6k plus yata yung jagmaster kit

tapos 8,100 yung jazzmaster...tapos 4500 yung painting body and neck...

I suggest you do the finish yourself. If you can find a place that lets you rent out a compressor, BOOM! Bili ka nalang ng gun, hose, lacquer (or poly if you prefer).

There's an awesome feeling of seeing your work slowly taking shape--color in this case :-D

^i want to shake my body hehehe. :-D

tumitingin-tingin na ako ng mga kahoy na pwede. ano ba yung mga equivalent na tawag sa mga tonewoods natin sa tagalog? yung malimit kong marinig sa mga namumutol ng kahoy dito e kamagong, lawan, palo tsina(?), mahogany, tanguile, etc. may puno din ng ipil (Elena) dito na pwede ko kunin. is there a particular way of cutting it na dapat sundan? woodworking noob here.

As long as well-seasoned yung wood, pwede mo nang gamitin. Kung puno pagkukunan mo, kelangang ma-tengga muna yung blanks mo para hindi na gagalaw pag-cut mo.

Mahogany and Tanguile are reliable wood. For neck wood, I suggest looking for quartersawn wood for added stability. For the body, you can be a bit flexible. You can buy kamagong for fingerboards.

We can get you maple here if you want that for your neck.

Alam ko may picture ako ng grain orientation ng wood para may idea ka... Hanapin ko lang.

With this thread naalala ko yung green strat ni Al Librero, ganda ng paka finish and naiingit ako. It was built from a kit.
Haha.... thanks, Karl! It was the easiest finishing job I ever did, ironically. To be more accurate, it was build from parts coming from different places. In hindsight, di bale yung hardware and electronics, pero mas maganda talaga kung sa isang tao or company lang manggagaling yung body and neck to have better chances na consistent ang sukat.

You still have a picture of that Al? Please post it!

Well, since I was asked...  :-D

Clean shot:

May konting lomo effect:

The Warmoth neck actually didn't fit in the KnE body's pocket. Nakakainis, pero nagagawan naman ng paraan yun. If I could go back, I'd much rather order both body and neck from Warmoth. Yun lang, I wouldn't have gotten the Strat/Tele hybrid body style that I wanted at the time.

Pwede yun! Kaso mabigat ang Narra. Lalo na kung chosen siya for furniture wood.

Pwede namang nag-mix nalang ng oil finish mo. You can buy Linseed oil, boiled or not, mineral spirits, turpentine and polyurethane at art supply shops or National bookstore (maybe not polyurethane).

Eto just to give you an idea.

Yup, I know about that and tried it some years ago. I didn't like the results. While I will concede that I may have done something wrong (like the proportions), nothing beats the convenience and simplicity of opening the bottle, pouring contents sparingly on a clean dry cloth, wiping on the body and be guaranteed of great results.

Right now, I don't see myself doing finishing work again in the near future, so the urgency isn't there to prompt me to go DIY with the oil finish mixing. But it sure wouldn't hurt to have a new bottle of tung oil on hand just in case.

It's a mixture of black and green water-based dye I got from StewMac. I was actually a bit worried the whole time I was doing the finishing work. Akala ko sobrang dark nung timpla ko, only to see it get lighter and lighter as I applied tung oil.  Some people prefer the grain filled and sealed to have a real flat and smooth finish. I didn't bother, so salat mo talaga yung haspi.
