drop garlic in the soundbox. it helps absorb the humidity that can get locked up inside. smells ok too. i've always done this with my acoustics, info from my dad who's been playing guitar since time immemorial.

ok lang kahit naka-store sa loob ng hardcase yung acoustic?

yup, sure is! you'll have a garlic guitar case. it doesn't smell so bad. boy bawang fanatics might wanna eat your guitar, so be careful. ;)

and at least assured ka na hindi a-aswangin yung gitara mo, hehe.

I know I have read this before...

Never bring your favorite guitar in any INUMAN session. I bring my Pampanga made guitar sa inuman (pede panghataw kung may lasing na makulit)

Good idea! and if it gets busted, we won't have to wait for the ara mina guitar to be sold for them to receive "housing" ;) you can buy another to keep them in business.

sorry for the OT, that blasted P100,000 ara mina guitar bullcr@p really peed me off  :madstick:

here's another tip, but for your acoustic:

drop garlic in the soundbox. it helps absorb the humidity that can get locked up inside. smells ok too. i've always done this with my acoustics, info from my dad who's been playing guitar since time immemorial.

wont' garlic be moldy after some time?

garlic is also utilized as an alternative disinfectant/antibacterial veggie and broad spectrum antibiotic, apart from its culinary usage. it is also used for antifungal treatment, so i guess having it in your guitar also keeps the molds away from its innards. more benefits :)  i've had a ball of garlic in a guitar for months, when i take it out when its dried up and due for replacement, i find it looking petrified ;) hardened stiff. vampires beware.

Did you know the easiest way to avoid premature string breakage on a Strat's saddles?  Yun tipong napuputol siya sa point of contact sa saddle?

All you need is a PENCIL.  You must "write" on the surface of the saddle that touches the strings before restringing.  You're adding some lead particles in the process.  Works well for me....

another pencil tip, for non locking nuts. shade the nut slots when restringing. makes the nut more slippery and keeps the string from binding. makes it easier to tune up and makes it less likely for your strings to go out of tune when using the trem.

pwede rin ba yan for telecasters?

maligaw lang ng konti: seriously, how many gigs here pay enough to justify bringing along a backup guitar? hehe medyo hassle yan lalo na kung wala kang kotse. unless sobrang mahal mo yung audience and/or music, di ka na magdadala ng backup.

True. probably in the case of a 3rd world guy like me, a backup set of strings  probably would suffice :)

Our guitarist in Mahasa brings 2 guitars in gigs (a 7-string and a 6).  He brings them along in a dual-pocket guitar bag he had custom-made kay Mang Frank.

i bet some folks wish they could tie a garlic necklace around their philandering partners, para 'di rin aswangin ;)

spray some WD-40 on a tissue or pranela, then use it to wipe your strings down. then after most of the rust is removed, wipe it down again with a clean pranela naman.

eto sakin, to avoid yung pag-rust ng strings agad, make sure to wipe down your guitar after using it. one more tip is to wash your hands before playing your guitar.

meron din nabibiling fretboard and string conditioner chuva, it's called fastfret (no not the forumite, hehe) it's a sort of lubricant (now don't get naughty, hehe) with an applicator. it smells good, and makes your strings and fretboard slippery, para mabilis ang action. plus i think it takes care of your strings din. mas shiny, manageable at paganda ng paganda habang humahaba... ay iba na pala yun...

i was thinking of this as i was reading your post, as backing music

wipe your strings everyday.(kahit dehins mo ginagamit) especially after a 2-set gig. use a smooth cloth. make sure it doesn't leave 'himulmols'.

may balat, as in, galing sa palengke. just toss it in the soundhole bro, no preparation required. :)

but if you buy plenty of garlic, crush the excess finely, remove the skin, mix it in a cup of melted butter with a dash of salt, add a dash of mccornick garlic herbs, then leave in the fridge to set. apply generously on slices of bread and stick it in the oven until the bread turns golden brown... instant garlic bread. sarap nito pre ;)

i hope it works for you as it works for me :)

bought a stick of that once. GHS fastfret. kala ko yung buong lata ang lube. pala, stick lang na may porous material sa dulo. lasted less than a month :))

for the price makakabili ka na ng dalawang malaking lata ng wd-40.

aaahhh sir correct me if i'm mistaken.  i've read somewhere na ang standard setup for a strat trem ay floating? kaso gusto ko lapat sa body yung trem. would i still benefit from this kind of setup? thanks

I dont think you need to do the Carl Verheyen setup if you want your bridge seated sa body ng guitar mo. The best you can do is like Eric Claptons setup na nakalapat yun bridge block sa body and tight yung screws na halos sagad sa body. That way your bridge wont move.

if i'm not mistaken, clapton also has his trem blocked, i.e., immobilized by a block of wood, so he can't use his trem at all.
