hi, i'm an intermediate guitar player and have been playing the guitar for quite some time already. but i've always wanted to play like paul gilbert and eric johnson. which do you think would really help me improve my playing?

a. self study using tutorial videos and the internet
b. take lessons from a really good guitar teacher

all comments/suggestions are welcome. thanks! :)

I think if you have the self-discipline to work at it and a good metronome, you could do it yourself.  There are lots of lessons you could download on the net anyway.  I prefer getting a teacher if I've got extra cash.  There's something about someone pointing out bad playing habits that could also serve as useful down the line.

do all of those...pay your dues...and you'll be shreddin' like PG and singing (w/ your guitar) like eric johnson...

be open to all kinds of music, techniques, theory...blah blah blah...

basta...be open...
