Give me Head if you wanna go to Dredd!!!
« on: June 23, 2006, 02:02:46 PM »
What is it about the 'heads?

Which 'heads - the Eraserheads, or the Talking Heads or the Sleepyheads?

Ever notice just how many bands have the word "head" in them?

Just to name a few:
Motorhead
Portishead
Lemonheads
Radiohead
Futureheads
and the list goes on...

There is even a website dedicated to this phenomenon:

http://www.headbands.com/

Listen to Radio Dredd tonite as we go on a Head Trip and feature our
favorite songs from these Head bands!

Listen also to a new feature called:
Prof Ramone's New Songs That Kick Ass

Blow your heads!

Seen any good movies lately?

Then you're gonna trip on the latest lesson in
the Radiodredd School of Rock!

This week's topic: Cinema

Tune in as the geeks play music that has anything and everything to do with
their favorite movies!

No, we won't play the theme song of The Bodyguard!

Listen to stuff from King Missle, Jesus and Mary Chain as well as movie songs
from our own Sonnet 58 and Narda, and many more!

Trip on our Trivia Question of the Week and win fun prizes!

For you movie morons out there, we still have "Prof Ramone's New Songs That
Kick Ass" for the second half of the show!

Bring out the popcorn!

World Cup fever at Radiodredd...the geeks are into sports???
« Reply #3 on: July 07, 2006, 01:05:30 PM »
The music geeks are into sports???

Don't worry. We're watching soccer from the safety of our living rooms (except for The Beadle, Mario and Prof E Moe, who watch it live in Gweilos).

As a tribute to the World Cup, which has captivated the whole world (except the US and the Philippines), we will be featuring music from the countries that participated in this event.

Tune in to Radiodredd and listen to another Geography lesson:
->From host Germany: industrial rock by Rammstein and Einsturzende
Neubaten;
->From France: Air and Phoenix
->From Brazil: Os Mutantes
->From Portugal: Juana Molina
->The Ukranians, The Afghan Whigs, The Darkness from England,
...and many more!

For those who couldn't care less about soccer (as if any of those songs have the slightest thing to do about football), we still have our segment called "Prof Ramones New Songs That Kick Ass." Listen to new, unreleased stuff from Drip, Juan Pablo Dream, etc., etc. and whatever the hell else we feel like playing at the time!

GET A KICK. TUNE IN!

After last week's foray into sports tired us out, we are back to our
favorite pastime - Comics!

Yes folks, in the School of Rock, comics are considered educational!
And a lot of musicians and songwriters will agree. Once again the geeks were overwhelmed this time with the sheer number of comic and graphic novel-inspired music out there. Forgive us for not featuring more, but the show is only for an hour!

Listen to comic inspired music from Devo, Marty McFly, Daft Punk,
Kiko Machine, L7, Citric Maple, The Metasciences, Purple Chickens and many others!

And to support to fellow geeks (and also because they asked DJ Skul
and Ramone to be judges), we are plugging this weekend's comic (er sorry, Graphic Novel) geekfest:

The New Worlds Alliance and Fully Booked present:
 The First Philippine Graphic/Fiction Awards
July 15, 2006 * Rockwell Tent, Power Plant Mall

Don't forget to bring your laser sword, you nerd!

TUNE IN AND VEG OUT!

Genealogy: Hit the Pavement!
« Reply #5 on: July 19, 2006, 07:21:44 PM »
From Wikipedia:
"Genealogy is the study and tracing of family pedigrees. This
involves the  collection of the names of relatives, both living and
deceased, and  establishing the relationships between them based on
primary,secondary  and/or circumstantial evidence or documen...blah,
blah, blah, blah..."

This time the geeks at Radiodredd would like to feature one of their
all-time  favorite nerd bands of all time - Pavement!

Attend our Geneology lesson this Friday as we trace the family tree
of Pavement and Pavement-influenced bands! Learn about the history
of the band that refused to be classified and consequently turned
the burgeoning 90s American indie-rock upside down. Check out the
bunch of acts that were spawned when Pavement broke up.

We've got songs from:
Pavement
Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks
Silver Jews
Preston School of Industry
Sonic Youth

From Prof Ramone and his gang, new stuff from:
Markus Hiway
Juan Pablo Dream
Mu Arae Transmission
Whitest Boy Alive
Camera Obscura

And for "Show and Tell", our guest that night is also
unclassifiable:
Markus Adoro will be joining us to plug his new creation that may or
may not be made of pavement, Markus Hiway!
