I watched his gig with the percussionist and all i can say is
SIR AYA YUSON ANG GALING NYO PO O___O :-o
the show was kinda riddled with technical difficulties and aya dropped his pick once...
I only watched a while (kasi i was actually there for an outing with my friends :-D)
pero i was really amazed at his solo arrangements of tunes like "Breezin" and "Overjoyed". And the improvisations were astounding. Graaaabe ang galing po talaga. But my only comment is that you two guys sounded kind of thin especially during solos, i think at least a bassist or a pianist would have made you sound a great deal fuller but the sound coming from only you two was astounding!
Sir aya, natawa nga po ako talaga when you were trying to explain improvisation to people tapos tinagalog mo pa :-D Sayang di ako nakarequest ng "The nearness of you" kasi nahiya ako nung nagtanong ka kung may mga requests. At grabe ang ganda po ng tone mo, then when i looked down to see zero pedals biglang i felt my GAS die right then and there :lol:.
ako po yung kid with the emo glasses na naka blue-green long sleeves at nakatayo sa right side mo :-D

pero gaya ng sinabi ko sa kanya dati...lagi talaga ako mesmerized pag naririnig ko syang tumugtog...kahit samples lang pag nasa lessons na kami, nawawala utak ko sa tinuturo nya...parang naliligo ako ng notes :lol:

Aina recommends you get a paraffin dip. That's where they dip your hands in molten paraffin for a couple of minutes. She says it helps her when her hands hurt from typing.

Sir, it DID NOT SOUND LIKE SH_T AT ALL!!!! I was there sa very front. Naiiyak nga ako sa ganda ng tone mo with your minimal gear. Pero sir, i could see nga the pain in your face. Tapos what happened there? I saw you struggling to get the pick out of your strap ba yun or your breast pocket?

First, that would've been a sweet gesture --- lending a pick to someone who dropped his own pick. Trouble is, i've gotten so used to Jazz 3's that i'm not sure how well i'd do with the wider ones.
Second, even if i'd been lent a pick, i still would've sounded like sh_t.

Re my guitar: Her name is Nimfa Banocnoc. She was made 5 or 6 years ago by Mang Fredo Oyao. The cost: 5000 pesos.
I then attached a Kent Armstrong pick-up. Cost: 5000 pesos.
My guitar case: 5000 pesos.
My amplifier's name is Tecla Banocnoc. Cost: 5000 pesos.

Jazz 3's po gamit ko, the black ones. I carry around at least 3 wherever i go. I'm like jim hall eh, i carry around a pocket full of picks :-D all kinds of them haha

First of all, yung gamit kong Twin Reverb sa Edsa Shang Mall nung July 14 ay hindi sa akin. Hindi iyon yung php 5000. Hindi ko ginamit sarili kong amp non.
Second, yung gear na gamit ko sa Myx guesting ng Wdouji noon, pareho nang wala sa akin ang mga yon. Yung pulang mala 335 na isa lang ang f-hole, wala na sa akin yon. Yung Digitech na multi-effects unit na gamit ko non, wala na rin yon.
Third, hindi ko alam kung paano na ma-contact si Mang Fredo ngayon.

Re tone... ewan, ang paniniwala ko po talaga'y nasa kamay 'yan, eh. Syempre may kinalaman din naman kahit paano ang gear/gamit at pagtitimpla, pero parang at least 70%-80% ng tunog mo, nasa kamay mo.

hay... i'm home. heheh. i've been browsing through the guitar forums only to find some topics i could relate through here. heheh. saya naman. so you're using a jazz guitar sir aya? kaka-acquire ko lang ng murang jazz guitar im leaning toward the genre < urban jazz trip >.
sana marami pa gumawa jazz guitars. heheh. ryt now i'l have to rely on my acoustic and my jazz guit <acoustic archtop turnd jazz> for gigs muna kasi. hope to watch sir aya next gig. thanks for sharing lahed

Studied Ricky Martin for a couple of years. Learned every note of that one album of his. Every note sung, every note played by every instrument... well, ok, not the drum parts but every instrument with discernible pitch content. I'm a nerd, what can i say?

Actually, hindi lang 3 'yon, ser. Marami na 'yon. As in. Last year pa lang, naka-dalawang solo guitar "concert" ako doon. Tapos bukod pa doon, naka-ilang togs din ako sa Edsa Shang na hindi sa Grand Atrium. Sa Ledge, sa 6th floor; sa 4th floor (... sa National Bookstore, sa parking lot, sa CR -- hindi, biro na lang 'yang mga huli).
Pero ukol naman po sa susunod na pagkakataon, hindi ko pa po alam at hindi pa po tayo naitatanong ng ating kontak.
Balitaan ko po kayo, ser. :-)

Actually, hindi lang 3 'yon, ser. Marami na 'yon. As in. Last year pa lang, naka-dalawang solo guitar "concert" ako doon. Tapos bukod pa doon, naka-ilang togs din ako sa Edsa Shang na hindi sa Grand Atrium. Sa Ledge, sa 6th floor; sa 4th floor (... sa National Bookstore, sa parking lot, sa CR -- hindi, biro na lang 'yang mga huli).
Pero ukol naman po sa susunod na pagkakataon, hindi ko pa po alam at hindi pa po tayo naitatanong ng ating kontak.

napanood ko once sinosikat? sa the block, ang hina ng gitara ni nick, pinapalakasan na nung tech na kasama niya kasi madami nagrereact sa audience di siya marinig, pero ayaw niya ipagalaw. inilingan niya yung tech. =)

Hehehe, the magical Jazz III pick of sir aya. I actually use jazz III's and try to keep 3 on hand at any time in case of "emergency" hehhe.
