I agree with all the above sa bad trip ng floyd. But my main axe is still floyded and wouldn't replace it nor block it. Bad trip talaga sya, but to get its benefits, you have to live with its parameters. Pag nagpalit ka pa ng string gauge, say from .09 to .10, you have to adjust the spring tension pa. Bad trip talaga if you're not mechanically inclined !
Tapos talaga ang gabi mo kapag naputulan ka ng string. Thats why for gigs I always carry a backup guitar.
Nice thing about it though, is that if you engage the whammy (that's what it's for) your guitar doesnt go out of tune. Try a nosedive on a Bigsby equipped guitar ! Ditto with whole note bends. Try doing that on a Les Paul. Broken in or not, your string will not return to its normal pitch after a whole note bend. And I've very rarely gotten a string break from a huge bend on a floyd. Yes, it's harder to hit your bend note, kasi bumibigay yung trem springs, but that aside. your guitar will generally stay in tune. Pag practice nga, my guitar goes directly from the case and into the jam. Kadalasan (not always) wala nang tono-tono !
It's really not for everyone
