Tube users: What tubes are in your amp right now? Please enumerate. Tell us why you chose those for your amp and add some more insight about those tubes or other tubes you've tried...let's talk TUBE!!! WAAAAAAAAAH!

In my Champ 12, I use a GE 5881 and JAN Philips 12AX7WAs. They added clarity, volume, and responsiveness to the amp.

In my Silverface Princeton Reverb (currently undergoing mod to DR specs), I tried some NOS NEC 6V6GT and they they have that great Fender clean but old vintage tweed Deluxe sound when overdriven. I wanna try some Raytheons and EH on them when I have it back.

In the Blues Deluxe that I just sold, I liked using JAN Philips 6L6WGBs (aka 'stubbies'). They're more like 5881s, which I liked a lot also into a blonde Bassman piggyback.

ako stock tubes lang sa Peavey classic 30 ko for six damn yrs... Help nga kailangan ko nang panilatan agad ano ba maganda....

EL48s yan di ba? JJ's are the toughest, strongest sounding current production EL84s I've heard. Not bad sounding at all.

3 ruby 12ax7's and 4 sovtek el84's dun sa vc30. stock pa din. i've gigged with this amp 4 times pa lang.

dapat siguro bitbitin ko na din kahit mabigat.

Pre, yung sa Delta Blues 115 ko bale tatlong Electro Harmonics na 12AX7 EH at apat na JJ / Tesla EL84 / 6BQ5. Solve sa tunog, bro.
Minsan pinapalitan ko yung # 3 na pre amp tube ng EH 12AT7 (bigay ni markflo) para less ang gain.

output/power amp: four EL34EH tubes

on my vc30:

matched quad JJ EL84's on power section

preamp:
V1 (input): Electro Harmonix 12AX7EH
V2 (ch2): Some 12AX7 with no brand that i found lying around
V3 (phase inverter): Electro Harmonix 12AX7EH

meron pa ako isang extra 12ax7eh, yun dapat kay V2, pero i duno, weird, mas maganda tunong sa V2 nung walang brand. might try to put a 12at7 sa v2, parang mas maganda low gain kay v2 kasi

sa akin e me nagbigay ng NOS na GE 6L6 at RCA na 12at7, 12ax7 na mesa boogie tubes ( malamang china made ito) ala kasi akong makuhang NOS na us made e
nakabili ako ng 6L6 na gawa ng mesa boogie.. hindi ko ikinabit kasi na dissapoint ako..NOS GE's the BEST i heard so far.. SMOOTH and FAT ang tunog sa clean at sa distortion -- it sings!!!

Sa fender quad reverb ko. It has 4 6L6gc electro harmonix and 6
12ax7 tubes. Iyon lang kc avble sa audiophile. so far maganda
naman ang tone. D ko pa nasusubukan ang ibang tubes kaya d ako
makapagbigay ng comparison.

for my Traynor amp...
matched Fender 6l6 WGC QUAD - those little stubby ones, not sure kung ni-relabel lang ng Fender to from Sovteks... pero they sound wonderful. Noticibly higher din ang output compared to the stock 5881's.

preamps-JJ ECC83s .. and i just recently order a JAN Phillips 12AT7 para ilagay sa phase converter. hopefully to get more clean headroom, the JJ's are too high gain for my ears...

May I ask a question about tube amps? I have been a guitar player off and on for the last 21 years. My current setup is a Fender Princeton 65 (not the DSP). I am very happy with it and the reviews on this amp are very favorable. Bought this in 2000. My axes are: 1980 "The Strat", 87 MIJ Squier Strat and an 00 MIM Tele.

Why are tube amps more expensive? The technology is old which means the patents on them have run out. Technically, digital amps should be more expensive because of the R&D behind them plus the patent application and trade secret protections.

I know it can't be the sound. I don't want to start a debate on which sounds better. My query boils down to the price. Is it a marketing gimmick? It's like comparing the Porsche Cheyenne to the VW Taureg or the Toyota Land Cruisier to the Lexus model. They all the have the same bodies.

whatever came with my amp..

too many tubes in an AC30.. and can't really see what brands.. i can see them glowing happily from the air vents though

langya kasi amp mo laglag mga aklat sa shelf pag tumugtog. and thats only the "crunch" channel haha

EL84s sila pero yung tunog nya pumapanget na so I guess it's time to change... Naisip ko ngang bilin yung delta blues ang lapad kse tumunog sarap pang blues...

when i tried my guitar after getting my first tube amp, hindi ako makapaniwala na kayang gawin ng isang bulok na gitara yung ganun kagandang tunog.
hulaan nyo nangyari nung 1st time kong sinubukan dun sa tube amp yung US tele ko.. ganito yung pakiramdam:
para kang inisplitan ng GF mo tapos alam nyo yung pakiramdam na masakit sa tiyan? p*cha! ganon yung pakiramdam. para kang maiiyak na majejerbaks sa ganda ng tunog.
hindi ko na sasabihin yung pakiramdam nung sinubukan ko yung bridge nung tele para makarinig ng "tele-twang".
