hi,

can anyone recommend a locally available shotgun mic for production work?

a nice cost-effective XLR model should suffice.  will not be using a mixer so i will just connect it straight to the video cam and use its phantom power.

Check out the Rode M3. It's not a shotgun mic but a condenser, you might find it interesting.
