i am noticing a "trend" nowadays - guys from pinoy bands who are entering the acting and show business. there's Marc Abaya, Teddy Corpuz (i dont know which came first for him), Jazz Nicolas, Champ and now Rico Blanco. what is going on?

eh gusto nila gawin yun eh, pag sinabi kasi natin na dapat "pag ganto sa ganto lang", mawawala yung artistic freedom! magiging stereotype! (gets nyo ba?

as long as kaya nila panindigan.. atlis naging totoo sila! bahala sila sa buhay nila!

ano na lang mangyayari sa rock dito sa pilipinas? natatalbugan na nga tayo ng mga foreign rock acts hindi pa natin ninunurture ang mga talents ng mga tao. ang hilig pang mambasag ng mga poser dito sa forum. akala mo kung sino silang magaling hindi naman marunong gumawa ng kanta. hmp! imbyerna itech..

I guess, just another source of income for them. Madami kasing hindi na bumibili ng cd, sa halip ay nagdo-download nalang sa internet, so mahina na kita nila. I guess, sa mga gigs nalang sila nakakabenta talaga.

So, for me, ok lang yan, tayo din ang may kasalanan kung bakit pati acting pinapasok nalang din nila, at least ako, cd buyer pa din ako. Nothing beats the sound of an original copy, and of course it's cool to read those liner notes, baka lang one day, makita natin name natin doon.

Maybe if everyone would buy the albums, and support them, baka di sila ma-encourage na kumuha ng acting jobs.

mahal kasi ang cd eh. yun ang dahilan kung bakit hindi ako bumibili ng cd. pero bumibili ako ng mga casette tapes dati. 150 lang kasi eh. dami ko nga nun cassette kaso ewan ko kung san na napunta, kung sinu sino na lang yung humiram...

kulang ang connection sa audience

"connection" meaning ung parang ahhh hmmh pano ba to..
basta isipin mo favorite band mo
tapos bkt mo ba sila favorite.

katumbas b ng 350 na enjoyment makukuha ko dito..?

before i buy something i think about the value. or at least, kung ano yung value nun sakin. if its not important to me then i dont buy it. siyempre pagkain bibilhin ko yun because its a necessity and therefore it is important. pero yung cd na isa or dalawa lang ang gusto mo pakinggan, is P350 worht the buy?

Kaya na mi-miss ko yung early days, na 10 tracks lang ang isang album, mas sulit pa dati eh...pero for us audiophiles, the experience of discovering something new from an artist na hindi kami masyadong familiar gives us that great feeling. ten years na din akong bumibili ng cd, lately madalang na, kasi, laging safe na ang releases na lumalabas. Mostly local music na talaga ang sinusuportahan ko.

Back to topic:

I have nothing againgst musician who dabbles in acting. Bahala sila sa buhay nila...sila naman may hawak sa sarili nila.

yeah nothing wrong with that. actually the yuzon brothers (yan and yael) started out in theater before doing music. marc abaya graduated, majoring in film.

PLUS if you play live, it's already a sort of performance. A bit like theater acting, especially if your live shows are a visual performance as well. Acting is but a mere extension of that.

nakakailang seeing MARC ABAYA's acting in the serye MAGKARIBAL. so called rockstar ka tapos umiiyak ka on camera?

. yeah he's a film major, BUT id respect him more if he directed movies and stuff. pero magdrama sa camera?

does danita paner count, being daughter of tina and (although hindi actor) granddaughter of PBA legend manny? sakit sa tenga yung mga kanta ng danitaband...that first song of theirs na halos katunog ng "magasin", and the one playing right now on the masa stations, "di ka makuha sa tingin" ata yung title tapos yun lang yung lyrics sa chorus. worst...paramore impersonation...ever.

i agree na another source of income nga yun. eh kung wala ngang bumibili ng albums nila panu pa sila mabubuhay? kaya di natin sila masisisi.
