Soundclips ng newly installed Entwistle Darkstar (bridge) ko.

http://soundcloud.com/clarence-garcia/entwistle-darkstar

Eto ang unang humbucker pickup na nagustuhan ko talaga. May saktong bite para sa sa riffs at power chords, at kaya ring mag-cut sa mix kapag mag-solo. For its price, win choice ang Entwistle Darkstar. Naka-pair sa Artec HBBA-XBB neck humbucker yung Darkstar ko.

Kung meron man akong gustong baguhin sa Darkstar, yun ay yung print sa pickups mismo. Hahaha. Other than that, perfect!

hanep sa demo! heavygats!

hello! planning to replace my stock Ibby humbuckers to Artecs.

any suggestions? I play mostly old school rock, metal, alternative and grunge... and occasional pop and soft stuff.

yeah, something loud, warm, and with lotsa sustain :)

Try the darkstar sir. Tone in my GRG made significant changes when i changed it. Ganda ung bridge PU nya. Ung neck feel ko medyo muddy. Pero nawawala naman ung pagkamuddy pag naka coil split so aun. Not sure though, baka nasa pagkasetup lang ng sakin  :-D
I may try the HDN for my neck PU if I'll have some spare moolah

Check out the Artec Rails but I suggest you modify your guitar to a fat strat (SSH) for death metal.  :-) :-)

Try out the rails, dunno if it would suffice for death metal. what i meant was modify your existing guitar to fit in a humbucker.  Single coils+high gain pedals= noise galore.  :-)

I think yung Darkstar parang Super Distortion not sure about that pero yan kasi sabi ni Sir Dax.. I haven't tried Di Marzios and Duncans pero masasabi ko lang may laban tong Entwistle sa kanila..  :-D

^thanks for that! how about the HDN?

H-H kasi config ng RG ko, I'm thinking of imitating the PGM401's splitting.

may recommended ba kayong splitting config for a Darkstar + HDM combination? thanks!

Gold Entwistle HV58's on my Bills Brothers LP Custom

I didn't want to depend on a maybe from TMS, so I went ahead and ordered these from Ebay. Good thing I did. I checked Hi-Fi Lounge last weekend and wala talaga silang gold-covered pickups.

I'll try to keep things in perspective here.

For the most part, they look well made - they're definitely generously potted, which is a good thing. But I swear I wouldn't mind spending an extra dollar or two if Artec used sturdier wiring. Having them longer would be nice too, as there was little allowance left for the neck pickup's wiring by the time the other end made it to the electronics cavity of the Les Paul.

Sound-wise, I'll need to explain. This particular pickup change of mine was a downgrade (I had a pair of Bill Lawrence L-90's on the LP previously) and I heard a noticeable drop in clarity. But I expected that. The sound isn't anything mind blowing, but the HV58's are still definitely better than any stock/OEM MIK, MIC or even MIJ pickups I've heard, and that includes the stock pair of my Les Paul. The stock pickups were downright muddy. While the HV58's still accentuated the already warm inherent tone of the guitar, I wouldn't consider it muddy at all. It's that vintage tone thing, I guess.

I still favor my Lawrences, but they're nearly twice as expensive as the HV58's and not as easy to procure. A Seymour Duncan '59 costs nearly three times as much. So, with options like the Artec/Entwistle along with my favorite Bill Lawrences, I don't think I'll ever think of buying a Duncan or Dimarzio again.

For sure yan. I'm using the darkstar neck with my dimarzio super distortion.:)

nope, i was wrong, kakabili ko lang kanina ng Entwistle DS neck pup, the sale person give me the exact specs written on there category list. then tiningan ko iba nga.

neck:
dc resistance: 16k
eq: low 8, mid 8, hi 7

bridge:
dc resistance: 16.5k
eq: low 8, mid 7, hi 8.5

Entwistle DS is a copy of Dimarzio superdistortion according to the category list given to me by the salesperson. basically pwede mo ilagay yun neck pup's sa brigde pup's vice versa depende sa gusto mo.

i'm lucky since out of stock yun DS bridge, nakahanap ako ng 2nd hand sa classifieds. mapapabili na sana ako both neck pup's
