Parang hindi na to low-end. Mataas ang standards sa japan with regards to quality. Marami produkto ang Japan na sa ibang bansa ginagawa/manufacture para makatipid sa production costs pero di nangangahulugan na mababa ang quality ng mga ito. (boss, zoom, etc.)

I have a funny, funny feeling na hindi ibebenta to sa atin ng direkta. Those guitars are intended for the market they are earmarked kaya may duda ako. But you can never tell if those makers have some surplus.

I think what our shops should do (JB, Lyric, RJ, Yupangco, The Music Source) is to talk to the head honchos of Bacchus in Japan and make these interesting products available to us Pinoys. Sana lang:
1. Wag nang dalhin pa sa Japan tapos ibabalik sa atin to induce more markup in profit.
2. Wag substandard or the super low end products ang ibenta sa atin. Since Bacchus is not a very popular brand, it can still sell its top products competitively.

I love the Tom Anderson clone superstrats they have.

I really hope they get released here.

We're a big player in the outsourcing business and, given our history and culture, it makes sense that we do well as an outsourcing destination for quality guitar brands. Pasalamat na tayong makilala talent ng Pinoy, kahit di naman ma-afford ang mga brands na yan.

Silver lining: Outsourcing always produces a peculiar externality: technology transfer (from foreign to local). Eventually, matra-transfer din ang luthiery and guitar production know-how na yan sa mas maraming Pinoy. What we really need is a Pinoy guitar BRAND or factory willing to produce for local brands na mas abot-kaya.

This presents an interesting dilemma to those who are skeptical of local luthiers vs. foreign luthiers. Hehe.

upon further reading, i found out that "key's handmade guitars" are based in cavite. would our knowledge of this be beneficial? or destructive? i am having second thoughts about this.

benefits:

quality (affordable?) guitars made by pinoys for pinoys with the endorsement of japanese quality control. something that RJ guitars never had. it almost seems that we, as a people, would look to something with higher value if a foreign country approves of it. i kind of call this the "rizal effect". rizal wasnt anyone worth mentioning before he garnered accolades from foreign countries.

negative repercussions:

there might be a drop in quality control or an increase of price when the volume of production rushes to meet higher and higher demands.

i'm from Cavite. where is this exactly? haha
he who hesitates, masterb@#$!

Actually, highschool ako nagkaroon ako ng chance tumambay sa isang guitar factory sa fairview, lahat crude materials pero ok naman yung mga guitars na nagagawa nila. ang kailangan lang natin eh steady supplier of wood, fret wires and that's it. ofcourse, a garage or workshop is also needed. then slowly build your skills there, since it has to start somewhere somehow.
