The mic porthole besides being there for miking the drum live, provides a little more "thud" to your bass drum.  It get's rid of some resonance and ringing which is why rock drummers prefer it and jazz drummers (who want the full tone of a singing bass drum) hate it.

ahh! thanks for the info desserfox, although OT na yung tanong, and i found a thread about putting a port hole.
thanks for answering, im planning to put a port hole to my kick!

Guys saan kaya makakabili ng 6" octoban skins preferably REMO pinstripe or clear emperor? Balak ko kasi magpa-custom made ng octobans kay wax_statix.

kung Remo...

Ambassadors. Snare batter/reso, tom batter/reso. siguro pwede rin coated CS dot sa snare batter.

sa bass drum, Powerstroke 3.

(ako lang ba ang taong ayaw sa 2ply?)

Kanyakanya kasing trip yan ng tunog eh.

Hehe. Basta for me, best yung Ambassador/CS Ambassador.

For kick naman, Try niyo yung Pinstripe.  :-)

kelangan ba "tight" talaga yung pag kakabit?? :? as in "tight".
even nakalagay kasi yung snare wires "townggg" padin yung tunog. :-o
