I find Progressive Rock awesome (I randomly listen to though, I don't get their band names hehe). Pop is overtaking this country now and it should be eliminated haha, many people revolve their life around pop haha.

Guys!!mahirap talga Prog dito!!!ako nga eh may banda gusto ko din Prog talga!!pero diba you have to think of your audienc din if thay can appreciate your music. Oo nga buti pa mga pogi rock!!!!nakakinins pero totoo!!!they gain much more popularity in their looks rather than their music!!!nakakinins talga!!!pag-narinig mo naman sa live eh di ko alam!!!heheh!!!So siguro mas-ok if paunti unti!!!sa mga nag-babanda that aspire's to do progressive riffs kahit paunti-unti lang lagay nyo sa mga songs nyo!!!!!
Also tama din depende din sa country!!lokk at Japan, before they would listen to folksongs sa local music scene nila. Parang Novelty songs natin. But when their economy progressed, lahat nag-sunuran!!!kasam na dun ung Arts nila!!!So dun nila na-appreciate ung prog!!!Try to listen to Japanese songs ngayon!!ang lupet ng mga riffs and beats!!but when you translate the lyrics mababaw lang!!!kasi appreciated na sa kanila un!!!
Siguro dito sa atin eh matatagalan pa!!!Siguro kailangan ng isang malupet na Prog Band na Foreign na mag-concert dito para lahat ng musikero is ma-inspired!!!I heard John Myung said during his Clinic dito sa Manila, that Dream Theater will come to Manila and have a concert soon!!!Pucha ang tagal!!!heheh!!

naiinis din ako sa mga ibang banda natin na dinaan sa kapogian ang pagsikat pero di naman talaga jeproks. gusto ko prog rock di ko alam na meron pala pinoy band na "prog". sa foreign music kasi ay parang napag iwanan na din ang prog rock.

when people say "prog" here what do they mean? dream theater? fuseboxx? i really hope that no one is relating progressive rock to long winded compositions that rely basically on heavy guitar shredding because its so much more than that.

depende kasi s band yan....kung ur doing it for the music or for the money...as of now mas nag grow na ang prog kaysa dati..pero most prog bands na kakilala ko eh ayaw din mag paexpost(maging mainstream)...and ang prog paang undeground music talaga...

sa foreign scene dati ang gusto ko prog rock yes tapos nanjan din yung emerson lake & palmer meron din manfred mann , pink floyd, genesis, kansas, alan parsons project, rush, electric light orchestra, prism, king crimson ang dami pa na di ko alam ang type ng pagka progressve. nawala sila lahat ngayon parang ng underground yata.

^ di naman sa nag-underground. we have to realize that the golden age of prog rock was back in '72-75. during those days ang bilis talaga ng rise to fame ng mga prog bands (genesis, yes, crimson, gentle giant etc) pero ang bilis din nilang nawala. the genre burned itself out quite quickly but there was a time when albums like tull's "thick as a brick" were able to get to no. 2 in the british charts. at the moment, sabihin na lang natin na matatanda na yung mga members nung mga bands na yun (i mean, that was over 30 years ago).

we just have to accept that prog is not a very easy genre to appreciate and will probably never become mainstream ever again. personally i'm not really versed in the philippine prog scene. i've heard fuseboxx and i think they're ok... at the very least some people are interested, some are trying. and at the moment, thats good enough.

^ hindi pinag-aaralan ang pagiging prog. IMO natural nalang yan na lalabas sayo. same with other types of music.

malabo ata toh mga pre..

personally ako progressive rock din tugtugan namen..
pero hindi ko na ineexpect na sumikat ang prog sa main stream..

1st. hindi lahat nakakaapreciate ng prog
madalas tayo2 na nga magkakasama sa underground scene tayo2 pa ang hindi magkaapreciatan sa isa't isa..

2nd. hindi lahat kayang tumugtog ng prog
okay okay sabihin na natin hindi lahat kayang makatugtog ng mga electronica beats ni lady gaga etc..
pero diba andun yung nostalgic effect sa mga nakikinig..

POP = Masses (mostly the average persons)
PROG = Few (more intellectual people)

same goes with classical music and jazz..

imho pag sinabing prog not necessarily na dapat mabigat eh. it's in the long series of "progressions" na hindi predictable pero parang nagna-narrate ng kuwento (tingin ko lang naman). for example, yung Pink Floyd...
