led Zep lads. But then again, hindi kaya proof-positive yun of the rumor that he really was into the black arts?

Salamat bro at nasakyan mo yung statement mo. Pero I have to say, maraming magdi-disagree sa iyo na tunog cardboard ang drums ng led zep. Maaaring in general yung sinasabi mong tunog cardboard during those days, pero hindi yung tunog ng led zep. Si john bonham ang tinatawag na god of thunder during those days and still is until this day, a lot of drummers would kill just to get his sound and skills.

i have that book too my friend. bought it at nbs for 135 php.though I'd like to read a Page solo bio.para mas in depth ang discussions on how he made those classic hooks. :)

When I was a kid, my dad used to play Led Zep songs on our cassette player every morning . Minsan nalalate ako sa afternoon class ko lalo na pag malayo pa yung kantang inaabangan ko haha favorite namin ng dad ko yung Black Dog, Rock and Roll tsaka Whole Lotta Love :D

Jimmy Page is one of the reasons i got a Les Paul.... lol :-) great blues player, he's a big influence on my playing style ever since. ^-^

As a hobby musician, puro Led Zep lang ang tinutugtog ko sa aking electric guitar. Meron kayang hobby group dito sa Philmusic na puro LedZep din ang tinutugtog pag nag ja jam?
