Pano po pakantahin yung feedback? Like what the second guitarist does in this vid:http://youtube.com/watch?v=OxowWo_XV_c&search=coheed%20and%20cambria%20starland. Around the 26 second mark up to the 44second mark..

They're called "Pinch Harmonics"

Hold the pick close to the edge, then as you pick the string make sure the pick and the meaty side of your thumb hit the string at the same time.

the intensity of your pinch harmonics also has a lot to do with your gain setting, your pickup output, your strings, and your technique to control the squeal.

Some notable artists that I listened to to learn this technique: DImebag from Pantera and Randy Rhoads. Some newer artists like Killswitch Engage and Coheed are bringing this technique back. Gotta love 80's style guitar.

Vito Bratta is my favorite when it comes to this technique.  Pakinggan mo yung Wait tsaka yung Cry For Freedom.  Super bangis yung mga pinches ng mga yun.

Nuno Bettencuort also had a guitar lesson once regarding this.  You can experiment with pinch harmonics by shifting the location of your picking hand as to where you'll be executing the technique.  You'll get different pitch results by doing so.

By observing the video, it looks like a good volume pedal and a sustainer (or really badass pickups...maybe EMGs or something) would even bump stuff up notches to help push the technique to a different level as well.

use a hollowbody guitar tapos tapat mo sa amp mo!

hehehe

actually, has anybody tried to blow up a hollowbody while doing ridiculous feedback? i mean i don't know, but i tried it onstage and it felt like the guitar was gonna be ripped to shreds..

I'd rather be sharp than flat.

Dalawang suggestion:

1) Booster pre gain disto pedal tapos control mo na lang ang gitar volume knob.

2) E-Bow!

OT: would a sustainer pickup help also? hunbucker or single coil sustainers by sustainiac or fernandes?

Nooooo. Di siya pinch harmonics. Hell, nagsisingit ako ng pinch harmonics sa lahat ng tinutugtugan ko.

What is it with people replying to my question-posts and replying with pinch harmonics?!

Pati dun sa screaming into your guitar, pinch harmonics din ang sabi.

i have an E-Bow Plus. ang hirap gamitin sa umpisa pero once you get the hang of it, kahit sweep picking na sobrang bilis ang dali dali na gawin sa E-Bow then yung feedback control pwedeng i-set at the same or harmonic (higher pitch) :)
