The black fuzz is more appropriate for that Jimi "Foxy Lady" tone.

i got to try the artec duo-drive blender last week. for its price, you get more for what you pay for. but it lacks something...maybe i should have tweaked the amp eq as well (but i wanted to test it at a flat setting).

semi-ot: any reviews on the artec pickups? got to try a guitar that time loaded with artec pickups (which sounded fine with me) but i want other opinions as well :-)

which amp did you use? duo drive user here by the way.

those artec pickups at TMS got alnico bars.

review ko sa kanila:

TELE: bridge - hot and fat
neck  - output is moderate but is very clear

Double rail for strat: fat and midrangey, but still has some single-coil sound character

i think it was a haydn. hmmm im actually debating whether or not i should get that duo drive blender or go for the muza fd55. though havent tried the muza yet :-)

yeah i heard about those pickups having alnico. im actually considering getting a tele neck pickup sometime soon (to replace the single coil pickup on my tele). just curious, i saw some rails for strats last time. are they good in any position?

just as i've thought, you plugged into the hayden. :-D that amp is very warm and fat-sounding in nature, so baka nawawala ung crunch na hinahanap mo. try tweaking the EQ next time when you test it.

iisang model lang daw yang double rail na yan so baka ginawa sya for all positions. pero sabi nung isang kakilala ko (a guitar teacher sa Yamaha) na bumili, sa bridge daw talaga bagay. medyo hindi daw niya trip sa neck.

OT: for extreme distortion, check out the FD-55

tested a few of the pedals. the 70's drive blender is my personal favorite. the analog delay sounds better than the boss delay pedals.

boss delay pedals have longer times though. but the artec analog delay sounds warm; good for those Eric Johnson style sounds

I agree with you, the artec analog is tru bypass and warmth sound ala E. Johnson.. and the price is very reasonable too...

For me i'd like to partner it with a nova delay for my dual delay setup

you can get by with the duo drive sa ganyang music.

however here is a comparo:

DUO DRIVE BLENDER
Pros: -you can blend crunch with heavy
        -drive sounds smooth
Cons: - drive might not be to heavy/crunchy for some

TWINHEAD
Pros: - tube-like sound at almost any setting
        - can get heavy (at Classic Mode, high gain setting)
        - 2-band EQ (bass and treble)
Cons: - parang ala e.. i guess the lack of rubber feet.

i dropped by hifi lounge in festival mall and have nothing but praise for the staff there and how accommodating they are to customers and prospective customers. none of the intimidation you get from other stores where staff shred like there's no tomorrow and look down on you. i make it a point to buy stuff from them maski pick or sticks for our drummer.

so, i brought my guitar and effects to see which would be a suitable replacement for my current fuzz and od.
chad let me try out the ones i was interested in. the guy was polite and very helpful. it was a pleasant experience if i might say so.

got to try the classic fuzztown, great noisy fat fuzz. gets a bit harsh when settings are all the way up. i kinda like it, might get one in the future. the dual controls are a bit confusing though.

the 70's drive blender sounded really good, from slightly overdriven to a crunchy OD. dial in the fuzz and it gets close to that of a rat. great versatile OD. doesnt add much volume though.
punkrock and motorhead fans will love this.

the analog delay doesnt color your sound. really transparent. this unit oscillates nicely, though the oscillations sound more like a crackly broken transistor radio, it doesn't totally drown out your sound. nice. i have an ibanez de7 and compared to it's analog mode, the SE-ADL will not give you the same crazy wall of noise oscillation. i'd like to get one in the future as a reverb pedal.

Cool!
